Yeah, this morning I had a bunch of people talk to me complaining about the ZM stats because they lost so much rank to people who don't even play anymore. I just figured I would come and see if you knew.

One of my theories was that you had upgraded, and now had more room to store stats. I guess that's ruled out now.

Pooter was good because he played 8-12 hours everyday. I'm sure that anyone who could dedicate that much time could learn all the secrets and spots to every map.

Everytime I logged on, Pooter was on. Didn't matter what time of day, Pooter was there.

The stats page is way off... Pooter was a player and an admin on IBIS for much longer than that.

Eth plays when he can camp a vent or tube with a para, or leech off other barricaders, otherwise he doesn't play (or so I've seen/been told by half the regulars). Though he did start doing what I do at times, and become a zombie on escape maps to get tons of kills. But Kavinsky, doing just this all the time, and only for rank (though I'm not sure if he does it for rank or not, or if its even a he..), it takes all the fun out of it. I do it for the fun and the creativity you get from thinking up new barricades.

Ask any regular who plays with me, they know I'm usually the one to survive the longest if I don't choose to be the zombie, or start as one (not trying to seem cocky, sorry if I am). As for knowing the secrets, that just comes from playing alot. I'm fairly sure I know a decent amount of them, though I never use them often.

Try not being cheap (camping in tubes or vents with a para), and finding new places to hold out or barricade. One of the rules are to have fun, I enjoy finding new places to barricade, using a bit of creativity and surviving in places most people would say is impossible. I guess that trait is considered skill.

Yeah thats why I tried to find the best hiding spots instead of cading, its much more fun and suspenseful to hide instead of cade and get kills and to be the last one left wondering if there going to find you before the rounds over. it's just that everyone knows where the best hiding spots are now, either that or they trip over you while parachuting so theres no point in doing so till we get new maps or the parachutes get disabled.

I just read your older post eth. sounds like playing in ZM last year was tough. But you have to admit one thing, those problems aren't really around anymore. sure the occasional one comes along but for the most part the ZM server has gotten really fun and rules are always enforced and followed. I know that zero has finals and is delayed with all the usual administrative duties of his. But just be ready for the new batch of admins. there is bound to be one abuser in there.

Any time I do join spectate it's usually because someone screws up my barricade, and I don't feel like dying because of some idiot who wouldn't listen or wanted to screw me over. If I do build a barricade by myself, and zombies breach it, I do take the tag.

I have nothing against you, and I wasn't trying to flatter myself. I'm mostly just going by what people have told me. If you read what I said I question myself at least once. Its good to have an old player back in the server but just vent camping or tube camping all the time is a rather boring way to win.

( if any of you recall, i can only name a few...) but thats when the ZM was amazingly fun...., Hell its still good.
As for ETH he's been around along time, theirs no dought about it. Even though for me he plays so boring, by hiding in what people would call "pussy" spots. I mean if he wants to do it, so be it, if he's having fun who gives a shit. It's all about fun.

The new players, well last 6 months i guess... are not bad at all, really. They bring good competition to the server and new ideas within the game to make it better.

As for people who want high rank, let em at it. As long as their not cheating their way to the top, or being stat whores...
like going to spectate or disconnecting b4 dieing ect...

People will purposely get tagged and screw over everyone in the room. I don't remember this being a problem last summer, yet it's been a giant problem since I started playing again last month.

There's a reason why you don't hear me talk in the ZM server. I use my mic all the time in other servers, but you'll never hear me talk in the ZM server. I simply get too frustrated and I'd just spend the entire time bitching at people.

Get a handful of good admins to control all the idiots in the server and I'll never tube or vent camp.

I agree with you completely about the people who will purposely get tagged and what not, and it has been a problem recently, one that I've noticed at least. Hopefully when I get my admin back, I'll be there to rid the server of barricade breakers, and we can all start enjoying the game to it's fullest.

As for getting pissed off though, (which I admit I do get rather annoyed especially after awhile of continuous cade breakers) I realize that in the end it is all just a game. Besides, the risk, and making the best of people's random shootings, is what makes it fun at times, maybe.

