I was gifted this book for xmas and got to page 230 today. Freaking amazing book; so vivid it's like you're in it and dealing with the zombies yourself. Has anyone else read it? I highly recommend it, if not.
I know a movie for this book is currently in the works. I'm hoping it's at least just as good as the book.
I believe I mentioned this in the zombie thread somewhere. They're also working on the film as we speak. Can't wait.

Don't get your hopes up, it's only slated to be rated PG-13 and from what I hear isn't going to follow the book all that closely.
The rating really doesn't mean much anymore, as the violence of a zombie apocalypse will still be prevalent. As for it following the book, Max Brooks stated that he didn't want to write the screenplay because he doesn't deem himself "experienced" enough to write a screenplay. I read in an article (I believe on IGN) that Brooks is, however, still closely involved.
One thing to note as well, Brad Pitt's production company has some really huge movies under its belt, so I'll hold my breath for an epic film or at most a trilogy.
The concept in itself has so much room for expansion, but if the filmmakers decide on not doing the Battle of Yonkers, I sure hope they replace it with a fine equivalent. I will shit my pants twice if they do.
