View Full Version : Things that still need to be done with zmod.

zero im glad you've updated the zmod but theres still some badly needed things to be done.

1.give us a mute players feature, your votemute system doesn't help at all, we NEED THIS ASAP.

2. set some sort of preference like you do with the zombie classes to shut off these inch and a half zombie vains, i've got litteraly no peripheral vision as a zombie with these on.

3. give us a way to just shut off the music, ie something along the way of the zombie class selection, like a !music: background music on/off, the hl2 music is getting redundant and really doesn't suit the zmod anyways.

4.get rid of the parachutes for the zombies, atleast for the jumpers, or at the very least increase the kickback when the zombies have there parachutes activated, sure they fly backwards when you shoot them, but they dont move at all if your shooting upwards at them.

and please dont add anymore clastrophobic maps, I got lost in one the other day.

Its not supposed to mean anything. I just found the picture and thought it was cool as hell. Posting it means ill know where it is when i want to find it again.

there are 2 new maps I know of holy, that base map and shoot that one map with the zombies in the glass containers.

the map I mentioned is this gigantic dark (everything seemed to be dark brown) map that was just corridor after corridor which gave you no indication where you where you were supposed to go or where you were supposed to cade.

Yeh, i have a map that iv'e been making. It's Kinda of an escape/cade map.

Farther away you get from spawn, the better the cades and protection will be.

When i get enough free-time on my hand, ill finish it and show it to you guys and see what you think of it :smirk:

while I think of it, zero what ever happened to the zm nerv map that you said you were going to add awhile ago? The one that's based on the nerv headquarters from neon genesis evangelon anime.

you know what would be a cool map to have for ZM???

a map based off of COD4, the mission of that stranded abrams tank. open space, buses to cade in, a building as well, and how awesome would it be if the tank worked like the artillery on some of the maps on ZM already???

You can get rid of the zombie vision by typing zombie_vision 0 in console (I'm pretty sure that's what it is).

As for parachutes, I don't like them. Was on police station a week or two ago, bunch of humans had stacked on one of the poles in the parking lot by jumping off the roof and gliding with parachutes. They were pretty much invincible because the zombies moved too slow with parachutes. Maybe There was a way to get them that I hadn't noticed, but I don't like that way the parachutes change some maps. The castle map with the four towers (One of them is broken, don't remember the map name) is annoying with chutes now because when the zombies get past the barrel all the humans rush up the tower and jump off the edge, that was fine before when they had no chance of escaping (They either died from the fall or landed in the moat and were subsequently tagged) but now that scatter and if you're the only zombie left when the barrel finally gets moved you can lose about half the escaping humans depending upon where they decide to glide to.

Learn to air strafe! Try playing on a surfing server to learn how to do that. I tag those guys on the pole all the time...no matter how many are on there. You just need a little army to go after them at once and you're golden.

air strafle? I dont think thats possible in this server, when the parachutes activated your stuck going one direction period, human and zombiewise and I know how to disable the damn z vain's now.

But still at the very least the vains need to be removed from the left and right sides of the screen or significantly be reduced for the sake all of the new people comming into the server who dont know how to disable them.

kavinsky you don't know how to surf with the parachute??? you can really go in tons of directions with the parachute not just straight. it just moves in a circle so where ever you wanna go just make sure your high enough and its in your circle range.

Okay now I know how to air straffle, I guess im a little out of practice since I've been spending most of my time on Xerocores synergy servers.

But back on subject perhapse you could substitute the lounder hl2 tracks with something else zero, like something abit more ambient?

Perhaps when humans win, you could play a clip of "It's Raining Men". When Zombies win, have some death metal clip go off in the background.

I'm just bored right now so I'm half-wasting these random posts. At the same time, it would be quite a laugh to have those two song clips incorporated in there.

I actually know of a really good ambient mp3 that ZM could use. I played it in a ZM server and it actually felt creepier.

And regarding the parachutes: They seem like more of a novelty than a necessity but they are fun to have. When the humans para to a unreachable spot and the zombies know how to strafe it actually makes the game more fun, because it isn't the same "make cade, try to shoot zombies past the cade while zombies try to break the cade" crapola.

I have to agree with him on those sound tracks, they are really annoying.
Or at least make an option to stop the tracks.

The RE music is both creepy and enjoyable to listen to.

Just about any music would get redundant. The thing is I don't play a zombie mod game so I can listen to cool music that doesn't get old. I play a zombie mod and like to listen to music that actually feels like I'm trying to kill zombies.

I also don't see how your music wouldn't get redundant. Does it have a protective redundancy sheild or something?

Maybe we could add in ambient sounds like Kavinsky said, only instead of random city noises it would be distant gunfire and faint shouts/screams, would make more sense considering it's the zombie apocalypse and all, not rush hour.

I would like some music though, maybe music turns on when there's only a few people left as humans? That would be good, you (and the other people in your cade if there are any) are the last one(s) left, there's zombies running around on your mini-map, then they find you (or rush your cade if they already knew where it was) and the music starts to pick up as the time limit runs low with zombie jumping, pushing, and knifing at your cade. :assault:

If I remeber correctly the old zmod track was like that sometimes. Most of the round you could hardly even hear the music, then once in awhile in the last 50 seconds or so it did start to pick up and add to the tension.

Maybe all that needs to be done is a recut of the old zmod music mixed in with some faint shouts and screams as paper put it,
I think the fake gunfire would be a little much.

I was thinking like the distant gunfire you hear in a lot of CoD4 maps. And when I said music picking up at the end I was thinking specifically of the 28 weeks later music, especially the version where it climaxes at about 2 min.
