when I ran out I grabbed my PC tower, and my external harddrive..... the xbox, 55 inch tv, external media player etc... all that is a diff story... not 2 mention all my clothes with the smoke damage.....
talked with the fire dept... basically my place is fucked and I get five minutes 2 grab a few things like clothes and shit out of there on Tuesday. The building owner is looking for a new apt for me within the complexes he owns, so that's good. Still sucks not knowing the state of all my belongings and shit though... so looks like I'm held up in the hotel room for a couple more days.

Do you have renters insurance or some other candian thing that's just as good?
tough break on that one. insurance is always a waste... unless you need it...
im just happy that you aint ded like a bitch.
You get more time to grab more stuff later I assume? I mean all your kitchen shit should still be good silverware ect. When you think about it there is actually a lot of $$ worth of shit that people do own that will not get destroyed from smoke and water.
For your external devices a few days in rice should fix them up if they were turned off.
Hmm. I would think the complex would have an insurance policy that would cover you in this instance, given that the damage was to the entire building and 100% out of your control/not your responsibility and didn't affect just you. Definitely check into it. And yes, renter's insurance is always a must - super duper cheap (like $20/month) and the coverage is fantastic. I'm lucky in that the first apartment complex I lived in actually REQUIRED it (I wouldn't have had it otherwise) and it saved me about $15,000 after we got burglarized. That would have been an expensive life lesson indeed but thankfully I was saved by pesky rules. Hopefully you're covered by the complex.
