At about 4:20 p.m., police went to a home in the XX block of S. XX St. looking for someone who had an active warrant for failure to appear. Police say when the entered the home, they saw evidence of drugs and the dealing of drugs.....well played crafty cops...well played. Taken from a news excerpt from around my area.

Wait, there are people out there who think they don't have to show up at a court summons?

What are you trying to say? They were serving a warrant and observed illegal material, nothing wrong there?

It's no secret that I may, from time to time, partake in a substance that the powers-that-be deem to be 'illegal.' My brother's a cop, however, and he's 100% aware and doesn't give two shits as long as I don't do it around him. As for a police officer entering your home, without a warrant, he would either have to visibly see narcotics/paraphernalia from your open door or smell marijuana smoke emanating from your home when you opened the door (and smelling it used as probable cause is flimsy as shit in court and would likely result in a dismissal). Otherwise, that cop can gtfo because he's not allowed to enter your home, a fact that is sadly being overlooked/forgotten by people coming up today.

If you break the law, you could get caught. Regardless of how you feel about the law. Accept this and your relationship with cops will become so much better. They're not out to get you. Usually they don't give two fucks about you. They're just like you - a guy or gal doing their job. It just so happens that their job is to shit on people sometimes. Goes with the territory and it's why they get such a bad rap.

To get back on topic, marijuana law in this country is about nothing more than a) suppression of a specific group of people (in this case, poor black and Hispanic men) and b) money coming into and going out of the justice/prison system in this country. AKA it's complete and utter bullshit and needs to be changed before I leave this mortal coil.

"active warrant for failure to appear"

it's odd that the cops were sent for this, and normally that would be bond enforcement or the sheriff's office that handles such things, but meh.

Sorry, that was poorly worded. I knew in this situation there was a warrant, I was just pointing out 'the law' for those who might not be aware and for posterity. In the case of the person Assassin is talking about, well, that person is a dumb fuck for having an active warrant and drugs at the same time.

That is a very true story. Also someone else in the house that they found got a felony bail jumping charge...so yeah. Just dumb all around.

For what it's worth Carmichal I didn't take it seriously in the slightest (unlike Nemesis seemingly did). Rarely is a good word spoken on the Internet about law enforcement after all so I'm fairly used to hearing my brother disparaged daily. :)

Tbh the cops I've met are cool with me as long as you just treat them with a little bit of respect. If you come off all half cocked they hate you.

There's a very specific reason for this. 90% of the people police deal with on a daily basis are more than just half cocked - they're flat out rude fucking dicks. Thus a LEO is berated and belittled and besieged all day long and eventually, they just get tired of it and don't want to deal with it anymore. Happens to every single one of them and is inevitable given a long enough time on the job.

Imagine if your job, all day, was to deal with the worst society has to offer. The liars, cheaters, thieves and killers. The dregs, if you will. Keeping this in my mind during any police encounter has, *knock on wood*, kept me out of any serious trouble with the law.

Meh kinda true. I saw this story the other day that there was some guy breaking into an old mans house. Dude called the cops 20-30 min wait time. Old guy hangs up. About 1 min later calls back and fires two shots off into the air saying he killed the dude. Cops get there and catch the burglar.

Ya, that's probably bullshit and exaggerated by the news, like most things that they have no idea about are. Or they had to pull units from an actual important call because some old fuck had kids in his yard. Again, people are stupid.

So a person breaking into someones house and *potentially* harming the person to steal from them isn't important? I would rank that right under you know...murder. Just saying.

Again, you're just assuming you know what's happened. Old people call the police all the fucking time for stupid shit. This sandy old fuck could have a history of calling the police for bullshit reasons, you don't know, you just assume. So instead of waiting 15 minutes for the police to chase the children off his lawn, he illegally fires shots into the fucking air and pulls Officers from a real issue to ask people to get the fuck off the grass.

From the sound of it I just pictured him firing the shots inside, but if he did it outside then he's even more of a stupid fuck and should have been arrested. Stupid Americans and their guns...

Assassin
03-08-2013, 06:05 PM
was inside but also people as a whole call for frivolous shit. Old people aren't the exception or the rule for this and if you have stats to back this up I'd actually hear more of this from you. That being said if my grandfather called because someone was breaking into his house and the cops were like sorry sir 20-30 min wait. I would go over there...and then sue them. Do your fucking jobs....although I am willing to concede that I don't know if dudes a habitual caller or what not.
