But that's not what I'm talking about. Without a deadline, the NL would have been scummy. With the deadline, and the rules enforced by it, NL means the players have control rather than the mod.

When the deadline options involve such a totally game breaking option of "A) Random Lynch" NL isn't nearly as scummy as letting the deadline come and go.

The issue is that some people want deadlines so that the game can go at a steady pace. Others want no time limit so they can talk the game until there is nothing left.
