A sheeple epidemic.
well said. my god-loving friends on facebook all had posts regarding this, and the more skeptical of us were too busy looking into invisible children's questionable fiscal policy.

The goal is a valid one with the exception of its desired target area. America has been aware of the genocide in the Darfur for over a decade. We have no interest in joining in the fight. The UN is the policing effort in that area and they have dropped the ball. Much in the same way we have let France handle the unrest in Syria, we have agreed to stay out of central Africa. The acts that go on there are some of the worst the world has ever seen, and untill someone acctually gathers an army and fights the LRA, it will continue. At the same time people think that the death/imprissionment of Kony will stop the LRA and they are fucked up in the head for thinking that. America's Armed forces could stop the fight in a matter of weeks, but during an election year there is no chance of that happening.

Like, your God loving friends defending the LRA?

I just don't get it. The following is taken from a real life conversion I had with somebody at multiple times throughout the week.
It's haunting how people get sucked into things like this. In this specific example a person was saying that the government should not be intruding other countries to fight wars we have no business fighting, later that week they are talking about Uganda and kony. They thought it was a great idea to intrude uganda and kill the lra with American military forces. What they failed to understand was that if we where to do that, we wouldn't just be fighting bad guys... We would be fighting children. I explained that to them as they ranted on about how child killing is a heinous act against humanity and how invading countries is wrong. They also failed to understand that Uganda is equally to blame for horrendous acts against humans but for some reason they become blinded by a video a guy made and an action to be taken in April. The day this invisible guy choose is pretty hilarious to. 4/20, nation smoke weed er day, day. How does protesting with a bunch of stoned college students make your cause any more legitimate?
It's dumb, granted what's going on is bad and there should be an end to it. It would make more since for the us to help the starving, sex slaved, murdered and beaten kids here in America first.....

Honestly i find this whole thing disgusting. Both the atrocities committed and the public's reaction. This has been going on for well over a decade, and it wasn't really that much of a secret, then overnight it explodes with thousands of people with no previous care about it are all of a sudden transformed into human rights activists. I would be fine with that if there wasn't a 90% chance that general people talking about doing something is just a fad. A month or two and the sad truth is this will more then likely be forgotten.
But hey, to those brave people who are trying to do something I fully support them.

Kony is nothing more than a bandwagon for ignorant people who like 2 pretend their important and doing good things for the world, by sitting on their PC's and spamming KONY everywhere... even though this issue has been going on for fuicking ever... and 99% of people didn't even know about it till some asshole made a youtube vid a few days ago.
The Uganda Gov has been squashing the rebels regularly since 2004...
any one who goes around saying support Kony or KONY 2012! is a fucking jerk-off.

Rofl. Yup. Who cares, really. People need something to make thmeselves feel like a contribution to society, so they post on fb and chant a few chants and then its on to the next big cause.
So, i just said exactly what maynard saidin not so many words..oh well..its true.
On a different note...the pokeman meme that came of it is pretty funny. I always enjoy a good meme of a serious situation.

I don't understand why this makes people upset, power is in numbers, and even if only a third of those people really cared it still makes a statement. I honestly didn't know much about this issue or who Kony even was, but now that I do I am appalled. I'm glad some thing is being done.
I think we are all capable of changing the world just not alone.

It's not even about kony, he deserves justice. It's about the organization behind kony 2012, there scam artists at the end of the day. 30 to a dollar is what is actually used for the cause... And even then where is that 30 cents going.. they want military intervention so a safe bet would be lobbyist.
Anyways, I havnt seen this many people interested in what's going on in Africa since Mufasa died.

seems like people have a choice.
support machete wielding nutters or another group of machete wielding nutters
so under foreign policy logic, send the troops in.
why is this even an issue, if uganda wants a better society they need to fight for it themselves

God forbid I sound like an isolationist but why don't we fix the problems we have at home instead of trying to play the role of Superman and save everyone else while our own house is on fire.
