Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is relaunch of the catastrophe mmo that was Final Fantasy XIV which was so bad that they relocated the game director and development team to other games, removed subsciption for a whole year and decided to scrap most of the game then remake it with a new client, graphics engine, server and data structures, a revamped interface, redesigned maps, more gameplay variations and additional story content.

It is available for PC, PS3 and will be released for PS4. The UI is different between PC and PS3 so controls will be optimized for each. It is a subscription style MMO with this pricing:

Days Char per world Total chars
    Entry £7.69/€10.99/$12.99 30 1 8
    Standard £8.99/€12.99/$14.99 30 8 40
    Standard £8.39/€11.99/$13.99 90 8 40
    Standard £7.69/€10.99/$12.99 180 8 40

    Classes:

Unlike most other MMO's, one character can be every class and job and you can switch by simply changing the Main hand slot. An example is, equiping a bow will change your class to Archer, equip a fishing rod and you become a Fisherman or equip a needle and you will become a Weaver.

Leveling up a class will allow you to add one or a few abilities from that class to your toolbar and then you will be able to use it to strengthen another class. For example, by leveling up Conjurer you gain the Cure healing which you can then use as a Gladiator to survive longer in fights.

    Max level is 50.

    Disciples of War

Archer - Bow - With a bow in hand and a quiver on his back, the archer strikes at the enemy from afar. In Eorzea, two schools of archery have risen to prominence: that of the longbow sentries of the Elezen military, and that of the shortbow hunters among the Miqo'te.

Lancer - Lances, Tridents and Halberds - The lancer is a master of polearms—weapons which have evolved from humble hunting tools. In former times, the longspear saw the most widespread use, due in great part to the influence of the proud lancer legions of Ala Mhigo. The lancer's weaponry has since expanded to include other lethal implements such as the halberd and trident.

Marauder - Two-handed Axes - Marauders are combat specialists whose weapon of choice is the greataxe—a fearsome arm long associated with Eorzea's pirates. Their approach to battle is one of brute force, as they rely on pure strength and good steel to crush enemies and sunder weapons.

Pugilist - Metal claws and knuckles - The path of the pugilist is one of incessant training aimed at mastering the traditional techniques of hand-to-hand combat. Though pugilists command formidable power when unarmed, they are wont to use metal, leather, and bone weaponry to maximize their destructive potential. Pugilist uses Combos to deal the most damage to an opponent.

Gladiator - Swords - Gladiators specialize in the handling of all manner of one-handed blades, from daggers to longswords, be they single- or double-edged, straight or curved. Making use of their skill with the shield, gladiators can also draw the attention and attacks of an enemy upon themselves, thereby protecting their comrades from harm.

    Disciples of Magic

Conjurer - Wands - Conjury calls upon the elements of earth, wind, and water and concentrates them to a potency at which spells can be weaved. Versed also in magicks that restore and strengthen, conjurers are regarded as accomplished healers.

Thaumaturge - Staves - At the heart of this school of magic lies the ability to call forth and command the latent aether within oneself through deep introspection. To then mold that aether into sorcery, the thaumaturge makes use of a scepter or staff, within which is housed a medium—a natural stone imbued with magical properties. Thus armed, the thaumaturge is capable of wreaking considerable havoc via ruinous spells and curses.

Arcanist - Books - Held within occult grimoires, these symbols lend shape to the arcanist's aether, thereby allowing him to produce myriad powerful spells.
Using the selfsame symbols to unlock the latent power contained within gemstones, arcanists are also able to summon forth the familiar known as Carbuncle to carry out their bidding.

    Disciples of the Hand

Alchemist - Alemvics - Alchemists can create potions and curative ales from a range of ingredients.

Armorer - Raising Hammers - Armorers treat and work the malleable metals into all forms of armour.

Blacksmith - Cross-pein Hammers - Blacksmiths can craft and create mighty weapons.

Carpenter - Handsaws - The foremost workers of wood, Carpenters craft numerous wooden items including utensils and furniture.

Culinarian - Skillets - Culinarians are able to cook up means that can boost performance of players.

Goldsmith - Chaser Hammers - Goldsmithing is the practice of working precious metals and stones into a multitude of accessories.

Leatherworker - Headknives - Leatherworker's skills encompass those of an armorer and clothier. Creating colourful garments of quality.

Weaver - Needles - From fiber to thread, thread to cloth, cloth to dress, a Weaver tailors from basic beginnings to extravagant ends.

    Disciples of the Land

Botanist - Hatchets - The botanist's profession encompasses the procurement of resources from all forms of plant life, including grains, vegetables, and lumber.

Miner - Pickaxes - Miners' excavate Eorzea's mineral wealth, be it ores, fossils, precious stones, or otherwise.

Fisher - Fishing Rods - Fishers are the harvesters of the realm's marine and freshwater animal resources. Lucky fishers may also acquire precious pearls.

    Jobs:

By meeting certain prerequisites, Disciples of War or Disciples of Magic can change from their classes to more specialized jobs. Taking on a job gives characters access to exclusive skills and actions. To acquire a job, a character must reach a certain level in the associated class, complete a job quest, and then receive a soul crystal key item. While classes are mostly for soloing, Jobs gives you skills that are best used in groups in raids, dungeons and FATEs.

