edit....this is not a thanksgiving post and i think only nem read it! Fucking dont assume and maybe skim it at the least. Such disapoint

It's the holiday time again and you know what that means... relatives that make suicide all the more likely, delicious food and the gaining of ten lbs, countless parties and making sure there's enough tacky gifts for everyone you meet.

I'm an atheist so I'm not going to spew the "true meaning of Christmas" crap on ya. Srsly it was made cause it's fucking cold and dark outside and people needed some cheer up in that bitch. I'm all on board that since life gets to me sometimes just like it does everyone else. However, I am very fortunate, and it's my duty to honor that by giving to those less than fortunate. It always puts a smile on the face of not only those I give to, but me as well. Feels good to nice sometimes, go figure.

Just some ideas for you here. A lot don't involve money just time which is a huge statement in reality...

Elf Louise was something I did for many years. It was just wrapping donated toys for children who would not of had a Christmas otherwise. No money just time.

Angel trees. This time you buy presents for a single child or more if you can and wrap them. I love doing this cause I am an expert shopper, and love to shop for others. It broke my heart because most of them wanted just a jacket, or new shoes. I loved going over and beyond for this. Toys, books, coloring supplies, hand held games, gloves, hats, sweaters, fun socks. So much you can do with this. It's also personalized which makes it extra special, and your gift is not so unfamiliar. Give the receipts for exchanges in case things don't fit.

There are those who can't come home this Christmas season to bitchy relatives, and maybe not at all. I'm talking about the troops. SEND CARE PACKAGES! Best thing you can do for a troop this holiday. My family sends several every year. Better than buying flimsy yellow stickers, and a better way to show you really support the troops. (Psst I hear blankets and things for warmth are a big hit. Deserts get fucking cold.) Also something you can do year round.

If you are broke but have a lot of time pick up a ladle and serve at your local soup kitchen. It's not pretty to see the homeless problem up close and personal, but every bit helps, trust me. If you have no time but money donate canned food to it. Another year round thing. People are hungry other times of the year.

Spend time at a home for seniors. Some of them are forgotten there. Honor your elders by spending time, read to them play games with them. Listen and talk with them. It's not nearly as romanticized as media makes it, but it's worth it.

This barley scratches the surface of things you can do, but think about how so many of you have so much. I might help you appreciate life a little more this holiday season. It's fucking cold and dark outside. Be a warm light for others.

I think people assumed this was a thanksgiving post. Or read the title and didn't read. Its about holiday charity.

My charity on spreading the holiday cheer was telling everyone happy Thanksgiving. Do you know how many people work it, how much appreciation and thanks one feels acknowledging with them how much it sucks, especially when you have a family you should be with. It isn't just poor people. Getting pissed assuming someone didn't read the list of charity benefit negates any purpose this thread was created for. Soulful benefits go a long way. Grumpy face.
