Thread: Network streaming of my own ip cams

  1. Default Network streaming of my own ip cams

So here's the skinny. I have two IP enabled in house cams, that I can connect too, at anytime on the internet or on my smart phone for live streaming, video recording (only at that time) and it has the ability for motion sensoring (to enable event logging and probable activation of the recording, duh) but the company I got the cameras from, want a monthly charge to enable these two said services, and "because of convenience" the recorded events ~edit (if paid for) are uploaded via the cloud to their "secure" servers. Fuck all that, I want to be able to enable motion sensing on my own, and if so chosen download the streams to my comps HD. Now I know the traffic is obviously passing through my router (these are setup via wireless to my router) but do not know the proper steps to setup something like this. I know there are packet sniffers, and wireshark and shit, but what I'm looking for is something on a bigger scale that I can configure at my leisure and not pay a monthly fee for. Any suggestions?

  2. Default

IF you know what ip they are sending to you can create a new route and tell it to redirect to the system you want and the packets will go there (you will need a good router like a cisco for this). You then figure out what sort of system they r using and then copy it to retrieve the packets.

Or in the future you never buy something that is going to the "cloud". All that tells me is there is a database that anyone can access with videos of your house on it that you have no control of.

How naughty are your webcam shows going to get? You could probably make bank off of some gentleman callers.
I hit Brett right in the feels.

What, always with his mind in the gutter :P

I believe there are pretty good cameras you can buy online that have all these features and more. Hope you didn't pay too much for such a locked-down product/service. :-/

nah $50 a piece. and I don't have a good router like that, just the base cable one. I do have a linksys, but a router into a router just for this seems a bit extreme. Really no way to capture and decode things sent on a certain port (assuming they would have to be sent out on like 80 or 21 or something)

~ edit and they don't auto send to the cloud...that's part of their paid package crap (lulz)

~ double edit, like the sig kionay , but for most people it's back from 100

It is possible. What is the make and model of the cameras and are they hooked into a box/dvr ?

ZyXEL IPC1165N's and no wirelessly to my router. They can be wired, but from where they are that would involve a bunch more shit I can't do because I live in a condo.
