Design the new IBIS Banner!

I am looking for some new ideas for the banner on the new website shown below (beta):

The colors that I am using in the website and the buttons are already shown on the page so logically it needs to match.

So here is the deal, you all have 7 Days to create the best banner you can. At the end of 7 days I will select my fav choice or use the one I started with. The winner gets the reward of having their work shown to thousands of visitors to the new site :icon_mrgreen:

Also if you guys want the player images that I currently use just send me a pm.

I used adobe photoshop CS3.

that's just a background and text box.

I found my own CS characters and I'm customizing those as we speak right now.

I will release the individual objects on here later today so that you can change the color of them if you really want. If you decide the use the custom objects then I ask that you make a square logo like the one I provided as well. One of the problems with the old banner is that there is nothing that really works well as a logo that can be used as a spray tag or even for advertising on other websites. What I really want is a symbol and a banner that really represents IBIS and can be easily recognizable as US.

Also for those who want to work from scratch you can find the weapon outlines that I started with in Counter-Strike as fonts. You can then open these fonts and do what you please.

I most likely will end up using a variation of your logo. I didn't have the fonts downloaded at the time so i had to use a different logo for my banner.

In my opinion, make the knife to scale and lay it horizontal between the buttstocks of the rifles. That would show the barrels of the weapons.

Yeah, but they use so many different tools that are used. It helps to be fluent in multiple programs like that, and unfortunately Photoshop is the only one that I can consider myself half-good at.

I am working on my architecture degree currently, so I suppose all of this time spent making banners won't be completely to waste.

Regarding the logo, I may see if I can maybe put the knife somewhere else.

I like that last one you posted the most i think. With the logo and dark looking guys on either side. I would say make them look less like zombies and more like humans and you will have like a finished product. Maybe a little less dark.

So far I like this one the best.

However you may want to look for a way to blend the logo into the background more. Also I do not think the knife in the words is really adding that much...

Drawing is my forte, it helps me take my mind off issues, plus it'd be something to help me unleash my stress.

So far I like the first one more because the colors make the words stand out more. The second one looks cool but you need to help bring out the text more if you want the guns dimmer like that.

Great work on the new font too this one really blends with the theme more. So far these two are in the lead. Thank you to everyone that has been working on these, keep up the great work. :wtg:

I don't believe that the red and blue should be as bold as you want them to be, given they do stand out more, but they also take away from the rest of the picture.

The font needs to stand out, but it also needs to blend with the rest of the picture.

If not, what's the point of having a background?

Having the stark white, then having the flame red and bright blue, is kind of childish. Is takes away the seriousness of the picture behind it, which in this case, I REALLY, REALLY like the background picture, and I believe that toning it all down will tie the picture together, while also standing out.

the picture is well balanced, and the font is much better.

It really brings it all together.

I'm an artist, been to art college, and was in AP art all through high school...so that is my credibility.

You will notice that most of them contain elements that clearly define the brand. This is important as it makes it so that anyone can recognize it as a symbol. Interesting, also you do not need to limit yourself to the colors of the site if you do not want to. If someone makes a banner so great then I will change the entire site to match it. But remember the main thing I really want to come out of this is an image that embodies IBIS and can define us as a brand. Now yes such things are generally best bought from some uber graphic pros who are used to making corporate logos but I want our logo and banner to not just be a good "corporate" image but to also be something that the community itself put together. It is very important to me that we end up with something that will define IBIS forever and is also from the community. This way our banner and logo is the full and true embodiment of IBIS Gaming!

Ok i think you guys almost have it. I like the most recent ones christmas did with the CT with the M4 in the gray background. But it needs the IBIS logo. So i think take the logo from inthebutt's most recent one with the bricks and put it in the place where the IBIS logo is iin christmas's. Is that explained correctly?

closer! the script has a bit too much illumination. also try the script scrolling across the top and work from there. I think you're onto something here. some logos of some kind greyed in is a good idea. what though is yet to be seen.

I love this logo. I think its pretty badass, more than the red and blue logos. I think by now there are so many choices that its hard to pick one that we will truly fall in love with. We all have different opinions on style and what looks good. But some great ideas, i never expected to see so many good ones. People could probably take these and make them into signatures or sprays if they wanted to also.

Everything is on its own layer so I can turn individual objects on and off to change it quickly. This includes the colors and transparency too. Like I said before I am good at using these programs but I am no artist. Maybe someone can take my idea and run with it.... (I am not sure I like the cross hairs in the end but like I said everything turns on and off, you need gimp to edit it)

Also the abstract idea is sort of where I was going with that. A image that shows that we are about gaming but that does not tie us to a particular game. This is not to say that is what I want only that it is something I think we should explorer.

Also I have decided that maybe I should allow any banner size and shape but leave the previous specs as a max size. I could even use the logo as the banner as far as I am concerned. Also I have decided that maybe I should allow any banner size and shape but leave the previous specs as a max size. I could even use the logo as the banner as far as I am concerned. For example many pro sites just have a simple logo and perhaps such a strategy would make our site more professional. Examples:

I have not decided on one. I thought you all were still working on different designs. Remember all you are trying to do now is just make a logo. This could be as simple as a custom font or as complex as you want. Once we have a good logo, by this weekend then I will decide if I am even going to use a banner and if so then coming up with a background that matches the chosen logo should not be hard.
