View Full Version : Mouse Wheel jumoing?

So as of the last 1-2 weeks a tone of people have been using mouse wheel up and down to make them self jump faster and its not that big a deal most of the time, how ever some people have started using both up/down together and this creates a jumping affect that is so fast when in a crouch spot even when shooting them in the face with 4 p-90 you cannot knock or move the person back at all.i think we should talk about what should be done about this because it is starting to affect game play on ZM maps and some people have started to complain about it. I have also seen this being used my self first hand and with A shotgun blast to the face it has little or no KB what so ever, and if put together with bunny hoping it also affects some escape maps that are wide open areas again because of the person knot being able to get Knocked back at all (it is mostly with the fast and pred classes that people are using this with and that is a bad combo since they are all ready faster then normal people by a good bit), I am starting this thread here because it is causing some grief on the server and we are doing so well as of late with people just having tones of fun and i feel everyone who plays on the zm server should have impute on this topic.

As Brett said, nothing wrong with it. It has been brought up before.
Bhopping has always been a part of the servers. The only people to blame are the victims themselves. Bhoppers, in truth, are really easy to stop. One firm bullet to the head would be equivalent to hitting a wall. I know aNex has stressed several times for some people to play rear guard on ZE maps. Understand that velocity and time is precious to a bhopper. If all the humans turn their backs to their spawn and run to the endzone like sheep, they are asking to lose. The more often you can stop the zombies from attaining maximum velocity, the better off the humans are.
In short: Players who spend those 15-100+ hours learning and mastering the bunny hop should not be discriminated against; the victims should play smarter.
This crouch spot jumping technique has been in use for ages. Essentially what happens is that as they jump inside a vent, the primary hitboxes (especially the head) move outside of the vent. In pipes, the lateral movement often results in a pickup in speed as well. The pump shotgun will never prevail against this crouch jump (not to mention the auto shotgun, which is a terrible option of a gun) because it pretty much nullifies all of the knockback. At this point, the only benefit in a pump is the high damage dealt, which is useless without the knockback and halved at best since you can't land headshots. The usual counter for this is, on top of blasting them out of the tunnel before they can hit top jump speeds, to use P90s and M249s. If you insist on the pump, make sure a teammate has one of the more powerful automatics. Although they won't be sent flying as usual, the M249 and the P90 have a high enough "push" force that will either stall (if you're a bad shot/against a z-train) or blast these zombies right out. In the end, it will be you fault for bringing a shotgun. Lesson: emphasize smarter play, especially team based play.

b-hop and mouse hop is 2 different things, and still there need to be a fix on the head hitbox while this is happening since it seems to totaly dissaper.

Uhm no, It isn't my fault the zombies on this server are fucked up. I played on other mods where people could perfectly fine b-hop and still this problem didn't occur.

it was a joke, Checkster used to get all technical with his hacking terms.

Sorry i'm just awake so my brains are on 10% of what is left of it lol but really i find b-hop fine just the dissaperence of the head hitbox is a real problem, the knockback of some zombies just dissapere.

The head physics clip in crouch spurs is indeed a problem with mouse wheelers. This is why I tell people to bring a para. Even two great players with paras can have some problems with this. There is no excuse our any counter to this fact. Unless Valve fixes the physics that were updated with that huge update long ago, nothing to be done. This was not an issue years ago, people that have been here from the beginning know this.

Sorry to kill peoples dreams but as i said people have found a way to make it 100% imposable to Knock back even if you have 100 people with paras, this jump i am talking about cannot be stopped with anything at all if you guys would like i can get a video of panda using it and me and 3 others all shooting him in the head at the same time and it doing nothing to him at all he just keeps coming.. the speed class+mouse upNdown scrolling makes it imposable to stop them that is the problem w we are having right now..

I'd like to see a demo of someone doing this. my question is how hard is it to do well without scripts?

Extremely easy. Only requires jump, not bunny hopping. This is an entire different subject.

well i ask because it seems to me the jumping would have to be pretty fast and consistent, and there would be a slight pause between the up and down strokes on the wheel which would be enough to fuck it up.

Not with a flywheel or trackball. The crouch spaces are usually short, so yea. Self tested, hacker/script free approved. Except, I will not resort to such cheapness.

i cant believe im saying this but to SUMMARIZE this banter:
mousewheel jumping is legit. i do it, feel free to do it too.
It's not that hard to knock a bhopping zombie back if you know wtf u're doing...

i understand your frustration omega, but you have to remember, a fast zombie only spawns with 1500HP, as alpha zombie, what is it 3000hp at max? per headshot on average for a machine gun is 138hp, times 100 bullets is 13800hp. so granted you are hitting some body parts and the head, you will atleast average between 1000-1200 on hp damage, we still have our hand pistols to finish the job. and with 2 people with any weapon, and with 2 people with para with a fast zombie... it's an easy kill.
Easy steps to stopping a bhopper in escape maps:
1. Pull out your pistol
2. every few seconds turn around and shoot the bhopper in the head
3. turn around and avoid any obstacles
4. repeat.
5. profit.
Also, another tip.
Nobody cares if you are in front or not, they care if you save their arses every time.

And all the others that keep going off about bhopping blah blah blah...
THE OP IS NOT FUCKING TALKING ABOUT BHOPPING! More so the physics clip with zombies head in crouch area's when jump is bound to a wheel and spammed. Bhopping doesn't mean shit, all that matters is the jump. The clip makes head damn near impossible to hit when someone knows how to do it right. In turn this makes very minimal KB as body shot's are much less and on % hit. Head is 100% and massive KB. Omega is right. This discussion has been brought up before. There isn't much to be done about it except Valve fixing it, and good fucking luck with that. I've been in ZM wayyyyy to long to not know this shit.

I only talked about bhopping because there was a short bit about it in the OP's post, and I sectioned my post into a part on bhopping and one on the crouch jump spam ;_;
but if it wasn't clear, my main focus was supposed to be on the vent jumping. This is something that can't be solved practically with the use of admin powers.

Mousewheel hop is not be hop
on the zombie server it is a huge issue that in most zm maps u cannot hide in tubes or vends because of this, speacily poison and predators become almost immun to knockbacks just by using the mousewheel. I think there should be rule only on the zm server for zm maps that mousewheel jumping should be forbidden, an experience admin would know the difference between mousewheel and normal. Or either change the hitbox of the waist on zombies so they have more knockback on there. some maps people all clusterfuck because of this problem, if there would be solution to this like on minature room people would spread more, makes everyone happy.
some reprogramming of the non hs knockback system may help this issue.

A bit, but will make it harder for zombies on any other location. Honestly if it were just a touch more, it would be a bit more like years ago. This will go two ways, promote more fail, or force a bit more teamwork.

Problem now is people are forced to clusterfuck on some maps we don't want this either.
