To an extent, refs allow two people to get a few swings in. Coaches sometimes even use this to their advantage by having their team fighter (the player who is best at fighting) instigate a fight with another good player from the other team so that they have a temp advantage!

Both those teams blow, and it served no purpose, just some stupid shit to start a game for no purpose and no end. Also, some of the worst fighting I have seen in a while. Had it been worthwhile the benches would have cleared. The only reason so many penalties were given was that the fighting was premeditated.
