If I remeber correctly the old zmod track was like that sometimes. Most of the round you could hardly even hear the music, then once in awhile in the last 50 seconds or so it did start to pick up and add to the tension.
Maybe all that needs to be done is a recut of the old zmod music mixed in with some faint shouts and screams as paper put it,
I think the fake gunfire would be a little much.
I was thinking like the distant gunfire you hear in a lot of CoD4 maps. And when I said music picking up at the end I was thinking specifically of the 28 weeks later music, especially the version where it climaxes at about 2 min.
