Not quite sure why out of the blue you just decided to Ban me today, i've been playing here pretty religiously for the past month or so now, and ive gotten to enjoy playing with a bunch of the people on the server, including you, so i'm a little confused. In any case, i'd like the ban to be lifted. I understand that i'm probably not going to prove anything to you, but if you saw how i was playing when i first joined the server a month ago, you'd see that i have just been steadily progressing in bringing back my ability. I mean my Steam ID is low 6 digit, and if cheating were actually my thing, i would have lost that a long time ago.

Also Dice, i see that your an audiophile from your profile, and in all honesty, i just got a pair of Sennheiser HD 380's, so i would imagine you would understand that going from playing with generic speakers to using these cans would make a bit of difference...

I suspected you in the beginning, but noticing your 6 dig I was reluctant to make a move against you.

That being said, we have a thread (http://www.ibisgaming.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5372) going with several admins, including myself, sharing demos and experiences about your play. Also, many regulars have come forward with complaints about your inconsistancy. In other words, people find it funny how one moment you're certifiably amazing, the next (conveniently when someone is watching you) you can't hit shit. We've come to the conclusion that a ban and appeal would be the best course of action for the community.

Feel free to review the thread if you wish.

I'd like to ask any and all members of the IBIS community to download and review the first demo linked in the above thread, and give your opinion as to whether this ban should remain in place or not. The file is small enough and isn't too long - it would really help to get more opinions on at least the first piece of evidence.

I apologize for any inconvenience or animosity this has caused you, but we felt it was for the best. I agree, a good set of cans will improve situational awareness a hundredfold, but the issue here is more of your shot placement than that of knowing where people are. I use grados myself, and if I wasn't deaf in my left ear from an errant flight to Texas a couple weeks ago I'd be enjoying them right now =[ Goddamn perforated ear drums hurt!

i have personally speced u at least 27 times, and every time u have that inconsistency that dice talked about , u would go flawlessly getting headshots across the map for 40 times straight and then if u feel that someoen caught on , u start hitting NTHN?
i mean a gd player is either always gd or always bad, not so random.
after i got called in 5 times from another server to spec YOU, i had to bring in the cavalry and get a few other admins with even more experience to watch you. including some VERY high ranked players....
my 2 cents say u are toggling like fuck. which i have to hand it to u , its one of the best toggling i;ve ever seen... if u DO get proven to be guilty of toggling i might even ask u to send me the hacks so i can train on spotting them!!!

On topic ... Judging from what was discussed in the other thread, i believe the ban needs a review, you sound like a solid player, and we have lost too many solid players due to dumbass admins with no eye for hackers banning good players. I will personally review the demo, and see if i cant get someone higher up to look at it for you.

my best friend who was in a cal-m clan in 1.6 (his skill level was prolly more like cal - p/i though) number one complaint was his inconsistency.

As for your reasonings for going ahead with the ban, like i told dice, i get it, and unfortunately its hard to disprove something like that aside from someone actually living in my area, or teamviewer'ing my comp randomly when someone thought i was actually cheating. I'm not going to lie, i'm even surprised with how things have just clicked for me this time around with CS, but hey... i'm not gonna complain about it either : )

Small background on me, I first played CS when it was in beta (the beta for the half-life mod) and got into it in 1.1 or 1.3, forget which. Basically what's going on here is what has happened to me in the past:
I worked my skill level up to a certain point, however, I stopped playing, and basically since that time I've played for periods(the longest was about a year) and then taken 6 months to 2 year breaks. I got nuker into the game one of these times and we had 'training days,' i'll call them, where we'd spend hours on aim_map.bsp for CS. I ingrained into him that you aim for the head, if you don't, you die. I apparently got that stick in his head :p Mind you, this was probably 5 years ago(maybe more, I forget).

So if anyone has not really had the pleasure of taking breaks like this, here is what happens after you come back from a break, sometimes you play at a level that is close or even equal to where you got your skill to originally, and then sometimes the fact that you haven't played for 2 years shows through, and you may as well be using a trackball instead of a mouse (been there, done that, bad call brick btw). The more consistently you play when you come back, the more your skill comes back to the original high that you got it to, but the fact that you're rusty will still show through.

