Ill describe my equipment for now :D

Tippmann Alpha-Black Tactical.
16 Inch Aggressor barrel.
Recently custom spray painted some of the parts like the Magazine and the foregrip, butstock.
Looks great XD
I use a FirePower Modular Airsoft and Paintball Tactical Vest (Woodland Digital)
Molle tank pouch (Woodland Digital)
Empire E-Vents (Urban Digital, ordered the wrong color, custom paint soon :D)
A Ninja Paintball Remote line with Slide Check valve.
Operator Tactical Gloves.
Nice ALTA Superflex Knee Pads - Multicam (Woodland Digital)
All of this is from OpsGear, Cept the Vest.
Great Quality.

Total: 500$

Soon Im gunna save up for a cyclone feed and the 50 round hopper because big hoppers bother me.
I go for quality in my shots not quantity.

I had a cheap 50 dollar paint ball gun, I use to go paint balling with a few friends. I remember Easter day when I got my gun so did every one else. It was a raining day, and the mud in the woods were up to my knees so it was a pretty messing game but it was alot of fun. But getting shot in the neck hurts sooo bad.

I wouldn't. I tried special barrels, such as the flatline and hated it. Just get a regular barrel.

my beef with airsoft is that people just cheat left and right, cause there's no way 2 prove you actually hit someone, when I drill you in paintball, I know damn well I got you cause it's visble with a mark.

Yeah, there is no physical way an air soft pellet could hurt more than a paintball. Im not saying air soft does not hurt, I'm saying paint balls hurt more. I bled a few weeks ago from one, still have a bit of scar tissue there, I'll try and upload a picture.

Also, I like air soft too, couldn't get into it because NO ONE plays air soft in PA. Skirmish got me hooked on paintball, for life yo.

I'll only play Airsoft at a field that only allows rentals. A friend had to have surgery to remove a pelt from his hand when some jackass tricked up his gas gun too far. He still can't move his ring finger as well as he could before the incident.

I had a Tippman Prolite that I bought used from a field and fixed as a teenager. I milled the insides down an extra three millimeters and applied a coat of special epoxy that is frictionless when dry. Did the same thing to a bolt I bought, installed a three valve system to allow for a high pressure tank, removed some unnecessary metal to make it lighter and altered a hopper so the paintball weight was balanced above your wrist.

Anyway, stopped playing after most of my paintball teammates moved away for the military and sold the gun for more than three times what I put into it. The guy lives in NJ and I use to see it in tournament pictures a few years after but not anymore.

I miss my baby. I'll rummage for photos in my parent's basement next time I'm over.

Well it's been I while since I've played paintball and felt it so its probably why i think it hurt more. Just cant recall the pain. We usually played in the winter time as that's when most of my friends and myself weren't busy with every day life. So much fun, but don't have the time to play or want to sink the money into it lol.

it's the same here. no 1 plays airsoft, other then like 13 year old kids in there backyard. I don't hate airsoft or anything, I just think it's lame unless you're doing it professionally. There's just so many paintball fields it's not really hard 2 find a game or people 2 play with heh.

You understand that a larger surface area means that the force is spread over a wider area and causes less damage in comparison to a smaller object of the same force, right?

The difference is that a paintball moving at 300 fps hurts more than an airsoft pellet at 300 fps because a paintball is over three times heavier (3.2 grams) than the heaviest airsoft pellet (.80 grams). That same airsoft pellet is also used for gas-powered guns.

For the record, paintball is much more badass than airsoft. I had an m4a1 airsoft about four years ago and the damn stock broke off less than a year after owning the damn thing. I was so pissed.

How much did you pay for it, and do you remember what brand it was? There are some very shitty no-name brands out there, that use hard plastic for their guns rather than actual metal. Just crs.

ya that's the prob though. airsoft in most places isn't big enough 2 justify spending 300+ dollars on a good airsoft gun.

i have an Apex and its one of the greatest things ever. i never use the curve or anything but the distance and accuracy bonus is great. i can shoot a football field on a day with not much wind.

i would also recommend a python barrel kit. its made for woodsball and it's around 2 inches long and attaches to the end of the marker and whatever barrel you want on the other end. it has inserts to match the balls you use and really tightens up accuracy, especially at long ranges...

