View Full Version : crappy apartment management

Anyone who's ever had a crappy landlord, an asshole landlord, or an apartment management company that made their lives a living hell will enjoy this
http://enclavesucks.com
When a management company is ignoring health concerns and treating people like shit, you can complain all you want but a lot of the times the government won't even listen. So what do you do? You get fellow residents together and embarrass the hell out of them, driving their market rent down.
I don't live here. I own, but it's in the same city I live in here in Maryland. I thought the site was hilarious.

I hate Silverspring, almost as much as D.C. If D.C and Bethesda got together and had a baby, it would be the little whore of a place Silverspring.
Also, funny story's, that is some BS though, at least mine gets shit done within 2 weeks... not too much better... lol.

yea. I'm in white oak. The tiny little strip mall by my place has Peruvian, Salvadorian, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Carribean, and some other stuff. All within walking distance.
It's food heaven.

Exactly, and nothing else to do. If you want to go see a show you gotta get your butt into a car and drive 5 hours up the ungodly 95 traffic just to go 15-20 miles into DC.
I think the closest place for live music around there is JAXX? Actually I think Helmet was there not too long ago.

The fuck you talking about? We have rams head, we have the Verizon center pretty damn closs, we have the big AMC 21 I think it was.
Also we have the jumps if you do alot of dirt biking

Prince William? Verizon Center? What?
Oh you mean that place that's in the MIDDLE of dc, a 10 minute metro ride from silver spring and a 23536364 hour car ride from Prince William? :P
Where the heck is the closest Rams Head to Prince William? The two I know of are in a different state, Maryland.
I'll give you one thing, though. If you're into outdoor stuff, then Prince William probably has better places for things like dirtbiking, kyacking
My fav part of silver spring is the AFI. All summer long, 80's movies on the most amazing theater, a place that lets you buy wine and beer inside... GOOD beer.

They just finished the Filmore right across the street too. I wanted to see Bush there the other day but I was too friggin' tired. They got some metal bands coming up in the next couple of months too.

Half an hour, who the fuck cares?
Parking in DC on the other hand, but we can just stop at Springfield

Yea. There's a place in Springfield called JAXX, though, I was talking about. Check it out. Some big bands come though there.
Sorry. Trying not to knock too much on Prince William/Woodbridge (I lived there for 3 month). I just hear a lot of people talk crap about Silver Spring when there is so much to do here.
Tons of culture, some of the best food from every corner of the world, big music venues, one of the best theaters of the world, tons of bars. The best bars here are dives (See Quary House). If you can't have fun here, then you have problems :P
Sure you have a lame little soccer-mom style city walk with whiney emo kids running around, but *ALL* the cities in the DC area have that kinda shit. If you like live music, are a film or food buff, this is a great place to be. You don't even need a car to get around, even if you want to hit up places in DC.
I don't see what problem people have with DC either. People are a little uptight but that's any city. DC has probably more culture than any other city all closely packed together. You can walk about 2 blocks and pass about 20 bars all with different themes and restaurants with food from half the countries on the planet. TONS of great music. If you like Jazz, we've got it. If you like Rock, Hip Hop, Metal, etc, the 930 club is always rated the #1 venue by all the critics. The Black Cat is great too. We have probably the best public transit of any city I've been in that rivals NYC and is a FAR cry cleaner than new york. The museums are are great. If you're into history you CAN'T beat the Smithsonian museums, and you don't have to pay or wait in line for HOURS like you do in NYC. Want to see Picassos? DaVincis? Pollocks? Warhols? We got 'em.

That's like the one spot I've never been to :)
I like the hispanic place there, Pansa Llena. They're salvadorians I think but boast "peruvian chicken" which is pretty good there. They finally built themselves a nice little bar in there.
Dude, did you know there's a bowling alley in there too? It's duck pin I believe. It's a tiny entrance that you don't even notice. You walk down some stairs and its there, below everything.

We should all meet up at a show at 930/filmore/black cat or something :)
If you're into electronic music (Dubstep, house, etc) then U STREET MUSIC HALL is the place to be now. It's nothing like the old days of BUZZ but it's a pretty good size, not hard to get a drink, and they get some great music in there: www.ustreetmusichall.com

DC is too expensive. Uptight is saying it lightly, I've never seen so many uptight pricks packed in one city. I've seen just as much "culture" around Baltimore.
The museums are fucking win. Free zoo is well... free... besides parking (at least they have parking for you).
Public transit is great, then again, I am from Baltimore which makes it not seem much of an improvement to me.
AFI is win.
Was about to say some shit about PWC, then remembered I was thinking of PGC.
30 mins... what you smoking.. it takes 15-45 alone just to get out of DC depending on traffic.
Today I sat 4 hours alone in traffic going from DC to Sterling to Baltimore... Shit gets old fast. Alternate routes don't really help much more, that shit backs up just as good.

