Thread: New command.

    Lightbulb New command.

    We need a new command that everyone can use.
    We need a unstuck command for humans and zombies that just gets you unstuck and nothing else.
    The command should look something like this: !unstuck.
    What the command should do is teleport you up one meter.
    The command should have a 10 sec wait time to prevent abuse.
    The reason that we need this command is that on some ze maps you can get stuck in vehicles to the point that the slap command can not help you.
    Ztele can not help you because it is a escape map.

    We had one a long time ago. Due to an update with how physics are handled, this is no longer easily possible. I'm sure Zero could think something up. IE: Calculate current position and teleport only a bit off. That would take time to code, time better spent elsewhere like WCS. Not to mention a plugin of this type could cause many problems.

    maynard <ibis>: they are awkward and last 2 damn long. I prefer thinner smaller ones

    it'll be abused way more than properly used. if it was to be implemented (haven't seen situations where it's needed myself), i'd say limit it to once per round.

    edit: steamer, wasn't aware there used to be one. did it work as described by thecat or would it just bring you to the top of the surface you're stuck in (that's how i interpret yours)?

    It would bring you to the objects surface. It was part of c0ldfires original zmod in the es days. Zero had it limited, wasn't really abused then and very handy.

    makes a lot more sense to work that way than teleporting you up 1m. i can definitely see how that could be helpful, and difficult to abuse. could also be handy in zm (people getting stuck in objects) but i wouldnt be the right man to comment correctly on that.

    maybe one of the better threads you have started. But as steamer said, because of the physics, yes it might be difficult to execute, but ZERO might have something up his sleeves. Another great issue that brett brings up, it could be abused to someone "escape" being tagged as a zombie (could be a controversy during a slay/kick or ban). But if it only brings them up to a certain extent to get out of the stuck situation (like out of the stuck cade or item), it could help out a lot in ze and zm maps.

    I see what you're saying about the map objects (boats, cars, etc) and how it can force players into surfaces, and it would help. But wont this affect the zm gameplay with using !unstuck to escape from soda machines or other props that people use to hold zombies? While ztele does allow them to escape, it's at the cost of running back to that cade, which levels the playing field. Whether it be used to teleport up 1m or just to the surface, it's something worth looking into thoroughly before implementing.

    For now, players should be learning from their mistakes, noting not to stand right in front of a vehicle for just this reason. If you want a command for fixing the issue, I recommend it be admin accessible only. Less chance for abuse, and still gets the job done as every player will bring up the issue when it happens. As for when admins are not online; we have a pretty good flow of admin activity, and players need to learn sooner or later.

    this. say i pull a cade piece on top of me, or humans get me stuck inside their cade. i hit one button and boom! i'm on top of their cade, most likely killing them. good idea, but extremely difficult to balance. MAYBE if it were restricted to shitty maps (ze) it would be workable. maybe. still, it's definately something zero should look into.

    Yup, this was what I was worried about.


    Such a command can be useful, but I support the processes of natural selection. Letting things alone could promote player awareness, hierarchy establishment/leader models, and movement efficiency.

    Using the methods from wcs to prevent sticking it could work but only for maps where no block is on.

    It would need to come after the reprogram of human as I will be creating a final set of functions to deal with teleportation checking and stuck prevention to use as stocks.
