View Full Version : Military desert combat boots
Hey, I was wondering if anyone has pictures of the military boots that are used at this moment in the desert. I'm sure some of you have a pair.
Like, I'm probably gonna need brand, name, picture or anything like that. and wether it is possible to get a pair in the first place.
Also I have no clue whether desert combat boots differ from country to country. But I'm talking about the U.S. military boots.
And like, my birthday is coming up and I want to see if I can get a pair by then.
thanks in advance if you have any intel on this.
Rob.

The ones that are issued are ugly, most people buy there own which you can do to. You are looking at spending over 100$ though, as for a picture just google USA Combat Boots.
Your bnest bet is you check out any army surplus store or website.

As mikey said, google them and they are pretty much all the same besides some leather design and breathers. All tan, high top and fugly.

issued high tops suck....
I bought a pair from Bates and a pair from Blackhawk. The Bates Desert Tac Sport wore out within a few weeks from basic wear and tear. The Blackhawk boots are still going tough, though they have a vibram sole. Both companies sell boots in desert tan that meets US Army regulations and NAVSPEC.
i wear these

don't ask which one is better. Each person has their own preference. Some like the issued ones. I don't because I have small ankles and they roll when I run in them (issued boots are designed not with small feet in mind).

well, i looked for one that were fitted around the ankle because the issued boots are only molded form for the foot, but not up to the ankle and shins. Some people don't like boots that only mold to the foot and want to keep it sturdy above the ankle and shins. IMO they are comfortable and I can run all day in them. I even wear them off duty. The Converse ones at the QM website aren't bad either. Seen a few get those. You want a boot that fits to your feet and makes it comfortable for you to wear 8+ hours while doing a whole lotta shit. lol.

hahaha those are the issued boots. I hate them. They are cheap for a reason. Also, they need to be broken in. When you first get them, they are not your average boot. The heel has to hit on the rubber and you have to break it in gradually. Breaking them in in the shower is what I used to do. Maybe the guys can answer better because the tan desert combat boots were never made in mind for the females. They say the old black combat boots were better suited for the females than what they have out now only because they had to rush the production. It was just a few years they finally made Verbattim soles that were approved for the jump schools too.

To be honest the boot doesn't really matter. The sole is what mattetrs the most. If you are going to spend hours on your feet standing around something like a Vibram sole , or "Gator Teeth" ( not sure of the real name but it looks like a row of pointy teeh that angle towards the heal) The upper of the boot is what you think works best. Unless in Loka's case where her small feet make it an odd situation. The sole beingh the part that strikes the ground millions of times is what you need to pay attention to.
One last thing. If these are going to be used for hiking/work?....the first night you get them, put them on your feet and soak them with water. Wear them for a few hours, then allow them to dry. This may cause blisters but they will be small. By allowing the leather to adjust to your foot it should stop severe blistering at a later point. I have learned this over the past decade to work the best. Understand if you are not going to hike or be extremely active in the boot it is not needed.

In all honesty, I don't really get them for anything specific. I just want them. LOL.
