View Full Version : The new site
So it is time to start looking for the base theme for the new site. Note that regardless we will be customizing whatever we use to be very similar to how it is now and so what we are looking for is a good jumping point. The new site will integrate the website and the forums together and will make it so I can start publishing articles on the site and get some adds.
The two designs I am looking at are below they are for preview only and to show where things will be. Note that the background used in any of these will be what we use. The stuff we are going to change is going to be the icons and font color and not really anything else.

So what ones do you guys like?
I personally like http://www.talktemplate.com/forum.php?styleid=15
Seem little more slick and stylish over the other one

I prefer http://forum-skins.com/forum/?styleid=34.
:wtg:
I like the first design. Minus the copperplate font. The second one isn't that bad, but I have a pet peeve with backgrounds that aren't fixed while scrolling down.
Yea, I would not use that one unless there was a way to keep the background in place.

There is an HTML code to fix backgrounds... problem is you would have to incorporate it between the image code and the website code.
<body style="background-attachment: fixed; background-repeat: no-repeat;" background="xxx.jpg"> is the proper code I believe.

#2 is cool and if u have cold fusion (I think that's the program) u can make the top layer scroll while the background remains the same or vica versa..
Bottom line,, use the one that offers the most bang for the buck on the $$$$ side of the spectrum as that's your long term goal anyway.
I'm sure that after you play around with it that there are mods available that you can adapt to the formating of the site...
My 2 cents
Your show, your go..........

Jeeze, if you're gonna go with the second one, might as well add some palm trees and guys in Hawaii shirts. The wood.. It bothers me on a level so deep I cannot gather the words to express it.
Are you thinking about using those exact same types of colors/backgrounds, or is that just to give us a rough idea?

This.
+fucking1.
I don't like either of them...and the wood bothers me as well.
The other one seems to me something that would appear on a gay porn site.
(not that I've been to one...)

Should be simple as in vb4 all the templets are in full css.

That is what we are using now... they do not have a vb4 skin or we would use that...
Also these are the only two good themes for vb4 right now and there is no cost involved except for vb4 and we bought that like 3 months ago.

if i had to pick one, I would say the first one. Regardless...our forum layout/design/fonts/colors are fine just the way they are. I don't think anyone really cares about the COLORS and font of the forums... Unless people are a bit homo of course.
if you were going to do anything I would just re-vamp the whole layout. My g/f designs professional websites and forums are a piece of cake for her.
www.mybabysgreen.com is her most recent site built from scratch. No templates...nothing. Anyway...just my 2 cents.

i actually like the look of the fonts on the first one (no homo). seriously though, it looks more professional and mature with the smaller font. it gives it a kind of sleek look. and i also like the look of the blue and black theme. not the same blues that are in that first link though, those are too bright. this comment sounded kind of gay but im being serious. i think fonts and colors are a pretty important factor.

The second choice looks good to me..
Should be simple as in vb4 all the templets are in full css.
Oh yeah, that's not an issue. Plenty of CSS codes for fixed background image. Messed around and created plenty of myspace layouts with CSS and background images.
My only thing is what represents IBIS? Colors certainly represent a community or a clan. If it's black/dark grey and blue like I've seen on the forums, then the first one is appropriate. If a dark hardwood floor theme is what you're looking for, then the second one.

I like the secone one, but again because of the moving background (which I know can be fixed). So my vote has to be for number 1
I should note that regardless of which one is used I am going to be altering it to be as similar to this one as possible. Note that a lot of our icons like the reply post quote ect are all custom buttons that we are still going to use. Same with the forum icons basically what we are looking at here is the background and base layout.

Well, as long as we're keeping everything else the same...
But I'm still not a big fan of either one, tbh.
I don't see how the first one is "sleek"...

both of them look just as good as the one we have now. just change our IBIS GAMING header to a better logo and BAM.
we don't need to be worrying about how sweet our forums look. no one really cares IMO.
