steam released a free 2 play games section.... Cool! there is

-Forsaken World

-Global Agenda

-Champions Online

-Spiral Knights

-Alliance of Valiant armys

Keep in mind, some of these reviews are years old, things they complain about most likely don't exist or have been addressed over the years.

I'm gonna try forsaken world tonight.

don't play it without a friend, get's extremely boring after a couple of hours also the money system is somewhat confusing at first

soul coins are bound to you only YOU can use them

gold is a harder currency to get but you need to get some mounts, also some races you can get free mounts at certain levels combat, instances aren't that bad but it's what you get for what you pay which is nothing

Why isn't Alien Swarm in this section?..

Also, I remember when I was like < > that close to buying Global Agenda.

why the hell haven't they added a new campaign for Alien Swarm?

spiral knight is pretty cool, I actually don't mind playing that game, but the only down fall is that you need something like 2 - 4 people to play it with because some of the section/levels are hard

maynard
06-16-2011, 01:50 AM
yea, we hit some HARD fucking lvls this evening and we had a full team. can't imagine doing it on my own Lol

BladeTwinSwords

I actually played 3-4 levels on my own only dying once. The levels do get very hard very quick.

Some generous person should buy the party pack (not me) :smirk:
Some of the things in this game sort of bother me, 100 energy a day? really wtf. all they want is people to spend :/ Micro should never give people advantages like that.

Still quite fun.

maynard
06-17-2011, 12:58 AM
meh, persoanlly I find the game beyond repetitive... the lvls are all the same, the only diff is they become harder by adding more mobs 2 fight... I don't really care for it.

acolyte_to_jippity
06-17-2011, 06:56 AM
i think it kicks ass...but the energy system is slightly annoying. however it makes sense, and it acytually keeps the game from getting boring. small chunks and all that.

BladeTwinSwords
06-17-2011, 09:07 AM
The game essentially forces you to not play it all the time. However I have just started buying energy off of the market for in-game money.

maynard
06-17-2011, 12:58 PM
meh... every lvl is the same thing, the only thing diff is the amount of monsters... boring imo.

yeah forsaken world is crap. if you want a f2p mmorpg i can point you in one of two directions though, you can pm me if you're interested.

but as far as steam goes, bloodline champions can be pretty fun for a while, as can global agenda.

yes but it doesn't even compare 2 what you get if you pay. the only truly epic F2P game is LoL imo.

I installed Spiral Knights and have been playing it for a few weeks on and off. Heres a small review in case anyone else is interested:

If you liked any of the bomberman games, you'll love the PvP. It's team based or everyman for himself on a bomberman board :D
For a Free 2 Play game it's actually pretty good, It's kind of play to win, unless you're willing to play for a very long time and work extremely hard.
The gameplay is really simple but extremely fun. You don't even need the keyboard. When you enter a level (all of the levels randomly generated via "shards" you and other players pick up along the way), you are randomly matched with 1-3 other players and you continue on.

You get 80 energy a day. Progressive to another level takes 5 energy. Playing PvP takes 2 energy I believe. I'm half on and half off with games like this. It prevents me from getting addicted, but keeps the game as a decent time waster when I have just rage quit out of CS:S and have read everything on reddit.

TL:DR: Spiral Knights is a fun game, simple and easy. PVP is a blast. Sort of P2Win, but not extremely. Limited amount of playtime per day makes it a decent time waster.

I was going to suggest Fallen Earth (http://www.gamersfirst.com/fallenearth/) but I forgot they put themselves on GamersFirst. If it's not on Steam or not available as a direct download without having to be a member of another gamer network, I'm usually reluctant to get it. Still, Fallen Earth was fun when I played it and War Rock (http://www.gamersfirst.com/warrock/) looks decent.

Is it worth pre-ordering for early access?

maynard
11-09-2011, 04:22 PM
meh... early access is normally like 24-48 hours early. if you're gonna get the game for sure, I guess you might as well pre order.

Link
11-09-2011, 06:21 PM
if you pre-order now, chances are you'll only get a little bit of early access.

for those of us who pre-ordered immediately, it'll be 5 days prior to release.

maynard
11-09-2011, 06:27 PM
if you pre order now you'll get the same amount of early access time as every 1 else.

actually that's incorrect.

When does Early Game Access begin?

Early Game Access may be up to five days prior to the official release of Star Wars: The Old Republic. The length of your Early Game Access period will vary depending on the date and order in which you redeemed your Pre-Order code, as well as where you live and your Internet service.

So if you pre-order now, several months after pre-orders started, you will receive less early access time.

Granted, it probably won't be a very large difference (days), but it's still an incentive to have placed your order and redeemed your code sooner rather than later.

I'm so excited for this game.

plus, i just saw DCU Online went f2p..not surprised. lol

Anyone on here been playing APB recently? I got my criminal character to Rank 195 Gold (They changed the rank system so there is no more "Max Threat") and I'm about half way done with my enforcer. I need some good people to play with, I'm receiving less "Turn off the hacks" messages. They changed a few minor things after the "official release", but nothing that noticeable. Also most of the items shown in the screenshots on steam are still not available in game :icon_confused:

Overall it's still a decent game for being f2p, I can honestly say it beats the hell out of MW2.

I don't think the odds are high for any of us playing SWTOR in playing something else, unless it's during maintenance hours.
