Where were you on 9/11? How old were you? What do you remember when the Twin Towers fell?


I thought that it would be interesting to see where everyone was during this tragedy. Get different perspectives.

I was in the 5th grade and the whole school was watching it on tv. I thought the worst part was when the planes hit. I was really too young to understand. It seems a lot worse to me now and the fact that two huge buildings like that fell is catastrophic. It scares me. It seems worse now than it did then. Today is also my best friends birthday.

i was in middle school. 6th grade im pretty sure. but we were all pulled into our classrooms and they told us not to turn on the TVs and we didnt change classes for the rest of the day. i found out when i got home and it was pretty horrible to see. it still makes me angry thinking back on it with all the innocent people who were lost...

Senior year in high school. 16 years old. First period Senior English Lit class. Health teacher next door screamed "their bombing us" we turn on the TV. We were upset. The fact that we live next to an Air Force Base made things 10x worse with the jets passing over us every 15 minutes.

I was in 8th grade. I remember they took us out of class and had the 8-6 grade classes all together in the large room that separated the classes. We were told that we have been attacked and that the TWC in NYC had been destroyed. They did not tell us anything other than that and as we waited for our parents to come and get us all I could think of was who in their right mind would attack us and when and how we were going to strike back. I remember on the drive home wondering if we were being invaded and was looking out the window for bombers. When I got home I found out that the attacks were done using commercial air plains. Being young I still figured that only nations make war and so I wondered who could be behind it. Were they using this as a cover for an actual military offensive. I was watching the news for only a few min when the Pentagon was hit. I recorded the entire thing on my computer (records lost due to HDD failure) as I saw the damage at the Pentagon and later the news about the final downed plain. My dad was away at the time and I also worried about if he was in NY but luckily it was not long before I got word he was ok. I watched the rescue efforts and then most of the day I waited. I remember that every second I waited to hear of news of another attack or what our military was doing, it never came and that night I went to sleep wondering what would happen.

Early in the morning sitting in Grade 9 Math. The math teacher had the radio on and I overheard some of what was reported. I didn't realize at that moment the extend of the disaster. We moved to Science class, but then my mother got me and my siblings out of school and we went home (to our old house), where we turned on the TV in the basement to watch the news. That's when the full impact of the events became clear.

I just remember being 12 at the time in my science class with ms dodge who had just come back from kemotherapy (she died a year latter during my first year of high school, we had already lost our vietnam vet history teacher mr santos to a heart attack that year) and seeing the vid of it on the news thinking it looked like a bit from a movie

Actually it was the American people who wanted them rebuilt the government wanted to create a bunch of other stuff and then special interest jumped into the mix and then 8 years later we have not really done anything. Also with the way things are today we probably can not build things that high anymore becuase if they fall a bird might get killed and therefore it is not safe to make large buildings that have the possibility to endanger birds and other animals that might not be able to escape.

As far as kill switches go it might be a good idea to have one that turns control over to the ground. When switched it puts the plain on auto until it gets a remote connection that allows a ground operator to safely land it. This way the plain can not get hacked into as it has to allow the connection on its end via the switch and it also makes it so it has the possibility of a safe landing.

Possibly, but the problem is that everything we are talking about now is in hindsight.

9/11 was the first time in the history of air travel that a commercial airliner has been used as a missile. No one could have predicted this and unfortunately many steps to prevent such an event (such as profiling or stricter security) from happening would be considered either infringement on people's freedoms or too much money to actually run.

It is a tragedy, but the fact is that 19 men run by a terrorist organization took arguably the most powerful country by surprise and changed it forever. The US has no one to blame but the organization behind it.

Of course those who live in an extremist society would hate that Americans don't follow the same ideals as them. That Americans don't force women to wear garb covering their entire body, and don't charge a woman with a crime for being raped. Do you know anything about the history of Muslim extremism, or are you too blinded by anti-conservative propaganda that you think every problem in the world is the United States' fault?

I looked at both sides. I looked at Conservative and Liberals, republicans and democrats. I read books, watched a shit ton of documentaries. I read conspiracy theories about 9/11, I read books where they got debunked, then I read books where those debunks got debunked themselves. I read and watched books on politics, become obsessed with censorship in the United States. One string of information lead me to the next. The Conservative ideology is ludicrous. Conservatives EAT up the propaganda like crazy because a lot of them do not think for themselves. They believe whatever fox news tells them without giving it a second thought. Same thing with Liberals too. However, I am Libertarian so I do not really bother with that mess. I do not believe in any propaganda. I make my own conclusions based on several different things. True. But then again Christmas its one of those things that been debunked by one person then someone else debunks that debunk then it gets to the point of credibility of the film in question. It was my sophomore in High School and was sitting in TV Production and the teacher wasn't in the classroom yet, like usual. Then all of sudden the door quickly swung opened and he told us to turn on the TVs. Confused we went to the main production room with the wall full of monitors, about 9 or so. As the monitors turned on, I could see smoke and building in flames, now being duplicated amongst all the screens along the wall and all I can think of was ""what is this". Then after a minute or so goes by all of a sudden, LIVE! I see a second plain crashing into the second tower. Ill never forget that day.
