Another thought is a superhero server. They run a LOT like wcs servers, but instead you get superpowers. they were my go-to servers when i FIRST started playing css. The power stunts could be a cool little addition and with things like shadowcat (temp no-clip) and nightcrawler, you could have yourself one badass server.

i still think a classic gg server would be a sure thing. and for those of you who dont know what a classic gg is well here you go, a classic gg is the like the opposite of turbo, you start with your gun but when you get your gun kill you do not get your next gun until next round but.. you can skip levels but you have to pull out your knife and get a knife kill. as many knife kills you get is as many levels you skip. and every gun kill plus 2 knife kills or just 3 knife kills you get turbo speed for about 10 secs or so. so you can get turbo speed twice in a round. In this type of gungame there is alot more knifing going on than in a turbo gg.

we really need 2 get it on the go though as all we're doing is spending money on a pointless server... we could be upping our traffic, income and community base if it was a server that people played on and cared about... VIP is dead... sad but true.

awp doesn't matter in DM as you spawn randomly all over the map... so it's basically impossible 2 camp/holdup and snipe with it.

While it's assuring to know the spawns will be random throughout the map, coming into any server that's purely awps or paras would be a bummer =\, but I suppose that's when player proficiency will come into play in flanking players / overwhelming them with close range combat :club:. Regardless, seeing how it's played is something to worry about AFTER it's put up and active so won't worry bout it :icon_mrgreen:

I don't really see a DM/GG or Elim/DM/GG destroying the original GG server much.

Sure, some regulars may migrate towards the new server, but more will fill their place, and almost EVERY GG server out there is DM. There are only a select few (GOOD) GG servers out there that are running Reverse GG with no respawn. That's the unique thing about IBIS, and that's why I believe many people continue to migrate to this community. I think I can count the amount of servers running regular GG on one hand.

That being said, DM/GG is terrible, and it's the route that shitty smutclan community went with years ago, as well as others. Are they even still around? Haha! I remember that fiasco...

Anyway, if the Boss says that's what it's gonna be, then that's what it's gonna be!

A 100-kill cap (30 minute map timer, whoever has the most kills at the end of the map wins) would be a good incentive to keep things competitive as well. With a ranking system similar to that of GG.

The reason it takes so long is b/c I have not had time to program the races. This is largely due to work and now me losing all of the code.

I will say that the longest part of race development is actually the effects. There is very little documentation on making complex and cool effects in SM. Also trying to make old race effects appear the same on the new code is very difficult. In addition I must also test to ensure these effects to not create crashing or too much lag on client systems. What really sucks is the loss of the dragonfly code. Some of the effects for the flying effect took over a month to develop.

I will admit that what could really speed up development is if people developed working and optimal code for all the various effects of all the unfinished races however that is no longer the issue as those races do not have effect methods much different from those previously developed. I would have been able to finish almost all the races by the summer except now I lost all the code for the old ones. I think that what I may try to do is a stacked development where we can start to roll out new releases of the old races and new races at the same time on the test server so that while one race is being tested I can be programing another one. This should speed up development once I have time to actually program.

I understand where you're coming from, and it is shitty how everything got jewed. I just feel like the server would prosper more if, in the mean time, we threw a bunch of races on. This would give us a trial by fire to find bugs and balance issues but it would also solve a lot of problems as well. Also it would give you the time needed to work on the races that are taking you forever to finish, not that it's your fault, just that they're a bitch to work on.

There are enough tried and tested races out there that it shouldn't be too hard to do, and your more complex races will fit in better once you finish them

I agree with you, but then why do we still have Assassin Mod up? Don't get me wrong, I enjoy once in a blue moon get togethers where theres like 2 hours of just joking around play with other clan/admins, but unless ZERO has some kind of buy 3 get the 4th free on servers, we're wasting resources keeping it online? Granted maybe not that much, but as traffic is down (recent award given: Most time on server = 2hr 57min), why not take it down for a bit?

Depending on how much is being lost (cost for serverspace/datatransfer/coding or monitoring fees/etc), It'd be nice to see those resources being used into promoting better play in ANY of the other servers rather than keeping it up (this is not to say things aren't being changed, most noticeably the work on WCS and the races which we appreciate :wtg:). Use it or lose it IMO
