Power out, trees everywhere floods all around. All places closed. And my work is in longbeach island Nj in beach haven so all I need to get is scuba gear to work. My girlfriends house is covered by the first floor in water and her parents are stuck on the island. So much fun and it is fucking cold in barnegat Nj with no power for day1 so far see you when it ever comes back on. Well I'm going to let my phone charge and us my lab top as my charger. Gas shortages here in NYC. People are literally fist fighting to get the last tank.

Traffic has never been so bad before. I travel 5-6 minutes for work if I catch all the lights and coming back it takes me 10-12 minutes. It took me an hour to get to work and 2 hours to go back home!

this is because our politicians are doing their jobs by slowing shit down and fucking everything up as much as possible :wtg: and you know the electric companies have to wait until captain overprotective says it's ok to go to work.

2 weeks without power after katrina..and i didn't even have any flooding on our side of the lake. i was only around for 1 but just consider yourselves lucky it's not a louisiana summer there. anyways i feel for you guys.

A lot of places have above ground power. So polls and lines got to be replaced and that takes a lot of time. Also as seen in the videos of the storm a shit ton of transformers blew up so all that shit has got to get replaced and that takes time to order them, for them to get there and then install them. Then there is places where relay stations, sub stations ect get blown up and that is a big mess but the big thing is the transformers. It is the same issue we would have if there was a major cosmic EMP blast. The destruction of that many transformers over the earth would take years to replace in first world nations and decades in the rest of the world.

That doesn't really explain it. It's not like we have some crazy alternate power source up here, but when we're hit by the same thing you guys are, we loose power for a matter of hours where you guys have it out for a matter of days. So it has to have something to do other than the hardware. Laziness or inability or something.