Just with the exception of going to a barricade spot, someone coming in and ruining everything after I'm half set up, me running out, and basically being screwed because of the person X_X.. Once again, maybe when I get my admin back there will be less of that going on. I had it happen to me just 10 minutes ago or so when I was playing, I made a barricade in Desert Fortress, some guy came up and he stood there. I asked him to go somewhere else and to not shoot the barricade, he shoots it in and runs, and a zombie comes running in. I imagine that's what pisses Eth off.

I understand that not all of them do it on purpose, which is why I usually just froze them and talked to them for a moment to try and teach them if they started messing things up despite asking them to stop on mic and in chat. However, there are those (like the one last night who destroyed my barricade to be an @$$hole) that do deserve to be banned. You are helping Hobo, but you can't be on 24/7, especially the time that I play the most. (1-4 am)

Come to think of it though, I once joined a server which showed the rules the second you joined. And to continue playing, you had to hit 9 to go to the next page, and press 2 to accept the rules, otherwise you would be kicked. That would probably keep a few idiots out. james is right, the admins can't be on all the time. there has to be someway to make people accept the rules and read them before they join. it might seem like a hassle to get in the server but it could really keep all the people who want to cause trouble out. granted that there is nothing anyone of us can do to keep a trouble maker out.

You both do a good job at keeping the rule breakers down to a minimum Inthebutt and Holy, so I do appreciate it sincerely, along with all the other admins which keep the server running smoothly. Just wish I could stay as an admin to help out though.

Another thing that would help is the votemute, and an addition of votekick, and/or voteban. Though the voteban may only be 5 minutes to an hour probably. If you do decide to add this then make the numbers 1 and 2 count as nothing, and to answer yes or no it would be 3 or 4. '>.> Damn one and two pressers.

And I'll be messaging Zero about the clan tags, as you suggested Holy. Maybe he'll decide to add them back. I know you, Hobo, Inthebutt, and maybe 5 other people should have the 131337 tag, it would almost be like saying, "Listen to them, they know as much as the admins."

I also ask that no one closes this thread any time soon, a lot of good ideas are coming to the surface here.

I liked the tags.. I would watch players with higher tags longer before punishment, with which I could determine warrant before acting on before some that wouldn't deserve b/c I just didn't know them. im a pretty good judge of character but it certainly was helpful for me.

Now if you try and help someone, it almost always results in your death, so the only way noobs learn spots is to either get lucky and spawn next to someone to follow, gang up and go to the spot where the last survivors were the previous round (almost always ends up being the general area of the zombie spawn), or just to use trial and error. But when they're forced to use the last option they usually just break the rules and cade break to get in somewhere.

Exactly. Once a bunch of people die, they look at the player who has the most kills (eth was one of those people the other night) and go to that exact spot, thinking they will have a free reign to kills and be "super leet".

Ok I have made a change so that if your zombie activity level goes below 1% you will be removed. I have also increased that % to represent 20 days of gameplay rather than 15 to protect players on vacation.

Changes should take effect in the system by tomorrow at the latest.

The skill changes reflect the numbers when reprocessed after removing the old players from the stats. If a given player had a large amount of kills on players who were not removed there score is logically going to skyrocket. Currently the numbers and positions "appear" to match up correctly overall.

Pooter's score was never 5000 in the time I was here, it was only 2000, which I passed. But if Zero didn't remove the inactive players, he'd probably run out of room to store ranks after awhile.

Though if he wishes to leave the top 10 greatest players of Ibis ZM up there, I wouldn't mind. It would be a challenge.

But yeah, I have your problem. I can't get into the server sometimes. However, I found out if you mass join, it lets you in after about 7 tries. Not sure why.

Looks like I was wiped out. Still has my original "first seen" date, but all other stats are gone.

I remember logging in back in April, playing for several early mornings trying to fight insomnia and checking after the third or fourth day to see where I was on the stats. okay I don't know the full story behind that whole [GS-ZM] break off from IBIS. But stamp I've heard stories about you and pooter on the ZM server and I think it would be cool if you would come back and play for a bit, even if there is beef between you and NYSCO.

I just wanted to update this thread noting that it did indeed come back like it is supposed to. Remember the zm stats only update once per hour so it might take some time to reappear if your activity was 0.