I prefer airsoft over paint ball, but yes there cheaters. I had a friends named tracey... that cheated all the god damn time. I can shoot the M1 Grand up to 100 feet without wind perfectly and I know I sniped tracey a few times and the bitch says I never hit. But Airsoft is more fun I think, personally there more real looking and they hold more bullets and there just more fun.

paintball is a game of skill, you don't need a magazine with 700 shots in it Lol + several back up magazines. sure the guns look more realistic, but who cares, if I wanted realism id go buy a real gun heh. but even with the fact you can get exact gun replicas for airsfot, when you shoot them they sound retarded so it kinda ruins the cool factor. but like I was saying generally airsoft is people fucking around in there back yard. this saturday if anyone is within the driving distance of red rock, AZ we are holding desertball game from 9am to when ever we run out of paint. included in the field is an old run down cement factory that has been given the nickname ALAMO, a dried up river bed that surrounds the cement factory and plenty of sniping positions in the ALAMO and outside in the surrounding area.

if anyone that does live near there, PM and I'll give you all the intel you need.

oh and to stay on topic, paintball is way better than airsoft. I've played it a couple times cause the local field has just started doing it and it sucks balls, so many people get hit and don't surrender. the only time people will confirm their hit is when you within 15 feet of them, basiclly shooting pointblank at their back hahaha.

I can't speak for the majority, but I know plenty of soldiers who think like maynard, and serve because they love the structure of the military, the benefits, the friendships, to say "i served for your beliefs, and your freedom", for respect, to say i'm a proud soldier of the US Armed Forces, and the money when they get deployed. This is like a conversation between me and 3 other recruits plus 3 Army sergeants all with their own political views on WHY exactly they went to war. So to be honest... keep thinking what your thinking maynard. Fuck how thin skin people can get by opinions and beliefs. Funny I thought thats what we went to war in the first place for? I like to discuss the facts. The fact is not all Americans are sheep (and that goes for any country and its citizens) and there are unfortunately conflicting statements on why the United States went into Iraq, but that doesn't mean that people can throw their opinions around (especially the "America sucks and is trying to steal all the oil). I could easily counter that and say that the US could just make some shrewd business decisions and take Canada's oil, since they aren't going to do anything about it. Both are just opinions and mean jack without actual elaboration.

Was it to "steal" oil? I sincerely doubt that. Is there more to the story? Of course. Was Saddam Hussein a terrible dictator? Absolutely. Anything else you would like to discuss?

Common story. Same shit happened in Vietnam. The U.S. government supplied the Reds the weapons, the plans for munitions, and didn't blockade the ports to prevent shipment of weapons from the Soviet Bloc. Don't take my word for it. This was told by a Vietnam Vet who lost both legs in the war.

American soldiers and troops were killed because of the American government and politicians. I would like to say "FUCK YOU VERY MUCH AND BURN IN HELL" to every bastard politician who is even partially responsible for the loss of honorable men who gave the supreme sacrifice to fight a war in vain.

You obviously haven't been or lived in Europe. Airsoft is big in Sweden, Britain, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, and Spain. Those are the ones I know about because my supervisor takes 2 weeks of leave to go to competitions. Paintball is only really big in the states. Basically Paintball is American football as Airsoft is European football.

obviously airsoft aims at being about realism that's the key goal. paintball started as an advanced form of tag. paintball has never been about trying 2 replicate real gun fights lol. it would be nice if you airsofters could realize that and not troll every paintball thread in existence going "airsoft is better cause the guns look more real!"

oh and as for your "you havnt live in Europe bit" my background is 100% German, and ive been there.. paintball is played in over 110 countries, it's televised and has several multi million dollar franchises and events behind it. you can argue all you want, paintball is bigger, played more through out the world, and has far more money and people behind it. and those rap 4 guns, are the most realistic gun on the market. show me a airsoft replica that's an EXACT replica, and shoots out a metal casing on every shot.

id say invert.... but all best is, is a matter of opinion. all the diff brands of pants are designed 2 fit a certain way, some have perks others don't. depends on your height/weight and what you're lookin for. I Suggest going 2 your shop and trying some on so you get a feel for them before buying.

actually the paintball shop near me only carries dye and empire pants.

I like the dye for the ventilation but the empire pants have zipper pockets.

Invert I would have to order online and I don't know how they feel.

the empire are the one I'm leaning towards.

I actually used to play semi pro!

I worked for WGP as a tech for a long time too. This is going back about 5-6 years though. Played the IAO and World cup events traveled all over the east coast playing and competing in the Am division.

Still have my Custom E-blade cocker I built with Bud Orr at the IAO also have a PGP, splatmaster, and a old titan with dual tanks, scope and a home made grenade launcher for scenario games hahahaha. Ever since the war though I have not played :(

Was in APG a few times wrote the article paintball in cuba published in a nov issue years ago :D

you're clearly very un-aware how big paintball is and how many events there are. you should try doing some reading. paintball has been around for 30+ years.. hence it's massive following. you can argue till the cows come home, but end result is paintball is WAY bigger, has WAY more money and yes,there are WAY more events. the majority of the l33t airsoft events that happen in europe and the few that happen here are invite only. ive been balling for 12 years, and I did airsoft for 3 years. I speak out of actual experience in both fields.