So in short, if getting headshots is wrong, I don't want to be right? >_>

Also, assuming we continue playing on the server, and I start playing more, you're going to see me doing the same things that he's done that's pissed people off (killing people while blinded, headshots galore, shooting people through doors/walls etc). So if this is going to be an issue please say so now...

havent watched the demo(s) yet, but noticed a couple unusual things about the player. 1st, kdr is oddly low for a player with a ban request, 1.37 is only slightly above average for ibis pub. 2nd (and more concerning) the players headshot percentage is extremely high (%65), even for a player who has been playing as long and as well as you claim you have been playing. notice in the top 50 there is only a couple players who come close to that kind of ratio, and you are a substantial amount even above those players.

edit: last session is utterly ridiculous no matter how bad the players you were playing against were. 28-3 is understandable opposing shitty players, but the %82 headshot ratio is nearly impossible under normal circumstances

SuperNukeMan says he intentionally tries to only get headshot kills. Watching the demos with this knowledge - it isn't too hard to see exactly what's going on. This would not only account for his ridiculous HS %, but also for those moments where he appears to "not be able to hit shit". The shots he gets do not appear mechanical in nature at all.

The more I watch these now the more I'm convinced this ban should be lifted, and if it is I accept full responsibility for wrongful ban and any consequences that follow suit.

His scores are usually good and i have spectated him before.. He never seemed walling or hacking to me. Like i said hes a skilled player. I get alot of headshots in the server as well... sometimes the players even think i hack... I can get up to 7 headshots a round which it would be impossible according to hallerwagner. i didnt say it was impossible, i said that its extremely difficult, i could definately believe 7 headshots in a row or a session with an extravagant headshot ratio. but to maintain a 65% headshot ratio over a long period of playing time is extremely difficult, although as dice said, if he ALWAYS tries to aim for the head, i can understand the high hs ratio and the low(ish) kdr

i got called into the server by at least THREE different REGULAR pub members, i speced him for a LONG time, i found him fishy, but i couldnt be conclusive, so i asked the help for OTHER admins and regs to give me their opinion, and based on the TOTAL VOTES, i made my decision to ban him, and LET HIM APPEAL. i didnt just randomly ban the guy.
as far as i know i did the PERFECT job an admin should do, so please, do tell me how i could be acting irresponsibly or abusing my admin with power by answering to people's request to spec him and ask OTHER higher admins and CLAN members to give me their opinion??????

i read his story too, i find that explanatory, and it would make sense if he MEANS to get those HS ...

Obviously i'm not the type of person to get too worked up over this type of thing. As i told Dice, i think what bums me out the most is that my personal character has been tarnished with the label of cheater. which is just not someone i try to be in life. At the same time, the epeen stroke is kinda nice : )

he was banned for looking suspicious because of his high HS killstreak but low kdr, and irregularity. he was banned for ACTING like a toggler, or at least confusing 5 admins to a degree to think he is. once he told us the reason why he would hesitate to kill someone if not HS, it makes sense, it opens up an explanation for his actions, and now opinions shifted. please let this run smoothly and dnt try to cause a fuss around the forums.... thanks.

What im trying to get across here cyber is you banned him with no "real" evidence, your demos and spectates are all biased opinions not actual facts and how many people voted against him? (runaway jury if dice was one. I rest my case cuz hes already said he doesn't care nor has ever played competitively(never played an aim map). Dont be so qucik to cry wolf.

The de_dust demo that I viewed doesn't really seem to show anything other than the usual hitbox lag and a couple of fortunate headshots. He wasn't doing bad, but he certainly wasn't spectacular either. That being said, what was in the demo doesn't exactly correspond with having a 1.37 KDR after 2,700 kills, unless he's suffering from some form of intermittent mental retardation.

