i recommend a D-LINK pci network card paired with a wireless relay/booster. basically you setup your router then you setup the relay at a good broadcasting place in your house or wherever so that you bounce the signal from your router to it and maximize the range of your wifi. could also be that you have a shitload of traffic on your network.

To play games at large distances the best thing to do is: 100ft cat7 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100010070+600026274+600026304+600026276&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=132&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc=) that will give you virtually no latency increase at 1000mbs with the lowest risk of cross talk.

If you need to go further I would still recommend cat 7 but you may need to drop down to cat 6 to save money. Here you can get 1000ft cat 6 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100010070+600026274+600026303+600026277&QksAutoSuggestion=&ShowDeactivatedMark=False&Configurator=&IsNodeId=1&Subcategory=132&description=&hisInDesc=&Ntk=&CFG=&SpeTabStoreType=&AdvancedSearch=1&srchInDesc=) although you will need to put the ends on. Cat5 could also work as I have run a 1000ft cat5 from the basement to the garage to the room above the garage then around that room to the closet and then to the attic and then across the attic to my closet then around that room to the computer. It worked great until the tape that held the wire up in the garage fell off and the it got caught in the chain when the garage door opened and ripped a wall off...

There may be another wireless alternative that will work at great cost. You setup a high gain directional point to point network:

Then use this for the antennas on your router and the card above:
http://www.radiolabs.com/products/antennas/2.4gig/backfire.php

And or use this router and equipment to gain about 1mile range in combination with proper antennas.

If you are on the same circit as the router you can rout the internet through you power cables in your house
Its called power wire or something like that. Its fairly decent

I mean the cheapest solution would be to run a cat5 cable out there it would be cheaper than the cat 6 would give you low latency but do not expect a lot of bandwith. If the connection is for internet only you could get away with cat5 if <500ft.

If you can play just fine on other servers, then your WiFi connection likely isn't the problem.

If the above options are too expensive you should talke a look at the Alfa high gain long range adapter ( http://bit.ly/rmrAtY). I've got one and I'm 300' away from the wifi at my apartments and I get 100mbps and five bars.
