Steam Icons off for now

I am thinking that the mega lag on the webserver is caused by a data flood that results from the dynamic steam icons. For now they are disabled for testing to see if it fixes the problem. If they are indeed the cause they will return after I reprogram them to cache data and better handle the heavier traffic that the forums now get. :smirk:

I've noticed that the forums are going incredibly slow today. Also that they stopped working for about 10 minutes about a half hour ago.

yeah the forums stopped working for about 30 minutes when I was trying to post the updated banner.

we are getting alot more people on the forums now. I think everyone who plays on a regular basis should have a forum account and be on it posting everyday.

The forums are messed up Fred, It was by accident. Takes so long to load pages you forget what you clicked previously.

Actually I think it is more likely a dos attack or some program on the webserver not being configured correctly. We will be doing a overhaul of the web server today to work on problems.

But yea, the cpu usage is low and I can not really track bandwith because the monitor is broken. This is what leads me to believe that it is a DOS because nothing else really fits...

There's a fine line between gibberish and understandable writing. Have you taken a look at some of these kids Walter? Why bother picking on the little tiny errors and mistakes I make when there's people who are easily 10 times worse than myself? It looks like you're purposely trying to start something, especially when I told you not to reply to my post, because it was only there to explain the reasons behind my actions. It wasn't posted to be commented on or to be mocked.

My grammar might not be perfect but neither are you. Perfection is an opinion, a perception. Or perhaps, satisfaction is perfection. If it satisfies you to make your grammar as correct as possible, then who am I to tell you to do otherwise?

It could be that I'm wrong. Maybe you're trying to do me a favor and teach me. You wouldn't bother saying anything if you didn't care.
