Lost my Job!

Sucks i get out of class and listen to my voicemail yesterday this is what i hear.

Josh, this is Bob Shyver we have made the decision to terminate your employment with Teknetix you can pick up your last check friday after 3:00pm.

when i call them to ask them why it is they let me go the response i recieve is even worse. they say they are an at will employer and they do not need a reason to fire an employee so therefore they dont need to respond to my question.
2 weeks ago i requested to be moved from full time employment to part time because college started again and they agreed to it so i was put on evening shift.

the only reason i can come up with is i was 2 days away from a year of employment with them. with that year i would have got a full weeks vacation. so i concluded that they fired me because they did not want to pay out for vacation, but im going to argue with unemployment to try and receive compensation for it.

the great thing about it is now i can get paid and just go to school. also i was head of my department and i was the only one who knew how to build and assemble everything needed in my area, so they are going to be out of money in my area for at least 3 months while they train and certify someone to replace me. which means each week my department doesnt ship is a week they dont make the 68k they had been making. im so glad they never had me train anyone else :) because in my opinion they fucked me over.

send them an email offering freelance work, since there's no-one else they have trained. and then charge them per-job 1.5x what they'd pay.

i would but they wouldnt do that and its ok i hate soldiering the same three parts on a board 1000s of times a week and i hate builinding the shit to ship i hope they lose thier asses.

then legally you could approach the companies they dealt with directly if you felt so inclined. it wouldn't be going outside of any type of union restrictions, and they couldn't sue you for taking their clients if you approached them as an independent outside party. not saying it'd be fun, but more as a "just in case" option

I'm pretty sure there goal wasn't 2 fire you 2 prevent having 2 pay out a weeks vacation when it would set them back 3 months financially lol... that doesn't really ad up... but either way, yeah, sucks, but as you said you can now focus on school and get checks, so.. congrats

As for approaching their clients there is usually some sections in your employment contract that make it illegal for you to act on any knowledge obtained during your time there, this would include things like there clients.

yeh made min wage, um here the products in this website are what i made, i did complete assmebly, pick and place machines soldered the ICs on the boards, and i finished assembly, which means i soldered an average of 4 parts per board, also i encased them glued them and shipped them. my company is paid anywhere from 45-160 dollars per board i send out depending on which board it is. here is the site for the company we subcontract from.
in 1 month i would produce 350 viator usb we get $45 ea, 120 rs232 $54ea, 50 viator bluetooth $60ea, and 100 bullets $160 ea.

there is several steps for each build process.
i went from just testing boards and programming to have 10 times the responsibility, and 2 people under me but was not given a raise. when they put me in mactek the first week i sent 50 Bluetooth and the company (mactek) sent a recommendation letter back for advancement in the company to my company saying they are very pleased with the received product and its the best product they received in the last 6 years. i was amazed so i asked for a raise of course i was denied because of the "low economy" so i kept working 2 months later i received a letter stating how much my department has improved since i took over. so i asked for a raise again and was shot down again for the same fucking reason.:violin:

You may want to look into companies that make amps and dacs for Audiophiles as the work is very similar and quality control is very important.

I use to do basically your exact job solar, pick and place machines, tons of soldering big parts and some so small u gota use microscopes. The job absolutely blew. I used to get headaches from soldering so much, and it got to the point that it was happening every day. Although they did pay better the min wage, thats a rip off. I was making 12.50/hr there.

I don't get how you can get straight A's.. I've studied like 3 hours for each of my classes each day and I only managed a B in Criminal Justice, and a B+ in musical appreciation.

Got A's in Math and English though.

in order to get a job you need to set the cookies down get out of the computer chair and go into the real world. this include meeting people and applying for jobs. lol just playing
