What do you guys think of this song?

Not how it sounds, but the meaning.

There's a shadow just behind me
Shrouding every step I take
Making every promise empty
Pointing every finger at me

Waiting like a stalking butler
Who upon the finger rests
Murder now the path called "must we"
Just before the son has come

Jesus, won't you f**king whistle
Something but the past and done?
Jesus, won't you f**king whistle
Something but the past and done?

Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start this over
Why can't we drink forever?
I just want to start this over

I am just a worthless liar
I am just an imbecile
I will only complicate you
Trust in me and fall as well

I will find a center in you
I will chew it up and leave
I will work to elevate you
Just enough to bring you down

Mother Mary won't you whisper
Something but what's past and done? [x2]

Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start things over
Why can't we sleep forever?
I just want to start this over

I am just a worthless liar
I am just an imbecile
I will only complicate you
Trust in me and fall as well

I will find a center in you
I will chew it up and leave
Trust me [x5]

Why can't we not be sober?
I just want to start things over
Why can't we sleep forever?
I just want to start this over

I want what I want [x4]

This is what I get out of it:
I am is a reference to God; in the bible god says "I am what I am"

That being said, this song is basically an attack on religion.

Jesus won't you fucking whisper?
Something but the past and done?
I think the author is saying he would really like to have a god, but there really is no recent proof of his existence; humans are taking the word of a book that was written thousands of years ago.

Why can't we not be sober?
I think the author is saying why cant we be sober when thinking about religion.

Assuming that "I am" is a reference to god, I think the rest of the song is self explanatory.

what do you guys think(not about religion, well maybe, but I'm more interested if I am interpreting this song right..)

Tool is by far one of the most lyrical and musically skilled bands alive. They are VERY intelligent about the truths to society and religion. They are some of the few who look past it all. Yes they attack religion, they are intelligent.
