HDD Broken?

So my dad gives me his broken laptop to see if I can recover his data from the HDD. He had a shop take a look at it in the dr but they said it was dead or what ever.

When I get it open my first question is oh you had some parts changed in this? He was like fuck no! So the laptop is supposed to have 4GB ram now has 3GB should have 500GB HDD and now had 320GB. So his working 500GB drive with all his data was stolen along with a 2GB stick of ram. What is funny is they tired to slip in a HDD from the same brand as the original but not only is it the wrong size it looks like it was flushed down a toilet or had a run in with a truck. Even funnier the build date for the laptop is 1108 but the HDD was built in 0309! So yea those guys owe us a few hundred $$ now. :assault:

that is not fraud. that's larceny. file a police report and a civil Tort for damages immediately.

why the fuck did he steal ram?
id be more worried about all the data on the HDD, the physical stuff that was stolen was not a few hundred bucks though.

I figured that because it was a business there would be different things, especially if they may have done this to other people.
