@jwtemp

Not sure how this really brings in hope... the games issues were hardly the AH.... it was inferno mode, drop rates etc....

Also very surprised 2 see blizzard walking away from free money.... that's not like them lol.

Sorry, I always completely forget there are threads for these things.

Yes, the AH was only part of the problem, but removing the AH entirely necessitates that they change exactly what you're talking about, hence 'Loot 2.0' as they've already discussed. With the removal of the AHs, the nail is in the coffin for the 'pay to play' model Diablo 3 was adhering to previously and will now be once again 'kill monsters and get phat loot,' AKA exactly what kept Diablo 2 players playing ten years later.

By they way, they added PVP in a patch several months ago. :) Although I never played it as I pretty much quit after it was clear the current state of Diablo III was nothing more than a stupid lottery system.

I guess I'm just really excited to see Blizzard hasn't completely succumbed to Activision and there's still at least a glimmer of the former magnificence that was the former Blizzard that remains.

Wait so now all the time I spent getting items with max gold find are useless and I got to now switch to magic find items!?

I went back and re-read this thread from the beginning because I can't stop being excited about these impending changes. It's funny to look back actually and watch everyone's excitement start building in January 2012, with everyone saying they can't wait to get their hands on the game. Then the game drops, server issues abound and there's some complaining and raging, which is to be expected. Then everyone really gets into the meat of the game, gets through the semi-difficult Hell mode that shipped with the game, hits Inferno...

Annnnnnd that's it. Around the end of May 2012, this thread dies. No one talks about the game basically at all after hitting the bullshit brick wall that was the original implementation of Inferno.

It's interesting to me that you all shared exactly the same experience as I did when playing this game. Bloody fucking fun until you reach the end game, then you realize you're doing nothing more than playing an auction house simulator with occasional resource collection (AKA farming act three Halls of Agony) for the purposes of maybe getting an up once every fifteenth play session, and only EVER from the Auction House. I loved my wizard, some of the builds were just unbelievably fun to play, but the rewarding aspect of Diablo was completely removed by the greedy cash grab that was the AH, which caused the game design to wrap itself around a hollow concept and completely fail.

Fuck the AH. Fuck the RMAH. Fuck Blizzard's original design philosophy with this game. I am as excited about the removal of the AH and the RMAH and for Reaper of Souls as I was for D3, and by golly, you best not fuck this up Blizz.

As for your gold finding gear ZERO, I like to think of March 18th 2014 as the day Diablo 3 is actually going to come out. I look forward to a 'reset to zero' personally. :)

If by 'fixed' you mean 'nerfed' I agree. But nerfing Inferno to make it easier to complete and not fixing/ignoring the problems with the end game was a complete waste of time imo. We'll see if these changes bring D3 to what it should have been in May 2012, AKA a sequel to D2.

inferno is only easy 2 complete if you set it 2 a monster power level that's low. You choose how hard it is.... obviously though the harder you go the better the drops.

might check it out on console... everything I'm reading online basically says the console version shit kicks the PC version.

Console version is definitely better at the moment but it's because the console version basically already includes Loot 2.0, giving a reason to pursue end game. Various other balance mechanisms were put in place as well. It's crazy how effectively they mapped the controls to a controller, the UI is very, very well done. I was reading an article that was saying the loot system is broken, and that's OK! He found a 1,200 DPS staff at level fifty five on his Monk in the console version (my paragon seventeen wiz's weap is only 1187 but it's a 1h). LOL He was basically one shotting bosses. Side note, I don't believe there's any MP in the console version but I'd have to check to verify. Here's the article if you're interested.

I was getting ready to pick up the console version before they announced these potential fixes to the PC version. Now I'm waiting until March 18th. I'm really confident after everything I've seen and read they're taking this very seriously and know exactly where they fucked up and how to fix it. Can't wait to log in and see no AH.