What im trying to get across here cyber is you banned him with no "real" evidence, your demos and spectates are all biased opinions not actual facts and how many people voted against him? (runaway jury if dice was one. I rest my case cuz hes already said he doesn't care nor has ever played competitively(never played an aim map). Dont be so qucik to cry wolf.

Nukeman has been playing religiously on your server, never done anything wrong, no flaming etc. Just is a good player, I just was a lil irritated to look at the ban proposal thread and seeing what some people were saying when there is no doubt he is not hacking I don't even see where you guys got the idea. 2 things:
1- i was once banned myself for pretexte hacking, aimbot actually, and that was on another server (forgot the name) because i just happened to have a gd day and killing 20 ppl straight headshots... i know it can be done, and i know what it would feel to supernukeman to be banned for playing the game better.
that said, i did not just ask around for a ban because of THAT day only, for me it was a lucky day to get 20 ppl straight HS, but having supernukeman do that on a daily basis... he was either TOOO good, or well, toggling.
and that is why i asked ppl around for their opinion. please bare in mind that OTHER admins and regs called hacks on him before i even formulated any opinion whatsoever.
2- again, there is nthn u can actually do now but wait like ur friend for other ppl to comment and have a verdict. i didnt ban him bcos i felt like it , trust me , banning him was the last thing i wanted to do considering he was a regular, and that is why my ban request post was LONG and showing how confused i was, instead of just saying "he hacks, banned".
so again, if its a mistake, am not higher than apologizing to the guy, i'd actually ask him to take me to those aim maps and teach me what he knows if i had the chance, but for now... lets wait.

The de_dust demo that I viewed doesn't really seem to show anything other than the usual hitbox lag and a couple of fortunate headshots. He wasn't doing bad, but he certainly wasn't spectacular either. That being said, what was in the demo doesn't exactly correspond with having a 1.37 KDR after 2,700 kills, unless he's suffering from some form of intermittent mental retardation.

... yeah but aim maps do improve reactions and accuracy, especially when played with a small group of people. When reactions/accuracy are added to a person's skill, that directly correlates to competitive play. And im not talking about those ridiculous orange aim maps, i referring to the one's like Yosh referenced 'aim_map.bsp'... just a generic flat map with some boxes.

As for the rest of Trudger's comments, its frustrating to see people get pissed off at someone just defending integrity. I find it hard to believe that any one of you wouldn't do the same for a family member/friend, and although the tact may or may not be there, the fundamental core of the argument is in the right place. The key in every aspect of working with other human beings is to not be judgmental, and try to understand what people are actually trying to convey.

Dice, when this went all down, i politely questioned the reasoning... as i read people's rebuttals/responses though, i realized there is a bit of ignorance coming from various people, especially by people that think they are 'good.' It's a very relative term... you can be 'good' amongst your friends, you can be 'good' in a specific pub, or you can be 'good' in CPL matches. In any case you are comparing yourself to something, and rating one thing against another. I by no means think I am 'good' at this game... In fact i think i'm pretty shitty. Sure i've gotten better over time, but Yosh has taught me a little bit of humility and well i think that has improved my mindset in multiple facets of life. At the same time, one of the reason's i cared about this so much was that there are a bunch of stats being saved on this server with my progression over the past month or so... i've seen substantial improvement in my play, and i had a few goals i wanted to meet before i spread my time out a little bit. In my eyes, to get to that point, personally i must focus on aiming/HS'ing. I have the reactions (.185-.195 seconds) so thats not really my concern. I know HOW to play with an organized team (not that i would get that from a pub anyways), so all there is really left for me to do is work on accuracy. Find a good server with some good ping/reg, decent people, and some stats and i'm good to go.

If you guys don't want to lift the ban, thats fine... If you don't want talent coming into the server, helping to make everyone better... that's fine. This is the internet, everyone has something to prove, especially since they can do it behind a shroud of anonymity... but sometime's you gotta go 8-64 and realize 'Damn, i need to get the fuck over myself...' same here...the ban was made to highlight ur "case" under the assumption that many other ppl supported the unconclusive idea that u were toggling.
but after seeing ur insight of the story, u dnt look like the generic hacker, so from my part, im not enforcing the ban anymore. but im not lifting it either bcos its not up to me anymore.