When playing as a job, you will have access to both the actions of the base class as well as those of the job in question. You will also be able equip certain actions belonging to other classes. Job-specific actions are acquired by completing job quests.

Here is an example of the requirements to get Paladin. Base class: Gladiator, Level 30 gladiator and level 15 conjurer. *Note: The requirements below was for the previous version of FFXIV. Might be changed for ARR.

Paladin - The paladin job sacrifices maximum HP, but this is compensated by way of greatly enhanced defense as well as the ability to cast healing magic. Valiant by nature, a paladin can shield his comrades from blows, making him the unyielding rock upon which a party’s defense is built. - Req: Level 30 gladiator and level 15 conjurer.

Monk - The monk job adds the power of wind to the elemental repertoire of the pugilist, and in marrying offense and defense in attacks, improves upon the pugilist’s capacity to deal explosive damage. - Req: Level 30 pugilist and level 15 lancer.

Warrior - Warriors have the honor of possessing the highest HP of any class or job. Thriving on the enmity of his foes, there is no fiercer fighter on the field of battle. - Req: Level 30 marauder and level 15 gladiator.

Dragoon - If lancers are at their best when on the attack, then dragoons were born to do nothing but. In addition to enhanced attack power, dragoons are also able to take to the skies for short periods of time and rain down attacks on their enemies from above. - Req: Level 30 lancer and level 15 pugilist.

Bard - The bard is a versatile job that performs songs to bolster various attributes of his companions. Coupled with his ability in battle, this enables the bard to carry his own weight in either an offensive or defensive capacity. - Req: Level 30 archer and level 15 conjurer.

White Mage - White mages are powerful casters whose talents enable them to fully restore the HP of all party members in a mere instant. Beyond healing, they can also apply their MP towards attack magic, granting them extremely powerful offensive abilities. - Req: Level 30 conjurer and level 15 gladiator.

Black Mage - Specializing as a black mage serves to further strengthen class characteristics and also increases MP. Black mages are able to invoke devastating spells of ancient magic and subdue multiple enemies with a single cast. - Req: Level 30 thaumaturge and level 15 pugilist.

Summoner - The beast tribes of Eorzea worship and summon forth beings known as primals, among which are Ifrit, Garuda, and Titan. Yet what is a god to one man is a demon to another, for the city-states of Eorzea see these beings as a grave threat to their collective survival. In times immemorial, there lived mages who had not only the power to summon the primals, but also the means to transmute the primals' essences, thus binding them to their will. Known simply as summoners, the existence of these men and women and their arcane art have been all but lost to the ages. - Reqs: Unknown

Scholar - These learned men and women defended the freedom of their tiny nation with their unique command over spell-weaving faeries, utilizing the creatures' magicks to heal the wounded and bolster the strength of their allies. - Reqs: Unknown.

    Races:

The races are the sentient humanoid species that inhabit Eorzea. At this time, there are five playable races in Final Fantasy XIV.

    Leveling

There are several ways to level up throughout the game and here is a list of them:

FATEs - Essentially they are the same as Dynamic Events from GW2. Spawned randomly around the world and you just have to be in the area to participate.

Levequests - They are missions obtained by talking to a Regional Guildleve Master or Local Guildleve Master. Each of the 3 starting cities have their own Regional Guildleve Masters and Local Guildleve Masters. They are simply, kill 3 of certain animals.

Quests - These quests are obtained by talking to questgivers all around the cities and camps. There are normal quests and then main scenario quests. The quests will help you to max out your first job and then you will be forced to find other ways to level up the other classes/jobs.

Dungeons - There are several dungeons around Eorzea that is a good way to level up with.

Group content - There are several types of quests/types that only groups can use to level up.

    Additional Content

Primal Fights - Primals are pretty much gods in FFXIV that you can kill in groups to get good items. Some of them are: Ifrit, Garuda, Odin and Titan.

Chocobo Breeding - You can breed your own chocobos that will fight with you and useable as mounts.

Grand Company quests - There are 3 different Grand Companies that you can align yourself with to do quests for tokens and items.

Housing - Housing is very expensive in FFXIV and will require people to gather money together to buy. There are different types of houses: Linkshell(Guilds) housing, Free company(Small guilds which you can join even tho you're in a linkshell) housing and character housing(Small, Medium and Large).

    Raids - 12/24-man raids

    Comment:

There is lots of features i haven't writen since it will take alot more time.

Performance wise, this game is amazing as my computer isn't that good but have maxed graphics settings and not one single moment of lag even tho there are 20+ people around me fighting.

They will be adding new jobs through patches before a expansion is released with new area.

Really loving this game and can't wait for it to get out of beta. Currently in Phase 3 of close beta with Phase 4 Open beta starting in july/august.

"Intolerance and superstition has always been the domain of the more stupid amongst the common folk and, I conjecture, will never be uprooted, for they are as eternal as stupidity itself. There, where mountains tower today, one day there will be seas; there where today seas surge, will one day be deserts. But stupidity will remain stupidity."

Lol, and this is why I don't mind that I'm stuck in a hotel room on TDY with my mediocre laptop and sketchy internet for the next month. Plenty of time to smooth out those launch issues.
