who banned an admin!?

i was downloading the new map on my new comp so im sure it was an accident and the name said unnamed cause i didnt set up everything yet but whoever did it your an idiot.... you cant ban people especially an admin if you didnt give them a chance to log in yet...


was banned today at 12:30 a.m. feb 27
probably was an accident because i didnt set my name up yet because of new comp
on the zombie server
was probably blade

Agreed, you need to give a warning to make the name change and even then it's not banable until there is deceitful intent.

yah im like the nicest admin out of all of them, but im sure they didnt know i was admin though. i got this freakin sweet laptop called the ASUS G72, downloaded everything and was just settin up all my key binds and stuff and BOOM i was banned HAHA, im sure it was blade and im sure he didnt know it was me because he likes me anyways but ill have to be faster on my namechange :) i wonder if i can un ban myself??

why would any admin ban a person with the name unnamed, when they could just change his name. we're trying 2 keep the servers populated and running free of noobs, hacks, and probs... banning people for the name unnamed with 0 warning is just a real jerk thing to do.

as for an admin logging on with the name unnamed, well the rules do state.

XI. Names

1) No player shall use a name made to look like another players
2) No admin shall ever use unnamed or unconnected

If there was an unnamed the previous round that was kicked, then rejoined, kicked again then on the round change the admin saw unnamed join. They could be within reason to ban the unnamed temporarily. Add in the additional rule and the technicality of the person using unnamed (seeing as they, themselves, are an admin) and the ban could have been justified.

Without a tag the player is not considered to be an admin on the server. Once they put the tag on it is against the ToS to touch them with admin powers. There are exceptions to this rule, but they are few and far in between.

Yea realize that once certain circumstances are met almost anything is ban able. I just meant as a general thing you cant ban unnamed.
Also considering how many unnamed there are, an admin should check to see if its the same one or a different one, even if it does end up causing more work

I know that I don't check and cross check the steam id's of each unnamed I change the name of or kick. Generally if an admin bans an unnamed it's for 5 minutes and this particular circumstance should be a very rare event.

If the player is concerned enough they'll come onto our forums, post, get unbanned (if they weren't unbanned already) and no harm done. S'all gravy, baby.

Zero has told me himself that if they don't have their tag on they aren't considered an admin and are subject to bans/kicks/etc by standard admins.

Agreed. You just don't ban "unnamed" on the spot. You should warn the person first. Also know that that person can't always change it on the spot. Wait till next round to see if he will change it.

Don't get ban happy though. Mess with the fucker first because most of the time they don't see the warnings. Change his name to something else. For instance

And remember that even when you DO ban an "unnamed" you are not banning the name nor other players from coming in with that name... you are actually banning by the steam id associated with that specific name at the time... most unnamed players are new to the game... remembers all you veterans... unnamed is the generic name given upon new install... if we ban all the unnamed than they might never be come someone worth remembering because they will get discouraged and not continue to play... think of the future... warn then warn again... then kick them... a good noob will soon ask how to change their name to begin with...

too bad a server message could not go out to all unnamed players upon coming onto the server, to change thier name and even give the command of how to do this, and if the name remains on the server for more than three rounds without changing it would auto-boot them like AFK's... since it is automatic it would not discriminate, and provide fair warning and crisis averted...