I've seen that video before and no, its 100% legit. They were ESL players, that played in many tournaments (1.6). I've also seen them play (on TV) some other teams, which they played. You can find the matches on the internet. I remember them playing the SK team, and Team3D team. Team3D didn't make it far but they did win some major competitions.

All my skills were learned from a kid, who helped a Ex-Air Force member (Andrew), who wanted to open up his first Cybercafe pub at Luke AFB. He helped me learn the ins and outs of CS, and he brought me to many aim maps. To help get my aim down and to use my ears instead of my rage (anger issues). Then my friend, who played as well (MiZZ), was awesome with the AWP. So me, MiZZ, and the other guys would play on people's servers together.

At one time (when I was dedicated to about 5-6 hours of CS a day), I would run 53/3 games constantly and we would get banned from servers left and right. It was some good old times :lmao:. When I went to the cyber cafe, I would go to one computer ONLY... NO matter what the circumstances was. That was my computer and I didn't give a crap who was on it. Unfortunately Andrew did give a shit (owner), and he would tell me to set somewhere else.

He owned a T3 connection and his computers were almost top of the line (for that time era of 2003-2005). Eventually I got away from CS and I changed over from Active Duty Air Force to the Guard, through a program called, "Palace Chase". Went back home at 2005, and around 2008... I found out my friend MiZZ died from a brain hemorrhage. The doctors found it weird because he was extremely young but died from a condition, in which older people suffer from. I contribute it to his drinking but I'm not sure.

As for hacking, viewing a handful of clips and making a biased opinion on something without actually seeing anything first hand really shows your ignorance. I wont even recall the point i made before about what defines being 'good' (oops, i just did. PS: if you need to read that post, it's a page or so back.), but i'm just talking solely about making any judgement call without an abundance of evidence. I said this before, aside from someone coming to my house, or remoting into my computer on any given day, i'm not going to prove anything. In the same breath, no one from your side is going to be able to prove that i hack either because well, I'm not. So that brings us to quite a dilemma, which is why I have tried to have people grasp this from a different viewpoint... my integrity. Surely not easy to 'prove', but definitely easier to convey once people are willing to tear the walls down and actually listen. If any particular person chooses to be barbaric and refuses to simply open their ears... well i guess they aren't worth my time anyways...

havent watched the demo(s) yet, but noticed a couple unusual things about the player. 1st, kdr is oddly low for a player with a ban request, 1.37 is only slightly above average for ibis pub. 2nd (and more concerning) the players headshot percentage is extremely high (%65), even for a player who has been playing as long and as well as you claim you have been playing. notice in the top 50 there is only a couple players who come close to that kind of ratio, and you are a substantial amount even above those players.

edit: last session is utterly ridiculous no matter how bad the players you were playing against were. 28-3 is understandable opposing shitty players, but the %82 headshot ratio is nearly impossible under normal circumstances

The KDR would be what a hacker would have, being inconsistent (toggling). The high HS% indicates something fishy. Basically looking at the stats, it's pretty textbook.

I'm tired right now and not thinking straight so it may just be me but that sounds confusing. Directed at me I suppose? Idk what anything after "intentional" says but personally I must say I would think he was hacking. I've been wrong in the past so I won't say I'm 100% certain but yeah. However the question must be raised: if the player is not DOMINATING the server and knows we'll be watching him whenever he's in, is it worth banning him? It's a bit of a mind game really but essentially what we see in the demos is some SUPREMELY SUSPICIOUS activity, but honestly nothing to say beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is hacking. Of course I have not the power to make such a decision, but it may be worth thinking about with the Christmas / New Years spirit going around.

Regarding the HS / kdr ratios, it IS possible that this player was once a God at this game, but took a long hiatus. In this case it is conceivable that he could get good reflex shots and even play expertly well sometimes, while sometimes trying too hard / focusing too much and failing pretty badly. I have experienced such times, but even so it's impossible to deny the fishiness of the demos.
