Had to make a thread about this. Just finished a 3 hour game as alien commander on the mineshaft map. Acquiring a third hive seemed nearly impossible though we had more resource nodes. What made this insane was that the majority of the team were either oni or fade and with a few gorges. Half of their team had exos. How we ended up winning was that because they had so many exos it made their beacons progressively weaker until they couldn't get their exos from sorting (which we had just lost, but had gained repair shortly before, allowing me to spawn a couple onos eggs to recoup our losses) to counter our counterattack at their main base at operations. That crippling loss devastated them to where they had to face a herd of angry oni and fades with no upgrades at depot while vainly trying to base race us with a few exos. It didn't end well for them, however, it ended well for us as I can now go to sleep feeling like a boss. The whole map was just a shitstorm of losing sorting, countering and claiming repair, losing repair and countering by reclaiming sorting and so on.

This also made me a firm believer of the Shift-->Crag-->Shade (which I never got to build) build.

Yesterday I back seat commanded a game from a loss to a win. It was on tram and our start base was shipping. We had at one point shipping, wharehouse, and repair. We lost repair b/c no one would go in the phase gate. The aliens were really good with mid teir life forms which is something I had yet to see in NS2. Learks working in tandem along with a support gourge decimated our team and then a mid game fade cut though our lines and they were then on 3 hive taking repair and then killed our main base shipping when we tried to siege repair.

With our main base down I and one other dual exo was alive along with a new player. We had him run back to wharehouse and build an ip and recycle the stuff in shipping to get the money. We held off the aliens and while the new com listened to what I said which was "if you want to win everyone do exactly as I say".

Ip-> amory-> ams lab -> respawn -> rush repair right now everyone spam weld me and the other exo.

We then killed 2 gourages, 2 learks 1 fade 2 onos some skulks and another fade and the hive and then marched right to the bottom hive location killing res towers and creep on the way. We then killed that hive and ran to overlook and started to attack elevator. We then got killed but had taken out all creep and even a second redrop in the bottom hive. We then ran out of base again and took 5 res towers and kept aliens locked on their two hives and kept up heavy pressure. We used 1 phase gate to overlook to keep pressure on elevator and saved all our res to get another AA and go to proto again. We lost the push in elevator but that was just to buy time for us to res up and get to proto and at this time it worked out so I could rebuy a dual exo. Armed once again with the power of a dual exo that already allowed me to kill 3 hives backed with the support of a another exo and my team we set off right to shipping, our original base to win the game. We ran in and crushed the hive and upgrades and quickly made our way to elevator. We regrouped and ran in for the egg lock. Then like we had done with all the other hives once the eggs were gone the hive went down in a flash for one of the greatest come back wins I have ever played in NS.

What was really exciting was seeing all the people type in chat afterword "thanks zero" it was a win that even I was surprised at, that my own plan actually worked.

Awesome, we must add more war stories to this. Once we can pull demos like in CS this thread shall be grand.

No for some stupid reason the game calls the bite for skulks biteleep.

Mineshaft as alien com. Started in cave and got res in double and the normal expo spots. Marines held 2 hive lock down and started in operations.

We got all 2 hive upgrades fast but not being able to get deposit casued marines to kill like 3 fades and then take and lose double and then push sorting. They rushed with mass exo but bombard wips backed with cregs and biobomb held them back.

A jp bum rush on Cave killed that hive but we dropped it again and the new hive then got shade tech and got the upgrades up right before it went down. This time they took cave for good and we lost shift upgrades. At this time we had 3 onos attack deposit.

We kept killing the exo until they ran out of res then both sides lost all res towers basically and so we recapped and took deposit. While taking deposit we make them becon to operations and kill all their res again. We then rushed repair and killed power and that base. Then they tired to rush deposit but then we attacked operations and beacon again. Then we killed their res towers again. Then we rushed cave and killed the pg and some stuff. Then we had res for repair hive and took that. We then rushed operations and killed power and everything in there.

They did not build any ips at cave and the list guy is killed still trying to kill sorting. Game lasted over an hour.
