What is this business with a new HDD? If all you need is a clean install you just need an OS disk. If you boot into the installer you can format the HDD and delete everything on it so that you can install from scratch. Also in the future you aught to check out NOD32!

yea thats what i thought. i was using vista when he got the viruses. i reformated back to windows xp and i installed some games that were crashing and they r still crashing. im not sure what exactly he did to destroy the hard drive but i have never had this problem before.

*update* I got source installed again and since yesterday I haven't had a crash. Hopefully I'm good. Instead of installing off the cd, I dl'd steam and css and installed it that way. So far so good
