so...you obviously don't have the best of both worlds. its like making bacon, except its turkey bacon. turkey bacon on top of dog shit.

yes, you have windoes (bacon) but its not real bacon because you can't upgrade the GPU and core hence its not the best (TURKEY bacon), and its all on top of a steaming pile of shit.

...If you're gaming. For an all-purpose laptop, it's the best for me. Trust me, I tried every other brand before giving in.

I don't even think they're the best at video editing, anymore...

The last time I used a Mac for video editing was 6th grade. Coincidentally that was the first time I had ever done video editing. I was forced to edit in Avid on macs last semester, and after Avid crashed the second time I said fuck that, took it to my room and edited on my laptop using Premiere. Also I'm not sure about avid, but premiere starting with cs5 they've added constant rendering with GPU support, meaning having a good, upgrade-able gpu is highly helpful. Side note, avid is total fucking shit.

Macs are not for gaming, they likely never will be seeing as how locked down the operating system is (thank you Apple)

like trying to mod a game, the modders can only do so much and it's ultimately up to the game devs to fix/patch/update flaws in their software to allow the modders to do as they please

ultimately it's up to Apple as to if a game will end up compatable for the mac OS, and apple is stingy and selfish (in so far as they are with their mac operating system's freedom)

Apple seems to make a lot of money by pushing out products that reserve Apple's complete and utter power over each and every device. They have a control-boner (read Ctrl + Bnr on windows and Cmd + Bnr on mac ) and up their prices. Make their products look nice and shiney and the fishes will be drawn in and shovel money into their gaping orifices. Windows is leaning towards this but the nature of the core of the OS makes work-a-rounds easier. I have windows 7/Ubuntu on my laptop. Never going back to single boot :P

Linux, batch processing between PC's, and some custom configured pure beast workstation GPU's are what pros use for video editing and CI anyhow. One wouldn't try to use this for gaming, and out would not work quite as good, but would blow your gaming PC away in raw power. Everything is tuned for something, a MAC is simply tuned for cashflow and stability between OS and hardware. The ONLY thing a Mac is good for is an all around overpriced yet very stable office and media machine, preferably laptop, that you don't plan on updating and using purely as is.
Make all your last demands for I will forsake you and I'll meet your eyes for the very first time, for the very last.

maynard <ibis>: they are awkward and last 2 damn long. I prefer thinner smaller ones
