About space?

Let me set the mood....

Just another clear northern maine night, warm, about 4 degrees out with 4 inches of freshly fallen snow blanketing the land.

At work, I can hear the v12 cat main chipper motor idling down as the last truck was leaving.

Sky was as clear and as crisp as could be, milky way running right down the center of the sky.

I just sat there in the darkness earning 21/hr for roughly 10 - 15 minutes starring skyward.

That shit just boggles my mind. Thinking of all the different galaxies and solar systems being created and destroyed. How most of the star light we see left its creator thousands of light years ago. I've watched nearly every documentary and tv episode known to the english language on space. I suppose a lot of you dont get to see things the way i do, with all your fancy city life bs...

Its just incredible to try to fathom what truly is out there. Lets have a educated discussion for a change.

I think you sir are a moron but I am forced to agree here. Imagine if something like that happened again, the leaps science would make in the field of space exploration and travel. Everyone is to fucking worried about how much music they can put on their fucking smart phones

In the mountains in the DR I spent a few hours watching the sky, it looks closer there b/c of the magnification effect of the atmosphere. I listened to classical music and saw some shooting stars, there was no man made light viable from anywhere so it was just an amazing experience.

I have also had the chance to look though large telescopes in collage and that was also a great experience.


I actually think about space a lot b/c I recognize its importance in the future of mankind. God has given us a wonderful planet to live on but He has also graced us with a vast universe to explore wonders we can only begin to imagine. We have been blessed with the minds to take us there and I look forward to a future where man is able to truly explore and experience the vast wonders out there.

I am very hopeful for the advent of commercial spaceflight and when it becomes possible I hope to some day take a trip to space even if I got to sell my house to do it.
