I will start off:

I guess Ill start with the most recent thing I finished.

I just finished Soul Eater
It was good and had lots of potential, there were so many concept that if they ran with them, it could have been possibly one of the best animes ever made, however they were limited. The production had to follow the Manga, yet not (its still going on) so there is a fake ending(it did kick ass but Maka transforming there was so god damn shonen cliche it wasnt funny) It delved very far into the thought of what fear is.

Yea that would probably be best. I wanted to make this thread less structured than the other one I made so that people can make regular posts and are free to update as they wish.

However the point of this thread is to ONLY post what you have just completed. As we get more people this thread will be more active with people updating it with recently completed series. Unlike the anime list thread that lists everything with no real time based relation. This thread is meant to be more active and subject around what you just finished watching in its entirety.

If you want you could make a thread called I am watching... that is similar but just details what you watching right now.

Um

I have finished Death Note.

Shinigami own notebooks called “Death Notes” which are used as killing devices. Whoever’s name they write down in a death note will die within 40 seconds. Shinigami Ryuk dropped his Death Note in the human world where it’s found by honor high school student Light. With the death note actually having directions in it for its use, Light discovers he now has the power to discreetly kill people, and with this new power he plans to change the world in his ideal world by killing off criminals. Eventually the governments of the countries around the world notice the unusual amounts of deaths of their criminals, and figure out someone is behind them, but they have no way of discovering it themselves. That’s when they hire L, a master detective, to find out who is behind the murders.

Very good and addicting anime from the start. I sort of agree'd with Light nearly from the beginning to the end of the anime except where some instances just were to "wrong".

I could of swore I saw a trailer for that anime on youtube.

And I just finished.

Time of Eve

In the not too distant future androids have come into common usage. Rikuo, who has taken robots for granted for his entire life, one day discovers that Sammy, his home android, has been acting independently and coming and going on her own. He finds a strange phrase recorded in her activity log, "Are you enjoying the Time of Eve?". He, along with his friend Masaki, traces Sammy's movements and finds an unusual cafe, "The Time of Eve". Nagi, the waitress, informs them that the cafe's main rule is to not discriminate between humans and androids. Within the cafe androids do not display their status rings, and, when patrons depart, the door is automatically locked for two minutes to prevent someone from following them to discover their true nature.

The first few episodes involve conversations between Rikuo (usually accompanied by Masaki) and the cafe regulars: the bubbly Akiko, child Chie and her elderly guardian, the lovers Koji and Rina, and others. These conversations make frequent allusion to Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics, often highlighting surprising interpretations of those laws, some of which form apparent loopholes. The overarching plot involves the beginnings of independence displayed by the androids, what they do with that independence within the bounds of the three laws, and what motivates them. Secondary plots involve the individual stories of each android the protagonists encounter in the cafe, and how they come to discover which patrons are androids and which are not.

I recommend this anime alot since. The downside i found of this anime was that it was only 6 episodes and the episodes were rather short.

Baka to Test was pretty funny. Its a series pretty much imitating stuff you would see from studio Shaft, and they did a pretty good job at it. It was slightly generic, but really funny to watch. The evangelion parodies in one of the episodes made me lol hard

Already seen it. I usually go through giant lists of animes and watch the first few episodes to determine if I like any or not, then finish it or move on. Gunslinger Girl kind of disappointed me since there wasn't as much action as I had hoped by the time I finished it, but there was a few nice songs that I ended up getting from the OST.

There needs to be more animes with action that don't involve mechs. There probably are, but I can't find them.. And I don't mean like, watching two people have a stare-off for 4 episodes then fighting for like 3 seconds, which ends up to be nothing but a bunch of flashes.. I know animation is costly, but they did a damn fine job in Samurai Champloo and Soul Eater.. Even though the manga for Soul Eater had more jokes..

Any suggestions?

well, hellsing, pumpkin scissors, trinity blood, and kaze no stigma are all mechless (ish, trinity blood has big-ass tanks, but they're never really featured) and great action series. pumpkin scissors is also hilarious at the same time, and has a kickass intro song.

Hellsing was slow.. It was more like.. A bunch of talking for an entire episode, then Alucard just completely owning everyone without even trying in like 5 seconds.

Trinity Blood was one of my favorites though.. I'll check out the other two.. Even though the one sounds like Avatar..

You know how TTGL is a parody on the Mecha genre? well Needless is a parody of the Shonen. For the most part the show is highly entertaining and makes fun of many Shonen cliches. It also makes huge fun of the whole lolicon thing going on in anime. However when they try to make Needless a serious shonen like in episode 15-17, the show falls flat on its face and is just a below avredge shonen.