Ugh speed ball. I hate that. I had rented a tipman and was with a group of 16 people. 5 dudes came and invited all of us vs them in speedball, thing is they all had Angels. Round was over in about 10 seconds. I didn't get tagged because I said I was hit and ran because I was the last guy and I hid behind the floatie thing. and I was NOT about to try to win that one.

Russian legion is 1 of the best speed baller teams on the globe. also with there pod packs they got about 600-900+ paintballs on them each... so I don't really think it's a big deal, more so that there guns can put out 40 balls per second if they want Lol. speedball is an art... that's why I love it. if you're going 2 Germany maybe you should play some paintball when you're there, seeing how it's a big ass sport there as well.:smirk:

I took my G3 out for a run today.

I was accused of ramping and going full auto by another player.

the ref checks my gun immeditaly following the game.

walks on the trigger and gives the gun back to me saying "nope its semi"

followed by the accuser trying to do damage control "oh you have amazing fingers"

followed by me asking him if he would like me to take my two fingers and shove them up his ass than??

he said you don't have to be a prick about it my bad.

I just ordered a Project Salvo Shroud for my Alpha Black, and a Front hand grip. Hopefully it wont look gay with the carry handle and it will look sexy like I hoped. it gives you the needed accuracy ont he last 20 or so feet where the apex starts to drift the ball. i can hit a window 8 times out of 10 from 300 feet away with it.

Edit: As for your Ak shroud you should be okay. I don't see any reason why you would have a problem.

the python is a kit thats about an inch and a half long, it attaches at the end of the gun and you screw the barrel into the other side, kind of like an adapter would work. its got the sleves that come with it to give you the boost.

why does it seem like more people are now making the switch from airball to scenario play??

the field I usually play airball on is now clearing and setting up land for a scenario play.

those fucking games last forever.

besides my ion and G3 weren't built for scenario play.

the LAPCO barrel works best with the A5 like nemesis has and no the air-through your stock will not affect your shroud.

if you play airball I would like to know everyone's division. I am currently playing at the D4 level locally. now with the G3 I feel like I can make the transition to the D3 level and play statewide.

B/c paintball is supposed to be scenario play also as the econ is down the more devoted players make up a larger population of the customer base and those people are interested in real paintball.

Paintball was created by Vietnam vets who wanted the game to simulate conditions in Vietnam. Over time as the sport grew a common problem emerged, people hate to lose to people better than themselves. You see people really hated being killed by people they could not see (snipers) even back in the day when the range was only a few feet! So the following changes where made to solve this problem over time:
Time limit: reduce the time available for the sniper to hide and for you to walk past him.
Field size: reduce field size so we know where he is
Hiding places: reduce hiding places for sniper so we know where he is
Starting locations: make it so we can see people when we start so we know where they go.

Over time these changes mounted and you ended up with speed ball. A lot of people like this today b/c of the fast nature of the game however the real purpose of speed ball is actually to equalize player skill levels down to movement speed because people do not like being killed by snipers.

To prevent snipers in speed ball the game is on a small map where the players can see everyone and with too little time to lose track of anyone. Unfortunately this is not how real combat works. In real combat you do not know where your enemies are and the game is won from intelligence and not from who shoots and runs the fastest. This is the lesson that the vets were trying to teach when they created the sport to being with.

Speedball is for ppl who have time, dedication and money. without those things, you can't play speedball seriously... unless you get a sponsor.

the only dispute ive ever hear was that' It wasn't hayes who started the first game, it was a group of like 12 ppl in new hampshire(1 of them being hayes). all the rest of the stuff I said is a fact, you can go do the research on the companies. paintballs were made in the 60's by the nelson paint comapny, with the key point of marking trees and cattle. the Nelspot 707 is the first paintball marker ever created and it was in the late 60's. you could buy them in agriculture magazines. that is 100% what the basis of paintball was formed on...Not the game! just the point in having the paintballs and the markers for forestry and cattle.

paintballs and the markers were not designed 2 be a game, they were designed for cattle and forestry marking, and that's an absolute fact you can find much info on, including images from the original magazines the adds were in. I also suggest listening 2 the audio file on the first link I showed, where he explains in detail when he formed the first game and how and why it went down.

Wikipedia has become pretty accurate with citations which is EXACTLY what a encyclopedia should be. It's become quite accurate that some professors in universities will allow you to use some information on it as long as you can back up the claims of what's being said.

The only tie of military and paintball is now its used to reenact live combat training, and play out scenarios at military bases. However, that wasn't implemented until the 90s.

