I'm sure the idea has been brought up before but user Lieut. Hooters had a good idea about making two servers -- one running escape maps and one running cade maps in order to reduce the likelihood of server crashes. Any thoughts, inputs, etc. to follow up?

yeah... no.
For a little more explaination, yes it has been brought up in the past. From the operator's standpoint, that's one more server to pay for, and it does essentially the same thing as another. There's also the expected traffic through each server to consider to make sure it's meeting some profitable level. Yada yada, more explainations. Point is, it probably won't happen unless a completely new dynamic gameplay is made to set it apart from those two genres.

I thought Rezel already brought this up to Zero? If this is the same thing i'm thinkin' about?

We have had separate servers years ago. Was a no go. Is a no go. Also, meh, no.

This topic has been brought up on multiple occasions and was shot down every time. As steamer said we have tried this before in the past and it ended up breaking up our regulars between the two and leaving the servers desolate.

I would think that splitting it into ZE and ZM on diff servers would be a good idea i play a lot with bread and because ZE rules differ from ZM rules when it comes to holding spots and who has rule over a spot this may help since so many people that play ZE when they get to a ZM map they just run around blasting cades because they have no idea whats going on and or just Troll because they dont want to play a ZE map it may help take care of this problem we have been having on the zombie server as of lait.

If you split the server population, wouldn't it be even more likely that players won't know the rules to one server because they're played on the other one for too long/longer?

Sounds to me that this can easily be solved through more vigilante administrating. No need to take on all these negatives for something that can be solved easily.

So... for the fifth/sixth time.... Nahhh.

Admins do come in but most of the time when the people who keep doing stuff to off set the servers they watch for the IBIS tag and D.C when they come in and or do not get pics or demos in time. But yes if the hammer would fall just a little more on the Zom servers when people do stupid stuff that would bring down alot of the problems :icon_mrgreen:

Ok, I'll bite. Speaking as an admin that goes to a few IBIS servers for various things, ZM issues are VERY rarely brought to my attention (through regs usually), nor are there many incidents I come across when under an alias. WCS has it's fair share of hackers, same with pub, and GG has trolling teamkillers that need a swift ban. With the newest update to inhibit players from going spectator and joining as zombie to "rank whore" by using bhopping skills 99% of their online time to kill players, I haven't seen much else. The occasional illegal cade comes up, but those are dealt with by a good warning/slay usually. Only once in the time I've played ZMod have I seen a legit aimbot (horrible might I add, shakey as ANYTHING) on the ibis zm.

But anyway, if you're willing to put in a little effort, you can ban these players. Just grab the demo from the SourceTV (always watches servers), and post it in the appropriate Bans section (with proper format!). You can't expect all admins (that actually do their jobs *cough cough*) to be in ZMod all the time. Many go to one or more of the other servers for their own reasons. That, or friend a few that would be willing to drop in if they have a sec to watch someone (feel free to add me next time i'm on), and shoot em a private message if you need a quick solution. Don't take these issues out on the z-mod types being one server >.<