DC is too expensive.
Can't argue with you there. But there are much higher paying jobs here to make up for it
Uptight is saying it lightly,
I'd put it about average on the up-tight o meter. Uptight compared to Philly and Bmore? Yes? ABout as on par as NEW YORK. *NOTHING* Compared to LA or San Fran. Whew. Talk about up right.
I've seen just as much "culture" around Baltimore.
I''d argue with you there again. I'm talking diversity in music, language, the arts, food, etc. I';d say DC wins, but I can't argue with Bmore having culture. Bmore has some uptight pricks as well. DC has the "OMG I work for the government I made so much money" uptight pricks. But if you're talking blatant stereotypical HIPSTER uptight like "OMG you're such a sell out because more than 5 people bought your CD and you're so mainstream because you don't dumpster dive for your clothes and you don't have a porn star mustache" upright, Baltimore takes the cake :) You know what I'm talkin' bout.
AFI is win. The Charles is nice, but yea, nothing beats the AFI Silver
30 mins... what you smoking.. it takes 15-45 alone just to get out of DC depending on traffic.
Amen to that., as far as living in Price William. But Silver spring, you just hop on the metro and you're at Chinatown in 10 minutes.
I lived in Woodlawn for a while earlier last decade. Balimore never had much traffic. Then I moved to LA for three years and came back to the area in 2006 and HOLY SHIT. WHERE THE HELL did all the traffic in Baltimore come from?
Silver Spring is great. But if you're going to knock it then you have to totally knock Towson. Silver Spring is to DC as Towson is to Baltimore. Rich suburb on the edge of the city with spoiled kids that have to find some sort of subculture to make them feel "special" because they don't know how to just be individuals. In SS it's the emo's and kanye wannabes. In Towson, it's the impostifarians. You know it. You see those 16 year old kids rolling up to the Recher with their overnight dreadlocks they just made with some beezwax the day before and their corduroy jeans :P The only reason those kids go see bands like the Jazz Mandolin Project or the Kelly Bell band there is because they know its where to find the DANK!

I've never been to Boston, though I'd love to.
DC is pretty easy to navigate aside from the traffic. I love the number/letter combos. So easy to find your way around.
Driving in DC is like, well, not driving. You're just parked.
Driving in Baltimore is like being in a drunken demolition derby. OMG trying to navigate Lombard on Thursday night, you better wear a helmet and make sure you have health insurance.
I have yet to find a restaurant in DC anywhere near as COOL as the Paper Moon up near Hopkins though.

HAHA!, yep, know exactly what your talking about.
Medical and Education (go figure) services have expanded almost ten-fold in the last 10 years. Higher and more lucrative business firms, mostly law related, along with all the medical staffing downtown tends to drawn in more traffic from all surrounding county's. Traffic has at least tripled in the Baltimore area's since I remember it.
Diversity is more jampacked in DC, just not all that much more than I have seen living in and around Baltimore. Just have to walk a bit more.
Working in DC and living out = decent extra money.
Working in and living in DC = broke. You get the jist of what I'm saying.
I have yet to see another place where a fucking coffee boy makes 19$ an hour, gets full medical, and is paid double time on mandatory Saturdays, but must work them. WTF. This is in a law firm of coarse. The shit I hear and do and see is un-fucking-believable.
Edit: I can easily navigate DC. So easy, much more so than Baltimore, which I have lived most my life.
Driving in DC is a hell of a lot worse than Baltimore as far as collision concern goes. True though.. at night it seems like all the fucking idiots come out in Bmore, in DC it's just like a damn ghost town.
elpolloloco

DC is a ghost town at night... unless a Caps game got out :P Although most nights if you're looking for a crowd, you'll usually find it in Adams morgan.
I don't know what's more annoying. The artsy hipster uptight assholes on in MT VERNON in Baltimore that won't talk to you unless you're doing something "avant garde" with your facial hair. You should see the looks I got at a party there once when they were grilling veggies and I wanted to put this sausage on there. You'd think I just shot a baby in the face.
Or the bratty (here comes the racism) persian kids that run around Adams morgan in DC s with the word "ARMANI" in THE BIGGEST FUCKING FONT POSSIBLE on their hats, glasses, shirts, pants, shoes, watches, etc listening to the WORST FUCKING EUROTRANCE MUSIC BLASTING out the BMW's their daddies bought them.
Two different but equal uptight kinds. If you live in the area, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Whenever the president cant go he gives his tickets to a worker at the white house.

I'd rather have box seats to a Caps game. Man, so sit there in a luxury box, sipping on some whiskey while watching the game, far away from the sweaty masses. I'd love to do that just once. Apparently you can get one of those boxes for a game for $2500. It sounds expensive, but it seats 20 people. So if you can get 20 people together, it's only 125 bucks a person. Seeing as how even the nosebleeds for a caps game are like 70 bucks now, that's not bad.
