Hey guys, i'm trying to get into an RPG out of boredom, but I would always love to play with a community rather than alone. (I miss the Dungeon Def days with Maymay, joker, James, Blade...</nostalgia>...)
What do you guys play and recommend (multiple votes possible)?

Aion, Rift. Rift is really fun and also free to play now i think same goes for aion but i stopped playing it long ago.

as far as bang for your buck goes, GW2 would be a good choice..one time payment until expansions...even though im a bit bored of it right now, it has updates all of the time, solo friendly, and you can go back to it any time and not feel terribly behind..

right now though, I think sin and I will be delving back into D3 since recent updates.

couple of those games aren't mmorpg's... but that aside. I've been having a lot of fun with D3 as of late. pretty much all the issues that it had have been resolved.

given LoL is free... I would try it, it can be real addicting and fun and as far as MOBA's go you wana play LoL or DOTA.

or find a private server dedicated 2 original vanilla WoW... as those were it's glory days... and private servers are free.

Currently playing SWTOR (http://www.swtor.com/) to finish the Class stories.

After that i'm gonna keep playing LotrO (http://www.lotro.com/)(which i've played for many years) until FFXIV (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/) relaunches.

If they manage to fix the critical problems(Which looks like they have) then i'll be playing that for many years :)

Really recommend Lotro tho as it's free, fun, has a great community and the world looks amazing (Tho character models looks bad) and you can play through everything without even paying by earning Turbine points by simply doing Quests and Deeds.

voted gw2 for obvious reasons...haven't had the time to sink into it recently though. also voted WoW but only for private servers, paying for it is dumb but if you get a good group it can be pretty damn fun still.

just saw on facebook that GW2 is having a refer a friend free 3 day trial along with their first major content update on Nov 12th. hit me up if youre interested.

LotorO is ok... for a F2P it's good. but I dunno... I just could never really get into it 2 the point where I overly cared and wanted to play all the time.

in general I'm kinda done with MMORPG's... they just always fall short on what's promised and what they were back in the day.

Not sure if SWTOR is free yet... if it is, I would recommend playing that as the storyline is actually fun and decently well done. You can't do the PVP battlegrounds or anything I heard in the free 2 play version of SWTOR... but they suck ass so who really cares... the storyline was the only good part... and you can still engage in open world PVP.

It will go F2P in a week or two and with it you can do everything in game but with limitations such as you can only do a few battlegrounds a week.

2d korean myth based mmorpg. Has been around for a very long time, not free to play (actually free to lvl 49) but unlimited character growth, after lvl 99 you can increase hp/mp and your stats and get more skills and equipment based on your rank. All kinds of shit to do. Daily events, boss raids, pvp events, an item mall if you like to dress your character up in frills. Bosses are actually hard and you will die. etc etc

just answering for the ones i voted for, gw2 is a 1 time payment, wow is subscription based but really the best gameplay was in the old expansions so private servers (100% free) are the way to go in my book.

just wanted to add that with the refer a friend and content update..all players have the option to be auto leveled to 80 (even the trials) so you can experience any content you want during it...thats pretty awesome

diablo 3 has no monthly fee cause it's not a MMORPG. and SWTOR is free in a week from now.

Negative opinions are starting to form... Must suppress them to form a tumor I can surgically remove later in life.

Also, if anyone needs a key for DotA 2 just ask, I have a bunch of keys that valve likes to remind me in the form of an email every day. That may also contribute to my eventual tumor.

But until i can actually afford to pay for the full shit, i could take a quick look at Dota 2, since i already have it predownloaded for no fuckin reason whatsoever.
What's a key chikun? is the game subscription based or smthn?

if dota is anything like GW2, then it probably allows me to download the client for free anyway, but in order to activate it and play, i'd have to have a key?

MOBA = whatever you accomplished in the previous game, is lost in any other following up game. meaning you will have 2 re-level your character, and buy items etc.

MMORPG = everything you accomplish is permanent and kept on your characeter, meaning the more time you put into a character in a MMORPG, the better they become.

1st, Holy crap that League vid is OLD.

2nd, LoL actually has a persistent component. your meta-character (the 'summoner' you control, who inturn controls the champion you use in a game) levels up as you go, giving you the opportunity to give small buffs/bonuses to your champions during-game. example being, a level 4 sommoner can have their champ start with 4 extra attack damage.

well in LoL yes... in DOTA I don't believe they have the skill tree system... yes, you can get slight buffs that do last... and LoL did that simply 2 get people to play the game more.... but I'm sure you see what my point was in terms of MOBA Vs MMORPG... they are very diff.

when you get a skill point in a MMORPG, it's a big deal and normally does something rather significant... as where in LoL... it's not an overly huge deal. I've gone and rocked games with no runes or points used in the tree and still come out first place lol....

as where if you tried that in a MMORPG... you would just get your ass handed 2 you in a bad way.

For those that play wow my sister is trying to build up a guild that actually does stuff. Problem is the guild level or whatever is not high enough to give the bonus shit or whatever yet so she is still having trouble getting enough memebers. (I really know basically nothing about wow)

Anywyas if anyone is intrested in a guild that actually does shit let me know and maybe you can join hers somehow.

And I do care, it's fun, different, and the crowd is a little better than LoL's, HoN's, or DotA's. Although only a little.

to be fair, crystal desert isn't the best server in general. we're seriously trash at wvw, so we don't have many buffs normally.
