To be honest, I kind of agree with Wicked.
I noticed one thing though, people liked to play to try and get their rank up. That's the main upside. The main downside is that they start to play too seriously.
Leave it as it is
make it harded to rank up like with the old rank system
Remove the ranks all together
restore the older time based rank system of noob, regular, Fan, specialist, master, 31337

The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.
