so i had this problem...kinda fixed, i had it to where my laptop would go to sleep and stay asleep if i unplugged it from the power cable before i closed the lid. well i decided to reformat and now...it's doing it again. what happens is i close the lid or give it the command to go to sleep (or even shut down), and it sleeps for 2-3 seconds, then wakes right back up. i checked my network card settings, they're not able to wake it. i have nothing at all plugged into the laptop, not even power.

here's the real kicker though, i found a nifty command that tells you what last woke up your computer. it literally says that my computer was awoken by nothing.

there's one thing i could try...but i really don't want to. i could update the bios. i'm currently running v6.6, v6.7 is out and that miiight help me. however...when i reformatted yesterday and updated the bios to that version, my fan would not run at anything but 100%..and it was annoying as shit. could not get it to stop for an hour, was tired of trying, so i just reformatted again. so i'm nervous to try that again...cuz i don't wanna have to reformat this thing a 3rd time.

so anyone got any ideas?

disable "wake-on-lan" from the BIOS. or turn the wifi off and unplug any ethernet cables.

wake on lan was disabled, while i was in there i also disabled an option to wake it up when the battery's critically low (why the fuck would that make sense anyway?), disabled lan and ethernet adapters. again, absolutely nothing was plugged into this thing. still wakes up after 2-3 seconds.

the one thing i noticed once, is that there's also the human error...

for example, if u have a wireless mouse, make sure u disable it (turn it off) BEFORe u put the pc to sleep... obviously...

I've had a friend not notice this shit until i mocked his ass...

also, did u run a full anti-virus/malware diagnostic on it?
could be an unwanted service running in th ebackground..

both within BIOS and the os's power management options?

Have you tried turning it off and back on?

Only 50 times. Right now, the only way it isn't running is if I shut it down by holding the power button down. A normal shutdown just acts like the sleep does. It'll be off for a few seconds, then restart.

but i also have the problem of "waking it it the fuck up" after it goes to sleep;..
and u're forced to hold down the power button and reboot.

Did some googling. Came onto this thread: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1634053

It seems the guy fixed the problem by using this guide: http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-p205/removing-motherboard-1.htm

Good luck!

Have you updated your video card your laptop with AMD or the driver on the Toshiba website?

i can only update from the toshiba website because toshiba's annoying as f00k.

also, it's now working sometimes if i unplug everything. i didn't change anything...so idk why but i'll just roll with this rather than fuck with the mobo
