maynard <ibis>: they are awkward and last 2 damn long. I prefer thinner smaller ones

    Toshiba laptop:

2.3 ghz intel i7, ivy bridge
AMD Radeon HD 7670m, 1gb vram
    6gb ram, ddr3 1333
500 gb 5400 rpm hdd (had an option for 7200 but my last laptop had heat issues so i went with the cooler option)

man i feel lame. posting a laptop is like half as long as a desktop. -.-

oh, also noticed this from the steam survey i just did:

OS Install Date: Dec 31 1969

Through the darkness of futures past,
    The magician longs to see
One chants out between two worlds:
    Fire, walk with me.

Well, you know my home rig that I never really play on is a Core i7 920/7950 build, my work build, that I'm on 8 hours a day, and sometimes have CSS up in the background is a bit older, but still relevant. Intel Q9650, HD3850, 8GB DDR2

My wife games on a X48/Q6600 PC with a HD7850 and 4GB DDR3. Just recently added an OCZ Synapse SSD to it, to hopefully extend its life a bit longer. (still feels nice and zippy)

Now if you want to get into servers and other random computers I have... well the list is rather large.

Q6600 is one of my favorite! Which stepping did you end up with? Q6600 is still as fast as a top tier AMD CPU, lol ... I miss AMDs heyday.

G0 of course. Forgot to mention this is all on a Corsair 450. Built it to peak efficiency with room for GFX upgrade early on. Ahhh, good ole days of performance AMD. They still have their niches.

  8. Default

    I have two computers

I have an a6 llano based laptop (I love it, the APU is just what I wanted, games @ 1366x768 great and actually runs for 4 hours on battery unlike gaming laptops)

    My desktop:
CM storm scout case (Im mixed about it)
    i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz
    noctua nh-d14
    Asus p8p67
    8gigs of 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 ram
    gtx 660ti
    gtx 460 768mb for physx
    asus xonar dg sound card
antc HCg 620w ( did not have enough connectors, had to use a sata to molex to pci-e to get my second card pluged in)
    HP LA2405wg 1920x1200 monitor

What I want some time is a
    SSD
    a better keyboard
an IPS/VA panel but I refuse to leave my 16x10. Pisses me off that 16x9 got so big. damn 1080p being more marketable...

Just built this guy back in November. I posted it in the PC tech talk thread as well, back when that big baby Ricochet was still around. No overclocking yet because there's no need. The total price rang in at around $900 (this is approximately a $1,300 build though, got some really, really good deals on many of the components), the machine runs like a Goddamn beastly maniac and will run every game out right now at max-max-max, 1920x1080 60+ fps.

I was just like you for years, thought 1920x1200 was superior and didn't see why anyone settled for 1920x1080. I switched to 1080p for the first time at the end of last year when there was a 27" LG on sale for $200 which I couldn't pass up and I will be 100% honest with you - there is absolutely no discernible difference when it comes to gaming, surfing the web or general productivity. This may not prove true for picture/photo/video editing, where those extra pixels might matter (I doubt it) but I promise you'll save a ton of money on a 1080p display versus 1200p and if you notice a difference, it will be barely, if at all, and likely in your mind.

That said, I suppose if I were going to get a 1920x1200 IPS panel because I just couldn't 'downgrade' to 1080p, this would be the one I'd snag.
