First off, I'd like to say. Im very pleased to see the support from the community about having the Minecraft Server up and running for the IBIS Community.

Some Basic rules

Rule #:1
Be Respectful of other peoples property and things
-this extended to other people chests and houses
- A decent distance away from other peoples houses would be nice
*someone may not want a tower in there front yard*

Rule #:2
Items should not be given to you
- Dont ask admins and moderators for items
*Part of minecraft is to explore and Find items you seek*

- Only time items may be given is when the community as whole has approved of a project to benefit the whole community.
*Example: Road ways or rail system for the whole community to use

Rule #:3
Do not Grief or cause mischief to others
-killing others for your enjoyment or to steal there items will NOT BE
TOLERATED !

Rule #:4
Use caution when dealing with items that can cause mass damage
- Be careful with fire, TNT, and even creepers.
*other words dont set woods on fire, and purposely make a creeper do damage others*

more rules may apply at later time, and more are listed on the walls in the tutorial area in-game.

UNDERWATER WORLD

is near completetion
the glass house at the bottom is almost complete. The only thing left for me to do i decorate finish planting the reeds and Wheat and... this part ill need help from you all!

due to the fact that water is also measured in blocks.. there is no way it will fill up on its own.. if we want this done we need to start pailing once the time is right

if you are interested in helping me with that final task please let me know. until then i still have some work to do (=

Completed to far

Main Entrance - from spawn follow the cobble stone road, you will see a glass door way

Tree farm - feel free to take the wood from the bottom of the huge tree but make sure to REPLANT saplings in the dirt to help main tain it for everybody

cobblestone chest - inside the work hut i originally started in there is two chests in which i will frequently fill with cobblestone for any player to grab.

Fishing dock - travel underneath the trees onto a stone path along side the pit to find the docks. Inside the chest at the docks is 1 fishing pole for now and two boats and some uncooked fish. there is a furnace there to cook your fish with (BRING COAL). If you use the fishing pole or boats please return them upon finishing.

that is all for now. also feel free to doante any items or resupply saplings-fish-cobblestone if you have nothing to do with it.

Or....simplier, make a branch mine that stops at bed rock. The layer above the first bed rock layer is layer 5. Layers 10-16 have the most chance of diamond.

Server is down because it needs to be updated with Beta 1.2. Since your JAR file is Beta 1.2 and the server is Beta 1.1_02 then it throws an error. Once mag36 gets around to it, the server should be up and running. Here are the updates that came with 1.2:

* Note Blocks (right click to tune, trigger to play)
* 15 wool dyes
* A new water dwelling mob (Octopus)
* New tree types (Birch, Pine)
* Reeds magically turned into sugar canes. They still make paper.
* A bunch of new crafting recipes
* One secret useful block (Dispenser)
* One secret pretty block (Sandstone block)
* Cake
* Sugar - Crafted from Sugar Cane
* Default furnaces given new look
* Bones added to the drop table, exclusively for skeleton archers.
* Bones can be crafted into Bonemeal.
* New gray, light gray, and black sheep. Drop correspondingly colored wool.
* Tools made out of stone are more durable.

Bugfixes:

* Paintings work in multiplayer
* Disconnecting while riding no longer keeps the player in the world

you can also render the map in day, night, and by color ratios ect.

The world map alone (our world) is over 14000 files now when Last friday was only 8000.

So its just taking a while to transfer files.

And Also hey0 mod is down and I cant seem to get to the forum site to see if theres an update(probably flooded with other admins trying to do the same). so it looks like we will be on the basic Minecraft until I get word of the mod system.
So some of the Features like warp and /sethome may be disabled for a few days.

Lol nice. Yea clay is really rare. But when you find it it's in like massive amounts. Planning to build a big ass house with all the clay that was found. Hopefully mag gets the server up before the night is over so I can finish my underground animal farm. MUAHAHAH!

