My grafix card has now broken and will require a $300+ replacement :banghead:

For now I am switching to be backup equipment however those components are shared between multiple computers. In other worlds the computer will assembled and dissembled multiple times per day as needed.

I just hope that the replacement card does not break too...

Sucks to hear Zero, hopefully you get it fixed soon.

As for the "delay" in "activity"...what activity? Are you referring to all the updates and whatnot coming up?

EDIT: Would you mind posting a thread with all of the updates you are planning to do in the upcoming weeks/few months? Admin levels, ZM changes, pub changes, GG changes...everything? Just so everyone can go into 1 place and find their answers to all of their questions. I keep getting questions while playing in game when everything is going to happen and what is actually happening so I think it would be highly beneficial of you to do that.

Thanks.

It has to be replaced with a 280gtx 1gb or it will not work or unless I spend an additional $200 on new heat sinks.

If the card really is bad it would mean that every part in my computer except for the cooling, the cpu, the psu and the HDDs has broken in the last year. Considering that I spent all of my money that I saved for over 5 years on this thing that is pretty fucking sad.

As far as delays this means that regular operations will be slowed and that there will be no major server updates for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Looks like my blocks also work on the 260 so I might just buy one of those and save $50-150. Also it turns out the 280 had a really high failure rate and thus a second one might not be the best solution...

Can't you get a 260 locally instead of ordering it online?

In Kentucky, maybe I could fine a 9000 series for 500$... fuck that also it has to be a 260 and finding that here and the 55nm version can not happen.

That is why I am going to replace it with a cheaper unit becuase the 300 series comes out in the spring and then I can just use the card as a ppu.

Also think of it this way if you got a ferrari and it was hit by a meteor was it a bad investment. No as there was nothing that could be done about the meteor. If you had bought something else it could also have been blown up and it could also have been ok. There is no way to predict unless you just accept that the thing will break at some point. The only question then is how much use can you squeeze out as quickly as possible. (btw that did actually happen to someones Ferrari)

GPU worked and was able to run the css video card test without a problem in my test system. The problem is OS / driver related. I have now ordered win 7 and a 60GB SSD to install a new os. The parts will arrive on Tuesday if they ship tomorrow. Logically I will need to get used to things but I will try to get some server updates out before Friday. On Friday I am leaving the country for vacation for 10 days so there will be no updates during that time. However I should still be able to access internet and do basic admin work as needed. Also today I got a droid and I never imagined the internet was so fast on it! As a result it will be easier for me to keep up to date on the servers ect while on the go (in the states). In a few months I hope to combine these features with an Ion2 system so that I will always have complete control of all of the servers from any location. 2010 is going to be a year of big changes for IBIS and great improvements in quality along with the number of services we will be offering.

If it is an EVGA card they will replace it for free IF you registered it when you bought it.

OK everything on my updated system is running great! Tomorrow I can start getting my access to the server back up and hopefully make a few updates by Thursday. Friday I go out of town for 10 days but admins can still be activated when I am able to access internet. My new system is so much better than before, especially the 26 second boot time! Also I must say that I really have enjoyed the updated in Win 7 and so far this OS is rock solid.

Sounds great! Good to see your systems up and running (so did you get the video card problem resolved?). I'm sure everyone is happy the updates are going smoothly... and I have to agree so far I have been absolutely thrilled with Win 7.... though it makes me think Vista was just a ploy to make us love win7 that much more.

You could always get things localy, but they are just more expensive, and as a person who builds custom computesr and re-sells them, I would suggest getting online, the extra time it may take will help keep money in your pocket.

Oh I do get everything online (with overnight shipping) because they usually do not sell what I need in stores. Also yes the gpu was fine it was just the os that was FUBAR. So far I am really loving win 7, logically I needed to mod it a bit to get it to work the way I wanted but I compare this to XP and I really like what I see.

I also used xp when it first came out and it was no where as good as this is. For such a recently released os it is rock solid, the only crash I have had was also seen in win xp and was from me trying to set my multiplier too high.

Also this new ssd combined with my raid 0 makes shit so fucking fast now! My computer loads so quick it is amazing.