I used to use the HALO hopper as well and it couldn't keep up with my fingers.

it would but the rotor just does it so much smoother and the greater advantage is that the ball feed on the rotor is in the front compared to the halo being in the back.

sometimes I would have to tilt my marker back just to get ball into the feed.

one skill I have just picked up and can actually do without messing up is learning how to estimate how much paint is left in the hopper and refilling it at the right time and while putting paint on a bunker.

ya... I play woodsball mostly even though I'm a huge speedball fanatic... but even in woodsball the fucking halo b wont keep up. I go and storm a bunker, start shooting and nothing happend cause my fucking halo is jammed, happend like 5 times last year... not impressed. ill be picking up the rotor in about 2 months.... looking forward 2 it.

and as inthebutt said lol there's no secondary in speedball, if your 500-900 paintballs don't hold up, then you're fucked lol

My dad still has a Splatmaster Pistol. It was one of the first guns they made, all plastic and with 2 barrels, one for balls and the other for firing. I still use it lol.

Dam no secondary, I have actually taken peoples guns during a small game elimination before. I ran out of air and found some little kids with rentals that were camping and let them hold my gun and in exchange I took one of theirs. I then went out into the middle of the field and walked around and killed what was left of the other team. It was so funny b/c the campers were like stay here it is safe and I go watch this I am going to stand on top of this hill and kill everyone with no cover. lol

Actually I thought there was only one guy left and I knew where he was but it turned out there was a camper on the other team that was hidden to my left. Luckily he could not aim and missed hit first shot. As soon as I heard hit gun I dropped to the ground and shot him as his paint flew overhead. At this the guy in the bunker that I was shooting at and walking toward tried to jump out but was then shot as I started shooting back at him right after I hit the other guy.

I play in the woods on fan made courses. I play far 2 often 2 pay an admission and field paint fees everytime.

there's a huge PB community where I live. there's 3 courses set up in the woods where I play, and every Sunday there's a big ass game that generally turns out 2 be about 100+ ppl.

lol It's a barrel tip Zero. It's a ramping system that gives balls a spin, which allows them to get better distance and the barrel tip itself spins so you can preform trick shots. Zero would you mind making this a Sticky thread ? :3 DO IT IT'S CHRISTMAS !

even tippmanns with RT triggers are getting destroyed by any type of speedball gun.

I was at the local paintball store today and they just got in all the new field apparel for 2010 from DYE, empire, planet eclispes and NXE.

got new arm guards, empire ground pounder shirt and slider pants.

as for my next marker I'm seriously thinking about an ego or a bob long vice.

I'm not going 2 list all my personal reasons as 2 why speedball guns are better... but I will say this... go and play a real team of speedballers with a team of your friends using woodsball guns. when your entire team is out within the first 25 seconds of the match, and you didn't even come close 2 hitting 1 of the other team, you'll know why they're good.

it happens all the time. cause speedball guns can actually be used in both games... un-like woodsball guns.

plus woodsland markers aren't designed to shoot 25+ balls a second.

woodsland markers are for people who are interested in milsim like RES is.

you wouldn't go play golf with a baseball bat would you??

so what I don't understand is why people try to play speedball with milsim markers.

speedball is about speed, games usually last no more than 5 minutes.

and if you want to use the right equipment than you better get ready to pay the right price for it.

plus alot of paintball shops will price match high end markers.

OD Green is supposed to blend with your surroundings, I did that because I like the way it looks. I wasn't gunna spray paint my whole damn gun to make it camo.. Also, at 40 BPS a normal 200 round hopper will run out in literally less than 4 seconds...

yes the DYE rotor can do 40 balls a second but you'll never really use it on a speedball field.

most fields and tournaments will limit you to around 15-20 bps.

if you still wanna wrap your mind around it, just imagine being on the receiving end of it. the guy pulls the trigger and 40 balls come out. the first one will hit the other player and if he stays in the same spot 39 more will hit him too.

imagine that 39 bonus balls lol.

D4 is what I wanna play. although alot of people tell me I belong in the D3 league. screw that, way too many bad refs in that division.

as for gear:

goggles - proto axis pro enigma
elbow pads - planet eclipse 09 distortion
chest protector - planet eclipse overlord shirt
slider shorts - empire ground pounder slider pants
knee pads - planet eclipse 09 distortion
cleats - nike track and field cleats
jersey - differs, my team has a bunch of team jerseys from dye to empire to smart parts
pants - I always wear empire, right now I have the LTD skyline pants from empire
marker (gun) - 09 planet eclipse ego white and black with a custom grip
air source - a 50/4500 ninja carbon fiber air tank
barrel - 14in ego barrel
gloves - don't like to use them but I do have a pair of empire freedom gloves.

I also have a smart parts ion dynasty version as a back up gun. a huge planet eclipse gear bar to carry all this stuff around. oh and instead of wearing those gay bandana's that look like mullets lol, I wear an awesome turtlecap.

i love to get bounces where I can on my gear.

I buy most of my gear from ansgear.com, I highly recommend it to anyone who is in need of new gear.

just remember paintball is a luxury sport, if you don't have the money to pay and play, than you shouldn't be playing.
