Now is a a problem for most people if not all. Ive been seeing it done more and more on the GG and Pub servers. Ok I understand that everyone wants to get kills and win to bring up their rank, but if you are baiting someone you are just as guilty as Team Killing him/her. It annoys the crap out of people, and thus the reason why a lot of fights break out in the servers over this.

I propose that we make Baiting illegal with a 1 day ban for first time offense, 1 week ban for a second time offense and a Perma ban for a 3rd offense.

Good idea!

Good idea for a new rule but a permanent ban after 3 times seems a little extreme.

hmm thats y i never really like rank, made lots of ppl stat whores.
just wondering how one would prove it though, since sometimes legitimately "baiters" dont wanna run out w/ some idiot charging blindly or theyre legitimately reloading(sometimes the skins mess up so teammates dont see it or something).

Could you please describe some different scenarios of when some one is and is not baiting.

This is a stupid idea. Baiting is part of the game. If the guy your baiting is stupid enough to fall for it than that just makes you the better player. Baiting takes skill and is part of the game. It would be the same as TOTALLY getting rid of the AWP. I would also like to hear these situations though.

If we made this a rule then Dual would be banned. LoL

i thought he was talking about letting players kill one another.

hmm i guess an obvious case of baiting would be you got a teammate behind a guy while hes killing you and instead of shooting him your teammate takes out a knife and just charges (the baiting part would be that instead of just stalking the guy the whole map, your teammate saw an opportunity to knife and decides to just let you die)

Do you know what baiting is? I don't see how it takes skill.

I know what baiting is. It does take skill, you might not be doing it right, but for pub it is a tactic that can be used to gain an advantage in score. You never use it for scrims or anything important. But in a pub its cool to do, i do it if i get the chance.

Well, I guess I'm not doing it right since I don't try to do it. It may be a pub but your goal remains the same win the round and baiting doesn't help your team win.

Since when did people start playing for a team win? I know most of the regulars play for rank and enjoyment. I usually just play for enjoyment, and its fun getting a knife wile the guy isnt flashed or reloading, its even worth someone else getting killed in the process.

Yeah baiting is lame but we've all done it at some point. I certainly have, if i know a good awper's down a hallway I'm gonna warn and if someone's dumb enough to step out there's no sense in me not taking advantage of that.

no you can't make baiting illegal... its too hard to prove beyond personal odd ball experiences. ya its stupid... but camping is a lot larger problem than baiting. neither will carry a specific section in the rules.

That is why i asked for examples of when some one is ans is not doing it. If you can not even show the difference in theory between theoretical scenarios than it is impossible to enforce and will never be made a rule.

IMO, baiting is part of the game.. like MBP said... you're not gonna do that shit in a scrim/match because they'll replace your ass sooner than later.

However, for a pub... I can't see how it should be a punishable offense.
Example: Picture a CT with an AWP on Dust2. The CT is by the double doors in middle, towards Bomb site B (in an area he can snipe catwalk and listen to footsteps in the tunnels).

Picture this, 2 terrorists - ME and Man bear pig. Going by something as easy as sound, or radar. I can normally tell where people on my team are dying, or just by common sense, i'll know where an enemy Awper may be positioned.

If me and MBP are both running through double doors to go either thru CT spawn or to Bomb Site B. You can bet your ass I will let him go first and take the bullet, or atleast make the awper miss. It is at that time i will pop out.

Baiting? Yes.
Punishiable offense? Don't think so... more often than not, i'll let an idiot teamatte of mine run first... It's more fun that way =)

bad idea man, how are you so sure that someone isn't just stupidly rushing and someone with more experience merely takes advantage of the situation and gets the kill?

How and who would determine what is and what is not a bait? How would a 3rd party observer be able to verifiably tell if an action was or was not a bait?

This is a BAD BAD BAD idea.

It'll create more problems than it'll solve.

Im going to lock this because i think we have deduced that its a pointless consideration.
