Havn't you seen Diary of the Dead? Apparently zombies don't need to breathe sometimes. So the fire wouldn't suffocate them by burning up all the oxygen, and I'm pretty sure they're resistant to pain.. Remember, the only way to kill a zombie is to shoot them in the head or sever the head usually.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
What's your weapon of choice? Whatever's fucking available. IT'S A GOD DAMN ZOMBIE APOCOLYPES, PERSONAL PREFERENCE DOESN'T MEAN SHIT! (Most likely police sidearms or whatever can be scavenged from gunshops.)
What's your bodily protection? Distance! Staying away from the zombies is your best defense. This most likely means getting out into the country ASAP and setting up someplace defensive quickly. If the zombies overwhelm the cities, they'll start to meander farther and farther outward. I assume the zombies will have their own lifespan shortened, so all you have to do is survive the first exodus wave and you're home free. Might find the odd zombie here and there over the first few years but all that will survive after a point should be immune.
Where would you barricade yourself? Down-wind. Find a place where your scent can't travel far. Fire, food, detergents, shit, etc. will all carry on the wind. Hiding high in an office building or wallowing in a basement that has a chimney won't do you much good if every zombie in the area knows you're there. I'd go someplace that's foul smelling now, like an industrial area like a steel mill, refinery, swamp, cave system, etc. That way you'd have a few ways to mask yourself. And stay the hell away from places that will have attractive smells, like grocery stores, meat packing plants, food processing centers, zoos, etc. Zombies will be hanging out there.
Would you want to move yourself once in a while? Not until the initial horde mostly dies off. Once it does, a nice farm community near a big city would probably be the best place to live. If you need anything besides fresh food, take a trip into the city to scavenge.
Big group of people or small group of people? As many as possible. Increases your chances of survival during the climax of the zombie outbreak and would help improve the living during the aftermath. A larger community afterward can do more to pull a society together and offer more genetic variety (to avoid horrible mutations or sterility).
Why do you people keep picking military grade weapons... he said realistically in a apocalyptic situation there would be no chance of u ever find these weapons let alone the ammunition for them.
My Zombie plan would consist of stock up on MREs from a military surplus store predisaster (If were talking only about zombies for the moment id probly take my 4 wheeler or bike and find some of my close friends and set out for a less populated area ASAP) in another situation id take my car.
Weapons of choice- Probably take my Shotgun and dads revolver with minimal amount of ammunition to keep light, then either a machete we have in the garage or my shitty sorta sharp sword i got at a garage sale....
Armor- Id probably find something leather most likely but id just take nothing but regular clothing anything else would just slow u down in a fight and wouldn't help much unless u got like a full body leather/Kevlar suit.
Barricading- Hell no staying in one area would be the last thing i would do.
Small or Large Group- Def Small group only the people i know would aid me in survival and no more that 4 other people with me. More people leaves more room for error which means i die.

um do you realize that if a zombie apocalypse did happen the national guard and army would probably be all over the place, weapons and ammo everywhere at that point.
have you ever noticed our military can't keep track of anything that cost less than $1000.
oh and new plan for me forget everything and make my way to the ocean as fast as I can. jack some dudes yacht and sail out about 15 miles from shore and wait out the zombies.
-The enemy of my enemy is my friend-
Yah, that's probably the best bet albeit farther than 15 miles from shore. Dead bodies float, zombies are undead, so I'm pretty sure they could swim/float 15 miles out. Make it 100 miles and probably should steal a fishing boat. Could use the lines or nets to make a protective barrier around the boat while you're waiting or catch fish for food.
Also, make sure to bring buckets to capture rain or make drinkable water from sea water (clear plastic + the sun = drinkable evaporated water).
Dead body's do float but they wouldn't for 100 miles there body's would absorb the water and sink at some point and I don't think zombies are the best swimmers to make it out to him fast enough.
Being on a boat would be a bad idea anyways unless u had tons of bait and fishing supplies there would be no food source and if you could manage to catch fish for that long u would run out of wood, gas, ext to cook them. At some point you would need to come back to the mainland or an island.
i'd go to an island first to see if the infection had spread to it, if not i'd stay on the island. i'd probably go to one of the 3 U.S virgin islands. low population there, and even if infection spread there i think there's enough ammo at the military base there to take care of 10,000 zombies.
