Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly. Click here to see how YouTube videos should be embedded. There could also be a technical issue that's not your fault. Click here to view the video on YouTube's site. If this link doesn't work, you did something wrong.

Btw Loka I am really digging your current signature. You still have the PS file for that?
nooo i found those in my photobucket... i haven't had photoshop on my desktop for a year now... and all the files are gone now which sucks.

how did you guys learn to us ps?

I'm having to watch a shit ton of youtube videos and reading mountains of tutorials on various sites.

and of course, learning from accidents in ps that turn out super cool and it puts the word 'wow' on the face.

i learned in high school in graphic design class and then look at various tutorials... but to be honest it depends on the person using the program whether they understand the concept of PS and the tutorial.

PS can be a great tool if you know how to use it and make crisp designs, and that starts with playing around with all the uses that PS can do for you.

That includes different effects, what are the avantages to saving files as a jpg, gif, png, etc etc. Uses of renders, and how to use each layer effectively. That's what makes PS such a great program. Manipulating the effects of each layer if you know how to.

example.... this is a PNG file. PNG files are exceptional for high quality and transparency.

use of different brushes to add great effects

mess around with textures and colors

and find some fonts that match what your doing

and this was created using PS animation with 3 different layers...

those are some of my works... and i'm content with them. you have to be satisfied with what your making. Otherwise it doesn't come out with the "wow" reaction your looking for.

You pretty much hit the nail on the head right there, YT. Tutorials will definitely get you started on the right track, stealing one of those "For Dummies" books will help you out even more. I consider those books user-friendly versions of the official books that companies like Adobe put out. God knows the "official" manuals are a tedious read.

Pick up some other programs like Adobe Illustrator and even Flash, once you get the hang of PS and it's many uses. You'll be cranking out quality shit in no time.

I used to download my brushes off of deviant art and some other random websites back in the day. I think I might just re-install PS-CS3 tonight, and start putzing around with it again... ahhh memories!