Nice! I'll be interested to hear your impressions after you put in some time. I'm curious as to what features made it into the console release and which were axed (and vice versa).

well I haven't played the PC version in about 8 months... so not 100% sure which features were swapped or moved around etc....

all I know is I'm enjoying playing it on the console more than I ever did on PC.... it actually feels like diablo on console... and the controls are fucking amazing.... they did such a good job at re doing the controls for a controller... blown away.... oh, and loot 2.0 beyond kicks ass.

Man, this make me happy in pants to a degree I can't even explain. I'm looking forward to Reaper of Souls like a fat kid looks forward to ice cream. Can't wait!

They are likely using the console version as a test platform for the changes they plan for the pc next spring. Pretty smart, I wonder if they will add any pc controller support so that you can use it on a tv computer better?

They better make controllers work for pc... Cause it shit kicks the mouse and keyboard

Feels just like Baldur's Gate. I still prefer the mouse and keyboard though. I suppose we'll see if a patch adds support for it in the future. Somehow I doubt it...

Did you finish the game yet?

your like the first person I met who wasn't like "wow, the controller play blows the mouse/keyboard play out of the fucking water"

and I have a 60 Barb, rocking 380k dps and working on a demon hunter now.... I've been seriously addicted 2 this game lol.

I really like the way the game plays with the controller but there's no denying that inventory management, skill assignment and overall navigation of an interface suffer compared to the mouse+keyboard. They streamlined the shit out of it, it's literally the BEST interface I've ever seen for a game of this type but it still isn't as good as the PC version. But I'm a bit of a m+k kind of guy in general so I'm sure that plays into it.

LOL!!!! 380k DPS!!!! I think I topped out at 200k with my paragon seventeen wizard who had approximately fifty million gold's worth of AH equipment (before the duping completely ruined the economy, that is). Is the paragon system even in the console version? How hard is Inferno?

You seriously have NO IDEA how fucking excited I am that they're going to be putting this shit in the PC version! I'd be playing the console version with you right now if I didn't know the PC version was getting fixed early next year.

maynard

fuck that. It's 10 times better. no more playing tetris with your inventory, just each item taking one of the 60 slots, the arrows up and down system so you can tell uber fast if gear is better, the ability 2 switch through your new picked up items and equip without being in the inventory screen. Nothing is good about D3... it's a pile of shit and has been since release. When and if they take the console version and through it on PC, THEN and only then will the PC version be worth playing.

Also loot 2.0 is the greatest thing since sliced bread lol....

Ya... my barb is kinda crazy.... he makes me happy =)

Yes there is paragon in the console verison, and paragon apparently is account bound... so if you have 30 paragon, and make a new character, it will automatically have 30 paragon.

Inferno has master level 1 through 5, haven't honestly played it yet. Once I hit 60 I basically started my demon hunter. Will check out inferno in the next few days and let ya know.

Even when they give the PC version all this good shit... I'll probably stick with the console version just cause I have so many horrid memories of D3 on PC... console version is like a nice fresh new and better start for me.... don't have 2 think about "error 3008" and all the other bullshit that has gone down since it came out lol.

Just go buy it on console and come have some fun ^^

Have you actually played it? or only seen footage?

I played through the demo. It definitely has several advantages over its PC counterpart but the loot and lack of an AH are definitely the most significant and game changing from everything I've read. It's all about itemization - totally broken in the PC version, fixed in the console version and soon to be fixed on PC. I actually like Tetris inventory management so we're just going to have to agree to disagree on that one. :)

I can understand sticking to the console version for sure. I'm not going to be picking it up personally, but don't get me wrong - if I didn't have 200 hours in D3 and the PC version wasn't slated for the fixes in March, I'd be all over it.

I'll let you know how Reaper of Souls is though when I'm playing it this spring. :icon_mrgreen:

I like the original style with the normal inventory screen and all... but not for console, what they did for console is great for it... not sure if they will change that for the pc version or not. seems if they make the PC version have loot 2.0 and run difficulty wise the same as the console version, the game it's self would be soooo much better. Yeah got the hundreds of hours in D3... kinda enjoying starting with a clean slate... that and vegging out on the couch with a controller only playing D3 is pretty boss lol.

I'll prob buy the expansion for PC and check it out just so I know what's going on but will still probably focus on the console version.