If you like romance and comedy mixed in with your action you can try To Aru Majutsu no Index or Shakugan no Shana, but the one that I think you'll really enjoy is CANAAN. I generally hate and despise using awkwardness as a sense of humor but this show pulled it off... for a while. Once they tried to put in a plot the show went downhill, fast. The main character was extremely, extremely dense, and I could not for the life of me figure out why the president even liked him. the first 6 episodes 4.5/5, the rest 2/5. and the last episode that was completely random and stupid. a 1/5 :plzdie:

After being threatened by extinction at the hands of alien invaders called the Zentradi, humanity undertook the task of guaranteeing itself a future by launching fleets of colony ships into space. On Macross Frontier, one such fleet, high school student Saotome Alto's life is changed forever: the fleet is suddenly attacked by unidentified creatures while he is performing aerial stunts for a concert by the wildly popular idol Sheryl.

Alto quickly finds himself in the cockpit of a new-model fighter struggling to protect Ranka Lee, a young girl he met only hours earlier, from the invaders' swath of destruction. Action, Comedy, Romance, Military

The government has passed the Media Betterment Act, establishing a military police force to stop the spread of "negative influences harmful to society;" and in response, libraries have organized their own military units to protect freedom of expression. After being saved by a Library Defense Force agent in a bookstore, Kasahara is inspired to enlist in the Library Defense Force. Although she proves quite athletic and capable, she must endure the harsh but meaningful training of her instructor and superior officer, Doujou. Kara no Kyoukai

http://kankeishorui.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/kara-no-kyoukai.jpg

Based on a novel by Nasu Kinoko, writer for TYPE-MOON. Kara no Kyoukai plays in a parallel universe to that of Tsukihime. Considered the precursor/inspiration for the story of Tsukihime.

From a long sleep, Ryougi Shiki awoke.
As an after effect, she gained the power to perceive the death of things.
A power to kill anything with just a knife lures Shiki into a dark world.
The murderer from two years ago.
Swarm of floating ghosts
A girl who can bend things by just looking at them.
A spiral construction which collects people's death.
When numerous bizarre incidents collides with Shiki's Mystic Eyes...
her lost memories reawakens---.

The main character, Ryougi Shiki, was involved in a car accident and fell into a deep coma for two years. When she finally awoke from it, she had gained the “Eyes of Death Perception” ability but believed to have lost something instead.

The Ryougi family attempted to create human beings that exceeded normal humans, and to accomplish this, they trained their children in various martial arts and fencing, and also made them split their personalities. They believed that by using this method, one personality could be an expert in one subject while the other could be a master of other subjects. Shiki was no exception to this, and she had a masculine and feminine side that switched places with each other.

After having woken up from the accident, Shiki believed that her masculine personality side had died during the accident. Instead she tried to supplement the spiritually dead Shiki's personality by her masculine tone.

I loved the way this series came together :wtg:

The story is set in the Sengoku period. A rounin called Nanashi (meaning 'nameless') saves a young boy Kotarou and his dog Tobimaru at an abandoned temple. Kotarou has no family, is pursued by a mysterious militia organization from China and hires Nanashi as his bodyguard. Amongst the men who pursue Kotarou is a man called Rarou, a very skilled warrior with blond hair and blue eyes. He obeys an old man called Byakuran and is a member of the Chinese militia. Unlike his companions in the militia, he isn't serving any Emperor and just wants to fight with the strong.

Evangelion: 2.22 You Can Not Advance

Determined to completely renovate the Evangelion universe, last year Anno Hideaki, its creator, embarked on a new tetralogy that made the most of the latest animation technologies and meant a new beginning, closer to his original desires. Evangelion 1.0, presented at Sitges’08, re-updated the series’ first six episodes and Evangelion 2.0 continues the task with the following fourteen. Mari, a new pilot, joins the NERV crew to continue defending Tokyo-3 from the Angels’ attacks as the ‘Third impact’ approaches, a catastrophe that, if it occurred, would permanently change humanity’s destiny.

I would say something to add to this description but your head would explode. :reddot:

I just finished Rosario+ Vampire.

Tsukune Aono is a normal high school freshman who is unable to get into any private school, due to his dismal grades. The only school he is finally accepted into turns out to be a secret school for supernatural monsters and mythical creatures (yōkai), who are disguised as humans. He quickly becomes friends with the beautiful Moka Akashiya, who turns out to be a vampire attracted to the sweet taste of his blood (and Tsukune's only, it turns out). While at first Moka was upset upon discovering that Tsukune was actually a human, she realizes that he's the first real friend she had ever made. Tsukune quickly realizes his admission into a monster school must have been a mistake and fears for his life.

