In order to better clean up our map list we need to remove all the junk maps so we can focus on what people actually want to play. Also for each map we should consider if there should be a minimum player count requirement for it and or a maximum. This will allow us to exclude maps that should not be in the votes when there is too few or too many players. It can also allow us to create a focused group of maps for when the player count is very low.

Ideally we want to fit maps into 1 of 4 different catagories (the exact player count numbers could be changed but this is just an idea):
A) Maps good for 0-20 players
B) Maps good for any player count
C) Maps good for 15+ players
D) Maps good for 25+ players

The idea is that we have a concentration of small fun maps for players to play on when the server populartion is low and then as the player count goes up more maps are exposed to voting and over time the maps that are now too small fall out of rotation.

Obviously this is a large undertaking so I ask for your help in deciding what maps we should cut and or what catagory each map should go in. I think if all of try to look at a few maps here and there as we have time it should not take too long to review all of the maps.

I feel like people like cade maps with unlimited ammo and more of the original classic cade maps. As for Escape mals they are good as they are, just depends on the player basis on the maps is all really

Honestly I think we should cut that cade map list in half. From what I can tell players play ZE about 90% of the time.
Remove unless its not taking up any space. or just take them off the nomination list.
Also just keep the updated version of the ZE maps and remove older ones.

Agreed. I tried to play through a bunch of the maps on the server while it was dead at 2-4am but the odd person kept joining in so eventually I left. I'll try again soon, but for now I'm just going to give my opinion on some (cade maps only, I'll make another post later with ZE maps).

White = I have no idea, either I don't recognize the name (very likely) or I haven't ever played the map
Red = Cut the map
Yellow = 50/50
Green = Good
Cyan = Good with some kind of player number requirement

The real question is, If it doesn't help anything to remove the maps from the server, is there really any point? I guess only zero knows that.
If anything just remove a shit load from nomination list. I like Cade maps but 95% of players don't lol

Honestly, I would be happy with just the ones in green and cyan, zm doesn't really need as much diversity since it's so seldom played now.

I like cade maps too. But i personally like the older cade maps with unlimited ammo, its not impossible for zombies but it makes you work as a team and definitely alot more intense

If they come back it would be rolled into the ranking / loyalty system where as only the top players would be able to unlock them. So basically their return would be dependent on if we can get the server full again and what sort of game play we end up with on the server to accomplish this. The preds need to be able to fit into whatever we ultimately end up with that results in having a server with players on it again because adding back preds to an empty server is not going to help anyone. As I have stated before I want to reintroduce the preds to escape and I believe that there is a number of ways to do this without resulting in the entire server having preds all the time. Ideally, I want the top players to be able to transform into a pred for 30 seconds and then they have a 2min cool down.

This is the one thing setting this server apart from the rest, limited ammo with good settings and maps. This is the reason it had a decent chunk of regulars for so many years. The zm maps do need trimming, but we shouldn't cut the more difficult maps just because they are unplayed. I like zombie's list but think we should keep

I agree with his green and blue ones to keep, but these ones are some of the best old zm maps. I have no opinion over ze but can we not keep classic zm?

The issue is that if limited amo was enough to attract and keep players then we would actually have those players right now. The fact that the server is empty tells us that the current settings for a lot of things is not where it needs to be.

Honestly, I always loved limited amo. I never wanted to go to unlimited. However, I can say that over the last 2 years you have seen a significant drop in ZM play and when ZM is played it is just a disaster because all the players are expecting unlimited amo.

I currently feel that without unlimited amo ZM is basically unplayable for the fast majority of players on our server and this is why they do not want to play ZM on our server.

Ok I just finished making the new map list with the player limits. Now I got to get the actual related plugins on the server and swap out to the new map voting system. Expect to see it in place this week. Once this s complete and live on the server I am going to start programing the bot mod but I am not sure if I will be able to finish it before Christmas.

I think some maps crash when it tries to load bots onto them. I need to get a list of these maps so I can manually generate the .nav files for them. I will hopefully get a chance to have the server cycle though each map this week while I am on the server so I can see if it will generate the .nav files.

I see the problem with bots on ZE maps, They will only run so far and stop. Then when they spawn to a further point they don't move.
ZM maps, they work great until you go up a ladder or on top of something.
I personally like them, just wish we had more maps to play on :icon_mrgreen:

Yea for them to work on ZE maps correctly we need to manually create the .nav files for the escape maps. This can be done by running the map on your computer and then running the nav mesh generation commands and creating the walkable areas. You got to connect them together but the good thing for ZE is that you only need to connect them 1 way because the bots only need to keep advancing from one area to the next.

Oh and fyi the normal rtv map list will only show maps that the current player count unlocks for. There is more maps than what you see it is just you need more players to unlock them.

I can verify that all escap maps should be able to at least work now with bots (for the 25 maps that have them). Now we still need to edit a lot of the nav files to get the bots to work better and actualy follow the entire map.
