Assassin, the worst thing that could happen is we out a power role. The best thing that could happen is we lynch Scum. The most likely thing to happen is we lynch a VT.
That said, I actually just realized that most mafiascum games start with an odd number of people! That is why they say no lynch on day 1 is a bad idea. In our case starting with an even number of people, it can actually be better to wait! Boy, I thought I was actually getting the hang of this game.
With 8 people and a lynch today, we would have 6 tomorrow, 4 to lynch. Assuming we also lynch tomorrow, we would have 4 remaining with 2 to lynch. That means after 2 mislynches, town would lose.
With 8 people and no lynch today, we would have 7 tomorrow with 4 to lynch. If we lynch tomorrow, we would have 5 remaining with 3 to lynch. Mafia would win the following night.
Statistically, we could wait a day since we only have 2 mislynches before we lose anyway you cut it. If there actually is a Cop, we would have an extra night of investigations, although the first would be completely blind whereas votes give fairly useful information as to who to investigate. That said, if there is no cop we would gain a slight statistical advantage of hitting scum day 2 with a no lynch. A lynch today would have 2 in 8 odds of hitting scum, a lynch tomorrow would have 2 in 7 odds.
I would be willing to switch to no lynch if what I just said made any sense. I only got around an hour of sleep and am about to pass out. See you all in the morning!