Despite Moka's vampiric nature, she is a kind girl and Tsukune quickly falls for her. Moka also quickly falls in love with Tsukune after they meet. He decides to stay and be near her, despite the various dangers. He must hide his human identity from the faculty and other students, while trying to keep his grades up and avoiding conflicts with the various not-so-mythological monsters lurking around campus. Tsukune soon discovers that when he removes the "rosario" around Moka's neck, she transforms into a super-vampire, stronger and more powerful than almost any other creature at the school. However, in this state, she has an entirely different, often cold and merciless personality, so the rosario is only removed in dire emergencies. Tsukune is the only person who can physically remove it to transform Moka, and only in the case of an emergency (the rosario remains physically bound to Moka, while Tsukune attempts to willfully remove it in a moment immediately preceding, and sometimes interjecting—a malignant situation).

This anime was almost like a hentai basically but i enjoyed it very much. Sadly i don't think there will be a seeason 3.

Does it at least explain why vampires are weak against water? Besides the fact that it has a strong purification effect.

Nope, but running water/holy water hurting vampires has been a long held myth, however a pool is not running water or holy water

but what if a deep-water oil platform in the center breaks? doesn't that negate the holyness?

oh, and i just watched vampire hunter D: bloodlust.

honestly, while the animation was beautiful, the movie sucked. I never got the sense of just how powerful D really is as opposed to the books where you know he's absolutely god.

god no. the undead cannot cross RUNNING water easily. it's because the realm of death is essentially a giant river, flowing through 9 different precincts and 9 different gates to finally culminate at the final precinct. this final precinct is where the dead normally rise up into eterninty. however, because the undead are trying to avoid returning to eternity, and are trying to avoid true death, they dislike crossing running water because it is too similar to the river in death. however, they can cross if a bridge is made out of boxes filled with grave dirt.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya season 2

http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/7343/themelancholyofharuhi30.jpg

On the first day of high school a beautiful girl named Haruhi Suzumiya introduces herself as having "no interest in ordinary humans". She asks for any aliens, time travelers, sliders or espers to join her. Watching her weird behaviour is Kyon who sits in front of Haruhi and is the only person who talks to her. When Kyon comments about Haruhi's joining every club in school and then quitting he unwittingly gives Haruhi an idea to start her own after school club. Thereafter Kyon and several others find themselves dragged, literally, into the Save our world by Overloading it with fun Suzumiya Haruhi's Brigade (the S.O.S. Brigade for short).

Great series and I loved seeing the entire thing. I have seen the first season back when it aired but wanted to wait to watch the second season until after the movie came out so that I would not half to wait so long to be able to see it. Now I really can not wait for the blu ray release so I can see the movie! As far as extra explanation goes I am not even going to try but I will say that you can not call yourself an anime fan if you have not seen all of haruhi, just do it b/c there is no telling what may happen if you piss her off. :reddot:

The one where shinji's eva ate the angel and shed its binders. That scene was drastically different from the other one in evangelion 2.22 AND I posted evangelion 2.22 link that was watchable. Like you didn't have to download anything it was just click and watch.

Just finished Monster, it was damn good for a drama series. It rekindled my spirit towards old-ish anime

ending was also ambiguous, it can be good or bad to some people. Throughout the series main characters die, realistic losses happen, heartwarming moments hit, and amazing villains throughout

Appleseed

http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk110/diabel1/Appleseed/Appleseed-cover1.jpg

A classic, cornerstone film. Set in a world ravaged by war, and buoyed up by one last shining paradise: Olympus. A city inhabited by both humans and artificially created humans called bioroids. These bioroids have been made without the emotions of anger, jealousy, or greed. They run the city, to keep human emotions from causing another war. Enter Deunan Knute [/sp]. She's a warrior, who's been fighting for as long as she can remember. Recruited into the ranks of Olympus's ESWAT (ExtraSpecialWeaponsAndTactics), she comes face to face with a person from her past, who is now metalic and has rabit ears ^_^.

Kick ass movie, much better than the second one, Appleseed Ex Machina. Incredible fights, grafics, and a few mecha. Imagine Ghost in the Shell, but w/ a swat team instead of spys.

5/5

I agree with this guys review of it except I feel he gave story to high of a rating
