IBIS Admins List

so i was looking around the website an this idea came to me about wanting to see a master list of all the current IBIS admins.. so i messaged anex an asked him if there was one an he told me that no such list existed that he knew of. i think it would be a really cool addition to add to the website or wherever, for viewers to refer to an such. zero, (being the codemaster that he is :wtg: ) i think could pull this off really easily. i was thinking that the list could be somehow linked with the admins activations and their paypalls, so that when a payment is sent to zero and he activates the user, the players name would then appear on this list (alphabetically? lol) and it would be automatically removed once the users payment runs out. this way there isnt a constant need to manually add/remove names from the list every other day cuz thats just obnoxious. then i thought "oh what if some people on that list change their name like 5x a week?" so then i thought (if its possible? idk im no coder) to maybe try and somehow link the users name on that list to their steam profile/ID so that when the user makes a change in their name, their name on the list would follow suit.. soo monkey see monkey do i guess. :icon_mrgreen: also the ability to click any name on the list and be taken to their steam profile page would be really neat. an then another idea i had could be that we add one of those "this user is online/offline" green lights next to their name on the list as well... sorry if i make it sound really in depth and complex lol :banghead:

we have all of these admins that not everyone knows and is familiar with, i think this can be a great way for players and even admins to get to know those who manage/admin the IBIS servers..so... what do you all think? :icon_mrgreen:

what your suggesting offers 0 benefit and lots of work. so in other words is pointless. we don't need a list showing all the admins... there's literally no reason or point. zero knows who has an active admin sub and that's all we need. given the amount of work it would take 2 constantly update a changing active admin sub list so people can read it and go "oh that guys an admin on that server" is pretty pointless.

if you play on 1 or multiple of our servers youll figure out who the active admins are quite quick on those servers.... having a list so you can go "oh hey! that guys a admin on this IBIS server I don't play on" is well... pointless cause if you don't know who the active admins are on a server you clearly don't play on that server and needing that info is well... pointless.

Also in may you will sort of have this when the new admin system starts. For example I still plan to create an admin section of the forums for them to discuss hackers and other things that would be kept private in that section only.

actually...it shouldn't be too hard depending on how mani implements it. if it's done as a flag in a sql database, then we'd simply need a page that automatically crawls the sql thing and returns entries holding said flag.

of course. mani, being mani, probably uses a .txt stored on the server itself...

i agree maynard. To be particularly honest, its not important to know whos the admin on the other servers. theres no point. if you need to get something across to other admin post it on the forum because im gonna bet money we check that stuff every day.

Im not really a fan of this Idea. I really dont want a bunch of randoms PMing me. I mean sure I can go offline all the time like zero does, but then that means my friends cant contact me, and I do not want that either.

A list would really just make it difficult for current admins rather then help out others.
A tip for anyone who wants admins on their buddy list, make friends with them :wtg: And that way the people you PM play the servers you play in, and the admin is more willing to do something.

If some random asks me to come in due to XY disrespecting them, im not likely to help. However if someone I play with regularly is complaing about harrasment, I would very likely come on, see whats going on and mute.

I can't speak for the others. but I'm an incredibly blunt person, and that's not going 2 change now:smirk:. props on trying 2 come up with ideas and what not 2 better IBIS, nothing wrong with that:wtg: but when ya throw a ideas out there, people are going 2 yay or nay the idea, and if it's a nay, people aren't going 2 try and sugar coat it so you don't feel bad...

if people just said. no I don't like the idea, you're most likely are going 2 ask why they don't... so by people being open, we're really just saving time. + I don't think I was really coming down hard on you nor was any 1 else.

The fact that you are being proactive in helping and advancing this community is awesome. It already puts you a few steps ahead of everyone else but not always are all the ideas of an innovative thinker the best ones. For example this one, you being some one who wants to make the community better will eventually think of something none of the others have. =D

I'd personally love to see an admin list. That being said, there are several issues that would have to be addressed before one was implemented. And at the end of the day, I'm not sure that if those issues are addressed there would be much utility in having one.

Things like admin privacy, having a public list available for potential hackers, and various other concerns that have been raised in the thread say that the list would have to be available to admins only. And if that's the case- why have a list at all?

i have already talked to zero about this wayyyyyyyyyyy back, and it has been on his to do list when the admin system kicks in:
1- admin system will show hierarchy of admins.
2- possibly install a mod that will highlight in colors various forums groups like : OWNER, clan, admins, paid regs, noobs, sanctionned hackers/disrupters.
3- a private section for admins to discuss possible hackers without having to start a flame war with regs whenever someone is suspected.
All of this has been discussed with zero previously, and unless i am mistaken (please correct me ) then zero already has it on a to-do list but he is most likely busy with many other tasks at hand in order to give you the best gaming experience.
Right now, if you want a list of SOME admins, search on steam for the IBIS.A steam group that i created a while back, it has at least 70% of current admins and it will give you smthn to go by until zero finds the time to get to his tasks one by one :)