It won't be found in already rendered areas of the map. You have to find a new non rendered area of the map and make it render and then you will have it. Once the map is created, the blocks aren't added to the already created map, only new map. I'm sure if you started a brand new game in single player and dug down deep enough, they would be just as common as redstone :).

mikey i told you last night the zoom in capabilities and stuff of that program require pulling data from multiple files..... its why just sending a basic map.html file wont work cause then it cannt pull its info to render it on html

i suggest DLing the image and opening it with paint so you can zoom in and out of the image. most of you can recognize your minecraft skin and your buildings.

you can also open it in your browser and hold Ctrl + mouse wheel to zoom in an out

what i see is exactly what the screen shot is. the only difference is that when you hover your mouse over the player skins it shows health and name of character, you can zoom in an out (which you can do on paint if you DL the screen shot) and the program can change the setting of what the map is rendered to for example direction (this screen is from NE) day or night ect.

as for Damion he is there because we were looking for my house then as you see in the screenie there is a HUGE ass cave mouth so he decided to start a house there.

Ive have been been doing my research on Bukkit mod and it currently almost dont but seems there waiting on approval of creator of the game "Notch" about licensing issues and making sure its ok reverse engineering the minecraft code and having there program open source from what i take from it you can read more about it (HERE) (http://bukkit.org/)

the have development versions out but highly unstable so i will wait till something that is stable is out before i will implement it. So as of now we will just sit and wait and use it as a vanilla server (basic/no mods) for now. I will do some testing and become familiar with the bukkit mod on my home ran server for now. And will update everyone when we will offically move over to the new program.

As far as having a map render of our world on a website where you can zoom in and it constantly update its self. Im no where near ready for that level of advancement yet. But it would nice to eventually see it grow that far. Server only been up for maybe two weeks now and seen some great things being made by everyone. Hopeful things will become better and easier in the near future.

But please feel free to pm ideas and things you would like to see happen on the server and Ill try to do my best to find solutions your requests.

so i started 3d mario and realized that is would be nearly immpossible. in order to make him actually LIKE mario id have to start building him from bed rock.. he would be a little over 100 blocks high.

so INSTEAD of a 3d mario i decided to go down a different route. Mario themed water slide.

i have 1 mario done and plan on making some of the shrooms ? boxes power ups ect. and then start on the water slide which will be mario themed as you travel down the slide.

mag is working on it , apparently the server ppl fucked up or smthn and he is making them check into that.

the server was getting epicly laggy, and he restarted it , and when we all joined we got sent to a different server without our stuff, randomly scattered on a new land...
he is making them revert it as we speak...hopefully we wont loose our shit....

Once again, minecraft.net is more popular than the poor old server can keep up with, so we’re upgrading. I’m not quite sure how long it will take to get done as it’s mostly Tobias doing the work (thank you, sir!). We’ve got a huge amazon cloud server which we’re moving the main server to. We’ll be able to replicate this as demand grows, and we’ll have a load balancer set up in front of it all. Skin downloads will almost certainly be migrated to S3 downloads instead of going through resin as it does now, and we’ll have a separate server just to handle game logins and auth requests.

In other news, we spent the day today out of the office in various cafés, as the floor was getting fixed. And we got the Machinima.com IGA awards! They’re pretty!

If you want to see some pics from the office and Mojang in general, Carl has a photo album here. It gets updated every now and then.

For Minecraft development, we’re working on the new file format, and a new game launcher. The file format is still in early testing, but it’s looking somewhat promising, except for it taking up a bit too much space. It’s faster, though.
The new Launcher will be a bit prettier, will show release notes and other news, will send login requests over https (finally), and will ask if the user wants to update to the latest version or not. In the future, we’ll add support for playing the previous installed version (after warning the player that there might be unexpected bugs) and the ability to choose what work directly to save the level files, but that’s not coming in this version.

We’ve got a meeting planned for tomorrow with some community members to discuss how to best implement the modding.

This actually happened late last year and everyone was going crazy. The game community just keeps growing and growing so this might be a common occasion throughout minecraft until it is actually a done release.

I might make a combination lock that feeds 2 ways: 1 to a trap, 1 to the door. If you don't put the right combination, the trap is activated when you hit the switch and kills you. If you put the right combination, it lets you in! Genius! Project for the weekend xD!
