Thread: https not being used by sites?

  1. Default https not being used by sites?

So i was logging into sourcebans and Firefox is telling me that the site isn't secure. Sure enough, on some websites I access that require logins are not directing to the https:// at all. What in tarnation is going on?

    Security certificates cost money.

Because the only thing that really requires https is shit like your bank, credit card and that shit. Most normal websites do not require that shit. Having a 3rd party verified encrypted connection via https like what you see banks use come with extremely high costs. There is not really a valid reason for 99.9% of the internet to invest in that. This is really a money push more than anything else. There is lots of low cost implementations of https that do not have the same security of bank level. Honestly anything short of bank level security is not really going to stop anyone who is select targeting things. It is all about money and giving users who do not really understand what it is warm fuzzy feelings.

I will see if I can turn on some basic https as to provide the warm fuzzy feelings. lol

No, please don't change it. Unverified certificate notifications are a pain in the ass and I don't want to have to tell my browser that I understand the risks everytime I access ibis.

Swag, you can deal with it.
